    A class of multipartner matching markets with a strong lattice structure

    For a two-sided multipartner matching model where agents are given by path-independent choice functions and no quota restrictions, Blair [7] had shown that stable matchings always exist and form a lattice. However, the lattice operations were not simple and not distributive. Recently Alkan [3] showed that if one introduces quotas together with a monotonicity condition then the set of stable matchings is a distributive lattice under a natural definition of supremum and infimum for matchings. In this study we show that the quota restriction can be removed and replaced by a more general condition named cardinal monotonicity and all the structural properties derived in [3] still hold. In particular, although there are no exogenous quotas in the model there is endogenously a sort of quota; more precisely, each agent has the same number of partners in every stable matching. Stable matchings also have the polarity property (supremum with respect to one side is identical to infimum with respect to the other side) and a property we call complementarity

    A systematic review research: 'Mathematics Anxiety' in Turkey

    The aim of this study was to conduct a systematic review research concentrating on studies regarding 'Mathematics anxiety'. 59 papers were reanalyzed in order to answer the questions derived from the main aim in terms of the rules of systematic review method. These studies were reviewed and analyzed by taking account of their aims, designs, sampling and results. While doing this, the similarities and differences of the reviewed studies were also found. It was seen that most of these studies conducted with middle school students. It was also found that the majority of reviewed studies were designed according to quantitative approaches. The review shows that mathematics anxiety is resulted from students' achievement, self-efficacy and fear along with parents' and teachers' lack of supports in mathematics. The results gathered from reviewed studies suggest that studies designed with approaches like qualitative and mixed-method and studies focused on various topics related with 'Mathematics anxiety' with different sampling are needed. In conclusion, this systematic review study provides some fruitful information for the area and so for the further studies

    On preferences over subsets and the lattice structure of stable matchings

    This paper studies the structure of stable multipartner matchings in two-sided markets where choice functions are quotafilling in the sense that they satisfy the substitutability axiom and, in addition, fill a quota whenever possible. It is shown that (i) the set of stable matchings is a lattice under the common revealed preference orderings of all agents on the same side, (ii) the supremum (infimum) operation of the lattice for each side consists componentwise of the join (meet) operation in the revealed preference ordering of the agents on that side, and (iii) the lattice has the polarity, distributivity, complementariness and full-quota properties

    Some developing economies (especially East Asian Countries) have long imitated western technology. It means that these economies adopted an imitative attitude to new industrial technologies with regard to technology policies. Some changes recently have occurred. Asian economies such as South Korea and Taiwan begin to become fast innovators. Since this development that stimulates the imitation of technology makes worried some rich countries, some measures against this development have been taken by the global economic institutions which are driven by rich countries.     Generally, “industrial policy” can be defined as government interventions to promote industrial development beyond what would be realized by free market conditions. In the globalisation processes, physical-resource-based industries are declining, while high-tech industries and services are fastly increasing. In the new techno-economic paradigm based on information & telecommunications technologies, innovative activities such as absorption-reproduction of new technologies and industrial research and development (R&D) have become key to international industrial competitiveness. So that, Turkey’s industrial policy that integreted with technology policy should realize the technological competence and industrial deepening (structural change) as a shift from labour and resource-based products to high-tech-based products. In 2003, T.R Prime Ministry, State Planning Organization published a document is titeled Industrial Policy For Turkey (Towards EU Membership). The aim of this paper is to criticize “Industrial Policy For Turkey”.     Pairing Games or Markets studied here are the non-two-sided NTU generalization of assignment games. We show that the Equilibrium Set is nonempty, that it is the set of stable allocations or the set of semistable allocations, and that it has has several notable structural properties. We also introduce the solution concept of pseudostable allocations and show that they are in the Demand Bargaining Set. We give a dynamic Market Procedure that reaches the Equilibrium Set in a bounded number of steps. We use elementary tools of graph theory and a representation theorem obtained here

    Surface modifications of graphene-based polymer nanocomposites by different synthesis techniques

    With the appropriate surface treatments, graphene sheets can be separated from graphite material and the layer-to-layer distance can be extended. In the present work, graphene nanosheets (GNS) were separated from graphite by an improved, safer and mild method including the steps of oxidation, thermal expansion, ultrasonic treatment and chemical reduction. For the production of advanced polymer nanocomposites, the distinguished properties of GNS were combined with the structural properties of conducting polypyrrole by the proposed simple and low-cost fabrication technique.     For the production of advanced types of catalyst support materials, the distinguished properties of graphene nanosheets were combined with the structural properties of conducting polypyrrole by the incorporation of graphene nanosheets into a polymer matrix by the proposed simple and low-cost fabrication technique. A precise tuning of electrical conductivity and thermal stability was achieved by controlling the polymer thickness of randomly dispersed graphene nanosheets. Initially, graphene nanosheets were fabricated in large quantities via a mild chemical synthetic route involving graphite oxidation, ultrasonic treatment, and chemical reduction. Then, polypyrrole/graphene nanosheet composites with improved conductivity, thermal stability, and high surface area were synthesized by in situ polymerization with the different pyrrole feed ratios. Although graphite oxide sheets have electrically insulating property, partially oxidized graphite oxide was also utilized as conductive fillers in polymer matrix. However, polypyrrole/graphene nanosheet composites have better electrical conductivity than polypyrrole/graphite oxide composites

    Synthesis and characterization of novel graft copolymers by radiation induced grafting

    The radiation-induced graft copolymerization of N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone (NVP), 4-vinyl pyridine (4VP), 2-vinyl pyridine (2VP) monomers onto poly (ethylene-alt-tetrafluoroethylene) (ETFE) was investigated. The influence of synthesis conditions particularly the solvent was studied. Various solvents, such as n-propanol, isoproponol, benzyl alcohol, methanol, ethanol, cyclohexanone, tetrahydrofuran (THF), nitromethane, 1,4-dioxane and n-heptane were examined for this purpose. Graft copolymers were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), and scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM-EDAX). It was found that the nature of the solvent had profound influence over the grafting reaction. Cyclohexanone, n-propanol and isoproponol for 4VP/ETFE grafting, THF and 1,4-dioxane for NVP/ETFE grafting and benzyl alcohol and methanol for 2VP/ETFE grafting were found to be the suitable solvents yielding highest graft levels. Isoproponol and n-propanol are promising in terms of both graft level and mechanical properties for 4VP/ETFE. Grafting of NVP, 4VP and 2VP onto ETFE were verified through FTIR spectroscopy. Storage modulus and glass transition temperature of the copolymers were found to increase as graft level increased. Surface profile of representative films was also investigated by viewing the distribution of elemental nitrogen using SEM-EDAX. Results indicated that copolymers of 4VP, NVP and 2VP are considerably different from each other. 4VP based copolymers exhibited relatively more homogenous grafting over the surface compared to NVP and 2VP based copolymers
