J/ production in In-In and p-A collisions
The NA60 experiment studies dimuon production in In-In and p-A collisions at
the CERN SPS. We report recent results on \jpsi production, measured through
its muon pair decay. As a function of centrality, we show that in In-In the
\jpsi yield is suppressed beyond expectations from nuclear absorption. We
present also for the first time results on \jpsi production in p-A collisions
at 158 GeV, the same energy of the nucleus-nucleus data. For both p-A and In-In
we show preliminary results on \psip suppression. Finally, we have studied the
kinematical distributions of the \jpsi produced in In-In collisions. We present
results on transverse momentum and rapidity, as well as on the angular
distribution of the \jpsi decay products.Comment: 8 pages, Quark Matter 2006 conference proceeding
In-medium vector mesons and low mass lepton pairs from heavy ion collisions
The rho and omega meson self-energy at finite temperature and baryon density
have been analysed for an exhaustive set of mesonic and baryonic loops in the
real time formulation of thermal field theory. The large enhancement of
spectral strength below the nominal rho mass is seen to cause a substantial
enhancement in dilepton pair yield in this mass region. The integrated yield
after space-time evolution using relativistic hydrodynamics with quark gluon
plasma in the initial state leads to a very good agreement with the
experimental data from In-In collisions obtained by the NA60 collaboration.Comment: Invited Talk at the DAE-BRNS Workshop on Hadron Physics, Bhabha

production in and collisions measured by PHENIX at RHIC
PHENIX preliminary results on the production in and
collisions at GeV are presented. They are compared to
results from lower energy experiments NA50 and NA60 at CERN SPS and to
expectations from various theoretical models.Comment: 4 pages, 7 figures, Proceedings for the SQM2006 Conference, submitted

NA60 results on spectra and the spectral function in In-In collisions
The NA60 experiment at the CERN SPS has studied low-mass muon pairs in 158
AGeV In-In collisions. A strong excess of pairs is observed above the yield
expected from neutral meson decays. The unprecedented sample size of close to
400K events and the good mass resolution of about 2% have made it possible to
isolate the excess by subtraction of the decay sources (keeping the ).
The shape of the resulting mass spectrum exhibits considerable broadening, but
essentially no shift in mass. The acceptance-corrected transverse-momentum
spectra have a shape atypical for radial flow and show a significant mass
dependence, pointing to different sources in different mass regions.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures, Quark Matter 2006 conference proceeding
NA60 results on Quarkonia
The NA60 experiment at CERN SPS has performed a study of J/Psi production in p-A collisions at 158 GeV incident energy. For the first time it has been possible to study cold-nuclear matter effects at the same energy as In-In and Pb-Pb collisions, where an "anomalous J/Psi suppression" had been observed. We present preliminary results on the J/Psi absorption cross section at 158 GeV and compare them with a "reference measurement" taken with the same apparatus at 400 GeV and with other results available in the literature
Latest results from NA60
NA60 is a fixed target experiment at the CERN SPS studying dimuon production in different colliding systems: In-In at 158 A GeV incident energy and p-A collisions at 158 and 400 GeV. A strong excess of dimuon pairs has been observed in the region of the invariant mass spectrum below the J/Ï. The high resolution of the NA60 detector allowed to measure the in-medium modifications of the Ï spectral function and to clarify the origin of the dimuon excess in the region above the . The J/Ï suppression has been studied in In-In and p-A collisions at 158 GeV incident energy. The latest results on these topics are addressed in this paper
Recent results from the CERN NA60 experiment
NA60 is a CERN SPS experiment that studied dimuon production in In-In collisions at 158 A\ub7GeV
per nucleon. More recently proton nucleus collisions have also been investigated in order to provide a reference for heavy ion studies. Some of the most important results obtained by the experiment are the first measurement of the rho spectral function in nuclear collision and the study
of its medium-induced modifications, the production of thermal muon pairs in the invariant mass region between the phi and the J/psi, and the study of the J/psi suppression. Recent results include further studies on the characterization of thermal pairs, the comparison of phi production in \ub5\ub5
and KK channels (the phi puzzle) and the first measurement of cold nuclear matter effects on J/psi
production at 158 GeV, the same energy where the anomalous J/psi suppression has been observed
