Feature Analysis of the “Customer Relationship Management” Systems for Higher Education Institutions

    Get PDF
[EN] Universities, business schools and other higher education institutions all over the world are experiencing deep changes in the way they work and interrelate with their ‘clients’, i.e. students and their relatives, alumni and donors, faculty and staff members, because these constituents are demanding more attention through different channels as well as immediate response and service. Technology - materialized in the form of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems - is the great promise for solving these demands. This article summarizes the features a CRM system should possess to make educational institutions thrive in the current digital era, and points out the future trends on this topic. The final objective is neither an analysis of the applications available on the market nor a selection guide, but a recommendation for the end users to utilize a CRM system when considering achieving some of the business needs implied in the features available on these CRMs.De Juan-Jordán, H.; Guijarro-García, M.; Hernandez Gadea, J. Efficiency in Social Enterprises

[EN] The aim of this article is to offer a review of the impact the different methodologies of analysis have on social enterprises, focusing the study on processes that establish a greater universality based on the degree of success achieved in their social objectives, the social reinvestment of their benefits and their democratic organisation, parameters that should favour the creation of a clear and simple method, as well as adaptable to change. The systematics will allow to establish systems for the measurement of the efficiency of social enterprises, in order to both organise objective procedures of comparison and offer support when applying for public aid derived from European and national funds set up for this purpose. The quantification of the social impact of the companies that constitute the social economy is vital to assess and follow up on their social mission.Ballester-Miquel, JC.; Perez-Ruiz, P.; Hernandez-Gadea, J.; De Juan Jordán, H.; Guijarro García, M. A literature review of causal relationships in 21st century skills and digital leadership

[EN] The world today is constantly changing and evolving. The industry 4.0 revolution, digitisation, the arrival of the Internet of Things and the global health emergency caused by the Covid-19 crisis, are factors that have made companies have to adapt their business models and forms working to this new reality. For this reason, the need for improvement and adaptation of skills of employees and organisational capabilities is no longer a competitive advantage but necessary to survive. Digital competences, 21st century skills and digital leadership are concepts that have been widely studied theoretically in the last ten years. In addition, some empirical studies have established causal hypotheses between factors related to the skills of employees and company variables. Resilience, organisational learning capacity, agility, work engagement and motivation are the key factors that companies must promote and ensure among their employees for a correct evolution and adaptation to this new global situation.Orero-Blat, M.; De Juan Jordán, H.; Palacios Marqués, D. The measurement of digital skills and competences: a bibliometric analysis

[EN] The definition and measurement of digital skills and competences needed to succeed in the 21st century context has been a widely researched topic within the last years. Academics and professionals consider that it has an increasing importance due to the process of digital transformation in which the organisations and society are immersed, which is pushing to achieve a knowledge society. For these reasons, a bibliometric analysis of the topic plays a key role to have a big picture of the conducted research since the date and establish key countries, authors and journals which lead the investigation on the topic. Moreover, the analysis of the knowledge frontier and research gaps has discovered the stage in which this research line is situated and the needs for the establishment of future research guidelinesOrero-Blat, M.; De Juan Jordán, H.; Palacios Marqués, D. HAWC and Fermi-LAT detection of extended emission from the unidentified source 2HWC J2006+341

    No full text
The discovery of the TeV point source 2HWC J2006+341 was reported in the second HAWC gamma-ray catalog. We present a follow-up study of this source here. The TeV emission is best described by an extended source with a soft spectrum. At GeV energies, an extended source is significantly detected in Fermi-LAT data. The matching locations, sizes, and spectra suggest that both gamma-ray detections correspond to the same source. Different scenarios for the origin of the emission are considered and we rule out an association to the pulsar PSR J2004+3429 due to extreme energetics required, if located at a distance of 10.8 kpc.Universidad de Costa Rica/[112-B9-171]/UCR/Costa RicaUniversidad de Costa Rica/[112-B6-509]/UCR/Costa RicaUniversidad de Costa Rica/[829-B5-198]/UCR/Costa RicaUCR::Vicerrectoría de Docencia::Ciencias Básicas::Facultad de Ciencias::Escuela de Físic

The High-Altitude water cherenkov (HAWC) observatory in México: The primary detector

    No full text
The High-Altitude Water Cherenkov (HAWC) observatory is a second-generation continuously operated, wide field-of-view, TeV gamma-ray observatory. The HAWC observatory and its analysis techniques build on experience of the Milagro experiment in using ground-based water Cherenkov detectors for gamma-ray astronomy. HAWC is located on the Sierra Negra volcano in México at an elevation of 4100 meters above sea level. The completed HAWC observatory principal detector (HAWC) consists of 300 closely spaced water Cherenkov detectors, each equipped with four photomultiplier tubes to provide timing and charge information to reconstruct the extensive air shower energy and arrival direction. The HAWC observatory has been optimized to observe transient and steady emission from sources of gamma rays within an energy range from several hundred GeV to several hundred TeV. However, most of the air showers detected are initiated by cosmic rays, allowing studies of cosmic rays also to be performed. This paper describes the characteristics of the HAWC main array and its hardware.UCR::Vicerrectoría de Docencia::Ciencias Básicas::Facultad de Ciencias::Escuela de Físic
