Simulations for CLIC Drive Beam Linac

The Drive Beam Linac of the Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) has to accelerate an electron beam with 4.2 A up to 2.4 GeV in almost fully-loaded structures. The pulse contains about 70000 bunches, one in every second rf bucket, and has a length of 140 μ\mus. The beam stability along the beamline is of concern for such a high current and pulse length. We present different options for the lattice of the linac based on FODO, triplet and doublet cells and compare the transverse instability for each lattice including the effects of beam jitter, alignment and beam-based correction. Additionally longitudinal stability is discussed for different bunch compressors using FODO type of lattice.Comment: 11 pages, 10 figures. Nitriding of titanium and its alloys by N2, NH3 or mixtures of N2 + H2 in a dc arc plasma at low pressures ( or = to torr)

    Get PDF
The dc glow discharges in different gas mixtures of Ar + N2, Ar + NH3 or Ar + N2 + H2 result in the surface nitriding of Ti metal and its alloy (Ti6Al4V). Various gas mixtures were used in order to establish the main active species governing the nitriding process, i.e., N, N2, NH, or NH2 as excited or ionized particles. The dc discharge was sampled and analyzed by quadruple mass spectrometry (QPMS) and optical emission spectroscopy (OES), and the nitrided samples were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with an EDAX attachment, microhardness, and Fourier transform infrared reflectance spectrometry (FTIR). It was found that the excited and ionized nitrogen and hydrogen atoms are the main species responsible for the nitriding process in a dc glow discharge

Low emittance lattice for the storage ring of Turkish Light Source Facility TURKAY

Turkish Accelerator Center) project is aimed to build an accelerator center in Turkey. The first step of the project is to construct IR-FEL facility. The second stage is to build a synchrotron radiation facility named TURKAY, which is the third generation synchrotron radiation light source that aimed to achieve high brilliance photon beam from low emittance electron beam at 3 GeV. The electron beam parameters highly depend on the magnetic lattice of the storage ring. In this paper a low emittance storage ring for TURKAY is proposed and beam dynamic properties of the magnetic lattice are investigated.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figure

Representation Growth and Rational Singularities of the Moduli Space of Local Systems

We relate the asymptotic representation theory of SL(d,Zp)SL(d,\mathbb{Z}_p) and the singularities of the moduli space of SL(d)SL(d)-local systems on a smooth projective curve, proving new theorems about both. Regarding the former, we prove that, for every d, the number of n-dimensional representations of SL(d,Zp)SL(d,\mathbb{Z}_p) grows slower than n22n^{22}, confirming a conjecture of Larsen and Lubotzky. Regarding the latter, we prove that the moduli space of SL(d)SL(d)-local systems on a smooth projective curve of genus at least 12 has rational singularities. Most of our results apply more generally to semi-simple algebraic groups. For the proof, we study the analytic properties of push forwards of smooth measures under algebraic maps. More precisely, we show that such push forwards have continuous density if the algebraic map is flat and all of its fibers have rational singularities.Comment: preliminary version, comments are welcome. v2. Revised version, now covering all semi simple group
