    Selenium dioxide oxidation of acetoxycoriaceolide (Stryphnodendron coriaceum sapogenin B) leads to compounds exhibiting abnormal ultraviolet absorption.     Triterpenoid saponins from Berneuxia thebetica Decne

    Four triterpenoid saponins were isolated from Berneuxia thibetica Decne. On the basis of chemical and spectroscopic evidence, three new saponins, berneuxia saponins A, B and C were elucidated as 21-tigloylbarringtogenol C-3 beta-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl (1-->2)-beta-D-galactopyranosyl(1-->3)[beta-D-glucopyranosyl(1-->2)-beta-D-glucuronopyranoside], 28-tigloyl-barringtogenol C-3 beta-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1-->2)-beta-D-galactopyranosyl(1-->3)-beta-D-glucuronopyranoside] and 16 alpha-28-dihydroxyolean-12-en-12-one-3-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1-->2)-beta-D-galactopyranosyl(1-->3)[beta-D-glucopyranosyl(1-->2)-beta-D-glucuronopyranoside].
