The meaning of work for users of mental health services included in income generation projects linked or not to the movement of solidarity economy

Among the advances resulting from the process of the Psychiatric Reform in Brazil in 2004, apartnership was started between the Mental Health Technical Division of the Ministry of Health and the SolidarityEconomy National Secretary of the Ministry of Labor with the objective of promoting experiments of incomegeneration in the field of mental health. The purpose of the present study was to identify the meaning of labor tothe users of mental health services participating in projects of income generation, linked or not to the movementof solidarity economy. The qualitative research approach was adopted. The study comprised two subject groups,each one consisting of five users of mental health services participating in projects of income generation: onelinked to the movement of solidarity economy and the other not linked to this movement. Results show thataccording to the perception of the participants, labor promotes personal and social changes, constitutes a source for personal satisfaction, and stimulates the construction of life projects, in addition contributing to recuperationand making social and material exchanges possible. The participation of the mental health user in the solidarityeconomy movement is a rich experience, because it facilitates self-managed labor and promotes exchange ofsupport, affection and solidarity. It is believed that studies developed in that direction can provide subsidies tothe elaboration and implementation of public policies that promote the generation of work and income, creatingconditions for those people that find themselves in social disadvantage to be inserted or returned to the laborenvironment

Afastamento e retorno ao trabalho: relatos de servidores públicos municipais

objetivo do estudo foi verificar qual(is) suporte(s) trabalhadores afastados por transtornos mentais e do comportamento receberam no momento do afastamento do trabalho, mas,especialmente, no retorno às atividades, após receberem benefício auxílio-doença concedido pelo INSS. Participaram do estudo sete trabalhadores de uma Prefeitura Municipal do interior do estado de São Paulo, que conseguiram retornar às atividades de trabalho após serem afastados por 30 dias ou mais com diagnóstico primário de Transtornos Mentais e do Comportamento, no período de janeiro de 2008 a dezembro de 2012. A coleta de dados se deu por meio do preenchimento de um protocolo de informações pessoais, profissionais e referentes ao processo de afastamento e retorno ao trabalho e da aplicação de uma entrevista semiestruturada. Para análise dos dados, foi utilizada a técnica de Análise Temática. Osresultados mostraram que os participantes identificam família, amigos, profissionais da saúde e da prefeitura e eles mesmos como suporte durante o afastamento e no retorno às atividades de trabalho.The aim of this study was to determine which one support workers away from mental and behavioral disorders received at time of absence from work, but especially in returning activities after receiving sickness benefit granted by the INSS. Participants were sevenemployees of a municipal government in the state of São Paulo, which got to return to work activities after being away for 30 days or more with a primary diagnosis of Mental and Behavioral Disorders, from January 2008 to December, 2012. Data collection was done through filling in a protocol for personal, professional and related to the removal and returnto work and the application of a semi-structured interview. For data analysis the technique of thematic analysis was used. The results showed that the participants identified family, friends, health and from the municipal government professionals and themselves as support during removal and return to work activities

The practice of the occupational therapist in work and income generation initiatives: contributions from the profession’s fundamentals and the work category dimensions

Occupational therapists have been seeking to enhance and legitimize himself as a professional in face of the reoccurring changes in the fi eld of mental health, thus they have been perfecting theirinterventions in the scope of prevention and promotion of health, treatment, rehabilitation and social inclusion. This study is part of a Master’s research in which the general objective was to investigate the practice of the occupational therapists working in initiatives of work and income generation in the scope of mental health in São Paulo State, Brazil. This is a qualitative study which was attended by 16 occupational therapists working on initiatives to generate work and income intended for users of mental health in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. For the collection of data we have used two instruments, a semi-structured questionnaire and a semi-structured interview script. The data from the questionnaires were analyzed descriptively and the interviews were subjected to thematic analysis technique. It was possible to verify themature conception from the professionals regarding the understanding of the activity and work in these contexts those break up with the therapeutic conception, demonstrating a practice consistent with the principles of psychosocial rehabilitation and with what is being advocated by the social inclusion policy at work.Os terapeutas ocupacionais vêm buscando aprimorar-se e legitimar-se como profissional diante das mudanças ocorridas no campo da saúde mental e assim vêm aperfeiçoando suas intervenções no nível de prevenção e promoção de saúde, tratamento, reabilitação e inclusão social. Este estudo é um recorte da pesquisa de mestrado cujo objetivo geral foi investigar a prática dos terapeutas ocupacionais que trabalham em iniciativas de geração de trabalho e renda no âmbito da saúde mental no estado de São Paulo. Trata-se de um estudo de abordagem qualitativa do qual participaram 16 terapeutas ocupacionais que atuam em iniciativas de geração de trabalho e renda destinados a usuários da saúde mental no Estado de São Paulo. Para a coleta de dados utilizou-se 2 instrumentos, um questionário semiestruturado e um roteiro de entrevista semiestruturado. Os dados provenientes dos questionários foram analisados de maneira descritiva e as entrevistas foram submetidas à técnica de Análise Temática. Foi possível verificar a concepção amadurecida, por parte das profissionais, acerca da compreensão da atividade e do trabalho nestes contextos que rompem com a concepção terapêutica, demonstrando uma prática condizente com os pressupostos da reabilitação psicossocial e com o que vem sendo preconizado pela política de inclusão social pelo trabalho

Caracterização de iniciativas de geração de trabalho e renda destinadas a usuários de serviços de saúde mental e aproximação com a economia solidária: a realidade do Estado de São Paulo

A inauguração da parceria entre a Área Técnica de Saúde Mental e a Secretaria Nacional de Economia Solidária com o objetivo de fomentar as iniciativas de trabalho no campo da saúde mental, impulsionou o aumento progressivo no número destas inciativas e o investimento nestas como estratégias de inclusão social. O presente estudo teve como objetivos caracterizar as iniciativas de geração de trabalho e renda compostas por usuários de serviços de saúde mental no estado de São Paulo e identificar se estas iniciativas estão vinculadas ao movimento da economia solidária. Trata-se de um estudo transversal descritivo de abordagem qualitativa do qual participaram 16 terapeutas ocupacionais. Para a coleta de dados foi elaborado um questionário semiestruturado. Os dados provenientes deste instrumento foram analisados de maneira descritiva. Os resultados revelam que o tempo de existência das iniciativas variou entre 5 e 20 anos, que a maioria conta somente com usuários da saúde mental e afirmam estar vinculadas à economia solidária. O presente estudo revelou aspectos potenciais das iniciativas no processo de afirmação dos usuários como cidadãos e potenciais trabalhadores, entretanto, desafios precisam ser enfrentados, principalmente no que diz respeito à geração de renda.The inauguration of the partnership between the technical area of mental healthcare and the National Secretary of Solidary Economy to foster work initiatives in the context of mental healthcare led to their progressive increase and brought more investments for them, as part of a strategy focused on social inclusion. This study characterizes initiatives aimed at work and income generation for users of mental health services in the state of São Paulo and examines if they are linked to solidarity economy. Sixteen occupational therapists participated in this cross-sectional descriptive study with a qualitative approach, and we developed a semi-structured questionnaire to collect data, which were analyzed descriptively. Results showed that initiatives had existed for 5 to 20 years, and most of them relied only on mental healthcare users and claimed to be related to solidarity economy. This study revealed the potential aspects of the initiatives in the affirmation process of the users as citizens and workers; however, challenges need to be faced, especially regarding income generation

Concepções sobre trabalho elaboradas por usuários de saúde mental envolvidos em projetos de inserção laboral

The present paper chose like investigation focus the work developed by users of mental health services in workshops of income generation or in social cooperatives. The aim was to identify the conception of work formed by the users. This study has involved fi fteen users. The free observation technique, a semi-structured interview and a document searching were used in order to gather data. The empiric material was submitted to Thematic Analysis. The analysis of the material was based on the theoretical concepts of the Solidarity Economy and Deinstitutionalization. The results showed that on the conception of the participants ofthis study work is an important tool for the social emancipation of the people promoting self-knowledge and self-confi dence. It is important to mention the importance of the view of the social actors who are compromised directly with the laboral insertion.O presente estudo elegeu como foco de investigação o trabalho desenvolvido por usuários de serviços de saúde mental em oficinas de geração de renda ou em cooperativas sociais. Objetivou-se identificar as concepções acerca do trabalho elaboradas pelos mesmos. Participaram do estudo quinze usuários. Para a coleta de material, utilizou-se a técnica da observação livre, entrevista semi-estruturada e busca documental. O material empírico foi submetido à Análise Temática. A análise do material foi subsidiada pelos pressupostos teóricos da Desinstitucionalização e da Economia Solidária. Os resultados mostraram que na concepção dos participantes o trabalho é uma importante ferramenta para a emancipação social das pessoas e um recurso que promove o autoconhecimento e a auto-realização. Empresa social y economía solidaria: perspectivas en el campo de la inserción laboral de portadores de transtorno mental

The psychiatric reform process requires the implementation of public policies that guarantee the work inclusion of individuals with mental disorders. To do this, work must be understood as a promoter of autonomy, emancipation and citizenship. The objective of this study is to reflect on the theoretical concepts related to social insertion through work, with the purpose of exploring the inclusion of individuals with mental disorders in the work market. The concepts social company and solidary economy where selected as fundamental for the study. In the social company, the subject is considered to be a social being, focusing on the development process towards emancipation. In solidary economy, the objective is to develop an economy that is more just, equal and solidary. Further discussions on these concepts should be developed to support the implementation of projects for social inclusion through work.O processo da reforma psiquiátrica requer a implementação de políticas públicas que garantam a inserção laboral de portadores de transtorno mental. Para tal, é necessário que o trabalho seja compreendido como promotor de autonomia, de emancipação e de cidadania. O objetivo deste estudo é refletir acerca de concepções teóricas relacionadas à inserção social pelo trabalho, a fim de explorar o campo da inclusão de portadores de transtorno mental no mundo do trabalho. Foram escolhidos os conceitos de empresa social e de economia solidária como fundamentais para o estudo. Na empresa social, o sujeito é entendido como ser social, enfocando-se seu processo de formação no sentido da emancipação. Na economia solidária, objetiva-se o desenvolvimento de uma forma de economia mais justa que tem como característica a igualdade e a solidariedade. Oficina integrada de geração de trabalho e renda: estratégia para formação de empreendimento econômico solidário

The Integrated workshop of work and incomegeneration was composed of users of mental health services and other residents living in the territory target of a project conducted by the Regional Incubator of Popular CooperativesUFSCar (INCOOP / UFSCar). The study aimed to understand the perceptions of the participants of this workshop as a strategy for formation of solidary economical enterprise and understand what was important for them to accept work according to the principles of solidarity economy. This is a qualitative approach. For the data collection we used semi-structured interviews that were applied to all the participants of the workshop that remained throughout the work, totaling fi ve people. The results indicate that the workshop provided the directing and the guidance of participants and showed as a space to inclusion of users of mental health. Among the reasons that led the participants to remain in the workshop highlights the self-management. It is believed that studies carried out in this direction can aid in the development of public policies that foster social technologies aimed at social inclusion of people who are social disadvantaged.A oficina integrada de geração de trabalho e renda foi composta por usuários de serviços da saúde mental e outros moradores residentes no território-alvo de um projeto realizado pela Incubadora Regional de Cooperativas Populares da UFSCar (INCOOP/UFSCar) que visava o desenvolvimento territorial de bairros periféricos no âmbito da economia solidária (ES). O estudo teve como objetivo conhecer as percepções das participantes da ofi cina sobre esta como estratégia para a formação de um empreendimento econômico solidário e compreender o que foi determinante para elas aceitarem trabalhar de acordo com os princípios da ES. Trata-se de um estudo de abordagem qualitativa. Para a coleta de dados utilizou-se entrevistas semiestruturadas que foram aplicadas com todas as participantes da ofi cina que permaneceram durante todo o trabalho, totalizando cinco pessoas. Os resultados apontam que a ofi cina propiciou o encaminhamento e a orientação das participantes e mostrou-se como espaço de inclusão de usuários da saúde mental. Dentre os motivos que levaram as participantes a permanecerem na ofi cina destaca-se a autogestão. Acredita-se que estudos desenvolvidos nesta direção possam fornecer subsídios para a elaboração de políticas públicas que fomentem tecnologias sociais que visem a inclusão social das pessoas em situação de desvantagem social.

Technological incubators of popular cooperatives: reality of the incubation of solidarity economy enterprises with the participation of users of mental health services.

As Incubadoras Tecnológicas de Cooperativas Populares (ITCPs) são organizações vinculadas às universidades que têm papel importante no desenvolvimento da Economia Solidária. Com o surgimento da reabilitação psicossocial, os empreendimentos econômicos solidários (EES) tornaram-se uma alternativa de inserção social pelo trabalho para usuários de serviços de saúde mental. A presente pesquisa objetivou investigar quais ITCPs estão incubando EES que contam com a participação destes usuários, caracterizar esses empreendimentos e identificar as principais demandas, desafios, dificuldades e oportunidades encontradas no processo de incubação de tais empreendimentos. Trata-se de estudo qualitativo que teve participação de 4 profissionais responsáveis pela incubação dos EES vinculados a 3 ITCPs. Os resultados apontaram que as demandas, os desafios, as dificuldades e as oportunidades relacionam-se principalmente com: o exercício da autogestão; os processos de produção; a interferência das subjetividades dos participantes dos EES no trabalho coletivo e aos apoios e parcerias. As intervenções dos técnicos de incubação se mostraram essenciais para a possível resolubilidade das dificuldades e aproveitamento das facilidades para efetivar a reabilitação psicossocial dos usuários.Technological incubators of popular cooperatives (ITCP - Incubadoras Tecnológicas de Cooperativas Populares) are organizations that are linked to universities and have an important role in the development of Solidarity Economy. With the rise of psychosocial rehabilitation, solidarity economy enterprises (Empreendimentos Econômicos Solidários - EES) became an alternative for mental health service users to be socially included. This study aimed at investigating which ITCPs are incubating EES with the participation of those users, at characterizing such ventures, and at identifying the main demands, challenges, difficulties, and opportunities that were found in the incubation process of such enterprises. It is a qualitative study that had 4 professionals in charge of the incubation of the EES linked to 3 ITCPs. The results pointed out that the demands, challenges, difficulties, and opportunities mainly relate to exercising self-management; production processes; interference from EES members’ subjectivities in the collective work and to support initiatives and partnerships. The interventions from the incubation technicians were found to be essential to solve problems and to make the most of the facilities to achieve the users’ psychosocial rehabilitation

Occupational Therapy and informal work: reflections for practicing

Introduction: Because of the growing number of informal workers in Brazil and with the implementation of the “Labor Reform”, it is important to understand the issue of informal work, pointing out challenges for professions dedicated to the care/attention to workers, such as Occupational Therapy. Objective: To discuss the issue of informal work in contemporary times and to indicate possible consequences for the practice of Occupational Therapy. Method: This is a theoretical article that conducts discussions based on legal documents, current statistical data, studies that trace the historical panorama of the informal economy, and classic studies of Occupational Therapy in the work field. Results: Although interventions in Occupational Therapy and work have moved towards overcoming approaches strictly aimed at the return of motor functions, there are still practical challenges. In addition to the practices traditionally carried out, it is necessary to act considering that the deregulation of work results in consequences for the various areas of the workers' lives. It is necessary for professionals from the different pillars of social security to be committed, in addition to the health and social security network. The importance of practices aimed at exercising sociability, awareness, and information about rights in the sense of social transformation is pointed out. Conclusion: Given the current situation, it is necessary to expand the performance of the profession in the field of work to include informal workers. One must understand the reality of these workers in the different devices that receive them and the economic/social issues involved in the development of this type of work

Juventudes, uberização e informalidade

Documentos oficiais e pesquisas científicas explicitam que a juventude brasileira pobre se insere em trabalhos informais e uberizados por necessidade, e não por desejo. Este estudo etnográfico proporcionou encontros em profundidade com jovens entregadores de comida na Paraíba/Brasil, durante os anos de 2019 e 2020, utilizando cadernos de campo, questionário socioeconômico e dados audiovisuais. Realizou-se análises de dados descritivas e teóricas, com enquadramento teórico de base materialista histórica. Identificou-se problemáticas sociais e de trabalho, assim como repercussões negativas do trabalho informal/uberizado na educação de jovens. Aponta-se que os serviços responsáveis (ligados aos jovens, à educação e ao trabalho) devem elaborar estratégias intersetoriais de inserção/permanência de jovens na educação e no mercado de trabalho, sempre compreendendo as especificidades das juventudes, a importância da educação e da inserção em trabalhos dignos, seguros e próximos dos desejos dos envolvidos
