    An analytical solution of Shallow Water system coupled to Exner equation

    Get PDF
    In this paper, an exact smooth solution for the equations modeling the bedload transport of sediment in Shallow Water is presented. This solution is valid for a large family of sedimentation laws which are widely used in erosion modeling such as the Grass model or those of Meyer-Peter & Muller. One of the main interest of this solution is the derivation of numerical benchmarks to valid the approximation methods

    Strategy Logic with Imperfect Information

    Full text link
    We introduce an extension of Strategy Logic for the imperfect-information setting, called SLii, and study its model-checking problem. As this logic naturally captures multi-player games with imperfect information, the problem turns out to be undecidable. We introduce a syntactical class of "hierarchical instances" for which, intuitively, as one goes down the syntactic tree of the formula, strategy quantifications are concerned with finer observations of the model. We prove that model-checking SLii restricted to hierarchical instances is decidable. This result, because it allows for complex patterns of existential and universal quantification on strategies, greatly generalises previous ones, such as decidability of multi-player games with imperfect information and hierarchical observations, and decidability of distributed synthesis for hierarchical systems. To establish the decidability result, we introduce and study QCTL*ii, an extension of QCTL* (itself an extension of CTL* with second-order quantification over atomic propositions) by parameterising its quantifiers with observations. The simple syntax of QCTL* ii allows us to provide a conceptually neat reduction of SLii to QCTL*ii that separates concerns, allowing one to forget about strategies and players and focus solely on second-order quantification. While the model-checking problem of QCTL*ii is, in general, undecidable, we identify a syntactic fragment of hierarchical formulas and prove, using an automata-theoretic approach, that it is decidable. The decidability result for SLii follows since the reduction maps hierarchical instances of SLii to hierarchical formulas of QCTL*ii

    The state of theory in three premier advertising journals : a research note

    Get PDF
    Despite its importance, little is known about the prevalence of theory in the literature on advertising research. Utilising a content analysis of the three premier advertising journals over an 11-year period, it is found that only 17% of articles have made explicit use of theory. Psychology is the discipline from which the greatest number of articles drew their theoretical frameworks, followed by sociology and economics – indeed, theories from marketing and advertising are in the minority. Limitations are noted and implications of the results are discussed.peer-reviewe

    Pour une approche globale du transfert de connaissance : une illustration empirique Ă  l'intra-organisationnel.

    Get PDF
    La transversalité conceptuelle du transfert intra-organisationnel de connaissance ne manque pas de troubler le chercheur, qui tantôt y verra un processus d’apprentissage social et émergent, tantôt un processus formalisé, instrumentalisé dans le cadre d’un projet. Face à ce constat et un intérêt grandissant pour la connaissance organisationnelle appréhendée comme ressource stratégique durable de l’organisation, Argote & Ingram (2000) proposent un cadre conceptuel embrassant les dimensions sociale, politique, technologique et organisationnelle du transfert aussi bien à un niveau individuel que collectif. Ils proposent ainsi de voir le transfert comme un déplacement et/ou une modification des combinaisons de réservoirs génériques de connaissance de la firme que sont ses acteurs, ses technologies et ses tâches. Au travers d’un cas d’entreprise et d’une démarche qualitative par entretiens semi-directifs, nous proposons une illustration de cette approche en soulignant la complémentarité dynamique des deux types de transfert s’appuyant sur une organisation sociale différente. Le premier formalisé, instrumentalisé à un niveau organisationnel, est le fruit du réseau mis en place pour la gestion du projet, efficace pour transférer des connaissances non ambiguës. Le second, aléatoire, émergent, supplée le premier, reposant sur une organisation recréant les conditions d’interactions sociales propres à la création collective d’une connaissance ambiguë, complexe, proche de l’original, nécessitant une base commune de compréhension. Au travers de cette communication, nous souhaitons encourager une approche globale du transfert tenant compte de sa complexité dans un souci de réalisme scientifique. Elle suppose une hétérogénéité des champs théoriques mobilisés en se souciant de leur compatibilité. Elle nous semble aujourd’hui capitale dans la recherche d’une compréhension fine et exhaustive de phénomènes organisationnels aussi complexe que le transfert de connaissance.Transfert; Connaissance organisationnelle; Réseau; Relation intra-organisationnelle; réservoir; cognition; apprentissage;

    On the potato grub of Tasmania

    Get PDF
    The grub, which did so much injury to the potato crops in certain parts of this island last year, and which threatens during the present season to commit still further devastation, is the production of a small moth of the Tineidae family, and appears to be identical with the insect which has of late years been making such ravages amongst the tubers in New Zealand. In fact, it is by no means improbable that it was introduced into Tasmania in some infected importations from that country

    Effect of the Structure of Amido-polynitrogen Molecules on the Complexation of Actinides

    AbstractThe complexation and solvent extraction of Eu(III) and actinides in different oxidation states (Am(III), Pu(IV), Np(V)) by bitopic molecules with a dipyridyl-phenanthroline cycle as nitrogen unit and one or two amido functions are described. The complexation has been studied in methanol-water solution with hydrophilic molecules to enhance knowledge about this new family of ligands and to identify the most interesting structural effect. Some extraction tests have been performed with lipophilic molecules of the family to check the possible utility of the new class of ligands under representative fuel reprocessing conditions. These first studies have demonstrated that the presence of a preorganized N-donors unit like dipyridyl-phenanthroline improves the ligand's affinity for actinides and its An/Ln selectivity
