Questions, aims & objectives: a mixed methods research. One of the most important mission of university is to incorporate the cultural and social changes in order to elaborate new reflections on didactics and research fields. The research is focused on how and why to integrate a gender education in PhD curriculum studies. The new idea has been listed among the priorities of intervention in the Horizon 2020

Tachyon warm inflationary universe model in the weak dissipative regime

Warm inflationary universe model in a tachyon field theory is studied in the weak dissipative regime. We develop our model for an exponential potential and the dissipation parameter Γ=Γ0\Gamma=\Gamma_0=constant. We describe scalar and tensor perturbations for this scenario.Comment: 9 pages, accepted by European Physical Journal

    Chronic disease in physical education

An observational and descriptive study of the epidemiology of chronic diseases in Physical Education classes in secondary education was carried out. It was conducted in 36 educational centers of the Autonomous Community of Madrid (Spain), in 4527 students, from 2003 to 2009. A questionnaire was used as data collection techniques. It revealed that a large number of students showed at least one chronic disease (53.19%) with a large amount of those suffering from multiple medical conditions (21.06%). The most prevalent illnesses include visual disturbances and eye diseases (44.37%), allergies (16.37%), misaligned teeth (8.61%), asthma (8.49%), scoliosis and kyphoscoliosis (6.29%). The most important chronic pathologies show a "prevalence pattern" which includes the previously mentioned diseases. The most common diseases in the analyzed chronology are compatible with the performance of the Physical Education lesson, but they may undermine its development if ignored

Curvature of the universe and the dark energy potential

The flatness of an accelerating universe model (characterized by a dark energy scalar field χ\chi) is mimicked from a curved model that is filled with, apart from the cold dark matter component, a quintessencelike scalar field QQ. In this process, we characterize the original scalar potential V(Q)V(Q) and the mimicked scalar potential V(χ)V(\chi) associated to the scalar fields QQ and χ\chi, respectively. The parameters of the original model are fixed through the mimicked quantities that we relate to the present astronomical data, such that the equation state parameter wχw_{_{\chi}} and the dark energy density parameter Ωχ\Omega_{\chi}.Comment: References 7 and 8 have been corrected: (7) Riess et al. 1998, AJ, 116, 1009 and (8) Perlmutter et al. 1999, ApJ, 517, 56

Inhomogeneous Kibble-Zurek mechanism: vortex nucleation during Bose-Einstein condensation

    Get PDF
The Kibble-Zurek mechanism is applied to the spontaneous formation of vortices in a harmonically trapped thermal gas following a temperature quench through the critical value for Bose-Einstein condensation. While in the homogeneous scenario vortex nucleation is always expected, we show that it can be completely suppressed in the presence of the confinement potential, whenever the speed of the spatial front undergoing condensation is lower than a threshold velocity. Otherwise, the interplay between the geometry and causality leads to different scaling laws for the density of vortices as a function of the quench rate, as we also illustrate for the case of a toroidal trapping potential.Comment: 11 pages, 3 figure

Detrimental effect of rutin on Anticarsia gemmatalis.

Behavioral and nutritional effect of rutin (quercetin 3-O-rutinosídeo) on Anticarsia gemmatalis Hübner (Lep.: Noctuidae), a major soybean defoliator in Brazil, was evaluated from the third instar to pupation. Rutin is one of the flavonol glycosides identified in the leaves of the wild soybean PI 227687. Larval weight and amount of ingested food decreased as rutin concentration in the diet increase. An interactive effect between feeding time and diet (treatment) was observed on insect growth; when larvae fed on pure-diet, feeding time elongation resulted in heavier pupae. Differently, the weight of larvae fed on rutin-diet remained almost stable, in spite of eating for longer. A. gemmatalis growth was negatively influenced by rutin-diet not only by feeding deterrence but also by post-ingestive effect on insect growth, since after adjustment of pupal weight by the amount of ingested food (covariate), the effect of diet remained significant. Rutin negatively influenced A. gemmatalis growth as result of pre-ingestive effect, indicated by reduction in food consumption, and post-ingestive effect, indicated by lower conversion of ingested food into body mass and food assimilation
