Test of Chemical freeze-out at RHIC
We present the results of a systematic test applying statistical thermal
model fits in a consistent way for different particle ratios, and different
system sizes using the various particle yields measured in the STAR experiment.
Comparison between central and peripheral Au+Au and Cu+Cu collisions with data
from p+p collisions provides an interesting tool to verify the dependence with
the system size. We also present a study of the rapidity dependence of the
thermal fit parameters using available data from RHIC in the forward rapidity
regions and also using different parameterization for the rapidity distribution
of different particles.Comment: SQM2008 conference proceeding

Exotic looped trajectories via quantum marking
We provide an analytical and theoretical study of exotic looped trajectories
(ELTs) in a double-slit interferometer with quantum marking. We use an excited
Rydberg-like atom and which-way detectors such as superconducting cavities,
just as in the Scully-Englert-Walther interferometer. We indicate appropriate
conditions on the atomic beam or superconducting cavities so that we determine
an interference pattern and fringe visibility exclusive from the ELTs. We
quantitatively describe our results for Rubidium atoms and propose this
framework as an alternative scheme to the double-slit experiment modified to
interfere only these exotic trajectories.Comment: 10 pages, 5 figure
Fourier Eigenfunctions, Uncertainty Gabor Principle and Isoresolution Wavelets
Shape-invariant signals under Fourier transform are investigated leading to a
class of eigenfunctions for the Fourier operator. The classical uncertainty
Gabor-Heisenberg principle is revisited and the concept of isoresolution in
joint time-frequency analysis is introduced. It is shown that any Fourier
eigenfunction achieve isoresolution. It is shown that an isoresolution wavelet
can be derived from each known wavelet family by a suitable scaling.Comment: 6 pages, XX Simp\'osio Bras. de Telecomunica\c{c}\~oes, Rio de

Directional shift current in mirror-symmetric BCN
We present a theoretical study of the shift current in a noncentrosymmetric
polytype of graphitic BCN. We find that the photoconductivity near the
fundamental gap is strongly anisotropic due to the vanishing of particular
tensor components not foretold by point-group symmetry arguments; this is a
consequence of dipole selection rules imposed by mirror symmetry, which imply
that the relative parities between valence and conduction bands are key for
determining the directionality of the band-edge response. In addition, the
band-edge photoconductivity turns out to be rather large, with the peak value
occurring in an energy range suitable for optical manipulationComment: 7 pages, 4 figure
