Initiating C.H.E.W. at Maternity Care Coalition

    Get PDF
The purpose of this project is to provide access to healthy and affordable foods to the families involved in Maternity Care Coalition’s Early Head Start program as means to reduce obesity in the 0-3 year old children. Implementing the C.H.E.W. (Cultivating Healthy Eating and Wellness) program, which includes a new food buying club where families can access healthy food at whole sale prices as well as nutrition education workshops throughout the year, will provide access to the healthy and affordable foods needed. The program is focused on pregnant women and young families with children 0-3 years of age to attempt to reach children at a young age as to prevent a future of obesity and chronic disease.https://jdc.jefferson.edu/cwicposters/1039/thumbnail.jp

Addressing Childhood Obesity in Early Head Start Population in Philadelphia through Early Intervention and Food Buying Clubs

Aims: To implement a food buying club model to increase access to fresh and healthy foods for families whose children (ages 2-5) participate in Early Head Start and the Maternity Care Coalition. Compare four potential food distributors: Philadelphia SHARE, Asociacion Puertorriquenos in Marcha (APM), The Common Market, and JETRO to find the organization that can best implement a feasible food buying club run through Early Head Start to fit the families needs.https://jdc.jefferson.edu/cwicposters/1022/thumbnail.jp

    Visualizing Large Geographic Datasets

    Get PDF
Disclosed is a system and method for visualizing large geographic datasets that focuses on prominent features while still showing the spatial distribution of all data. The visualization can be efficiently implemented with standardized application protocols that are commonly used in Geographic Information Systems such as web maps

Using variable font width to adjust flow of text within text boxes

    Get PDF
In many applications, such as presentations, graphics design, etc., text content is placed and manipulated within container elements, such as text boxes. In many instances, resizing an element that contains text content leads to situations in which the size of text font is too large for the text content to fit completely within the resized container. In such cases, the text content flows outside the container boundaries. The techniques of this disclosure use variable font technology to adjust font width corresponding to adjustments to the size of a text container

Encoding Auxiliary Data into Raster Images

    Get PDF
In distributed Geographic Information Systems such as web maps, it is common to split large images into raster image tiles. Traditionally, clients request auxiliary data for an image region (such as a pixel position on which the user has clicked, tapped or hovered) by issuing a separate network request for additional information. However, such network round-trips slow down the user experience, particularly on slow or unreliable connections such as mobile networks. What is disclosed is a system and method for encoding auxiliary data into raster images so that remote clients can retrieve small amounts of encoded data without issuing separate network requests
