IMPACTS OF DIFFERENT CONCENTRATIONS OF AQUEOUS GREEN TEA EXTRACT ADMINISTERED DURING METHOTREXATE TREATMENT ON SOME SELECTED BLOOD INDICES IN RATS

Objective: This study was designed to investigate the impacts of administering of different concentrations of Aqueous Green Tea Extract (AGTE) (0.625, 1.25 or 2.5%) during Methotrexate (MTX) treatment, and continued for 5 days, on blood indices in rats. Methods: Six groups of white Albino rats were utilized:  Group I- (Control, received water); Group II- [single i. p. injection (20 mg/kg) of MTX], Group III- [1.25% concentration of AGTE alone for 5 days], and Groups IV, V and VI- [rats were administered, respectively AGTE (0.625, 1.25 or 2.5%), during MTX treatment, and continued for 5 days]. Results: The results showed that MTX alone induced significant decreases in Hb, HCT, MCHC, MCH, RBCs, and total WBCs; while, it increased platelets count. Administration of different concentrations of AGTE during MTX produced significant decrease in total WBCs and platelets;  while significant increase in Hb, HCT, MCHC, MCH;  meanwhile, significant increase, or decrease, respectively in MCV (depending on the concentration of AGTE); and a significant increase in RBCs only was seen at 2.5% AGTE plus MTX), compared to MTX-treated animals. Conclusion: Marked alterations in blood indices were obtained from this study when AGTE was administered during MTX treatment. So this study recommends taking into account such administration when MTX is therapeutically utilized

Semantic and organization considerations in database conceptual modelling : the Semantic Conceptual Organizational Model (SECOM)

This thesis presents a new approach to designing large organizational databases. The approach emphasizes the need for a holistic approach to the design process. The development of the proposed approach was based on a comprehensive examination of the issues of relevance to the design and utilization of databases. Such issues include conceptual modelling, organization theory, and semantic theory. The conceptual modelling approach presented in this thesis is developed over three design stages, or model perspectives. In the semantic perspective, concept definitions were developed based on established semantic principles. Such definitions rely on meaning - provided by intension and extension - to determine intrinsic conceptual definitions. A tool, called meaning-based classification (MBC), is devised to classify concepts based on meaning. Concept classes are then integrated using concept definitions and a set of semantic relations which rely on concept content and form. In the application perspective, relationships are semantically defined according to the application environment. Relationship definitions include explicit relationship properties and constraints. The organization perspective introduces a new set of relations specifically developed to maintain conformity of conceptual abstractions with the nature of information abstractions implied by user requirements throughout the organization. Such relations are based on the stratification of work hierarchies, defined elsewhere in the thesis. Finally, an example of an application of the proposed approach is presented to illustrate the applicability and practicality of the modelling approach

Characterization of mouse major urinary protein genes

Major urinary protein (MUP) genes were isolated from C57 genomic libraries, characterized by restriction enzyme mapping and compared with MUP genes isolated from BALB/c genomic libraries (Clark et al, 1982; Bishop et al, 1982). The conclusions drawn from the characterization of this new set of MUP genes are in agreement with those previously drawn from studies on the BALB/c MUP genes.Most MUP genes were found to share extensive homology in their transcription units and 5' and 3' flanking regions. Exceptions were those genes whose coding regions have been interupted by insertions and/or deletions. The MUP genes fall into two main groups based on hybridization criteria: group 1 and group 2 (Bishop et al, 1982). With the exception of one group 2 gene (BL-25/CL-2), restriction site homology was found to be greater within groups than between than. Restriction site homologies further divided the group 1 genes into two sub-groups. Sequence data revealed that the two sub-groups have different forms of an A-rich region located M0bp upstream of the TATA box.Messenger RNA from tissues that express MUP was shown to be more homologous to group 1 coding sequences than to group 2 coding sequences. In the liver, two forms of MUP mRNA can be distinguished. Group 1 sequences hybridized preferentially to the abundantly transcribed long form of the mRNA, while group 2 sequences hybridized preferentially to the short and rarer form of the mRNA. Genomic digests illustrated that two types of variation are found between the MUP genes of BALB/c and C57BL/Fa mice. The first relates to the presence of variant restriction fragments. Two cloned MUP genes carrying such fragments were identified. The second relates to variation in the intensity of common restriction fragments. Differences between the strains in the total number of MUP genes were not observed. Variation in the intensity of common restriction fragments are proposed to be the result of different homogenization events that took place in the mouse lineages from which BALB/c and C57BL/Fa were derived

The Joyful Interaction Management Strategy to Beautify the Relationship with the Customer an Exploratory Study in Some Basra Hospitals

The current research directed towards testing a model designed by the researcher to reveal the extent of the possibility of beautifying medical procedures in hospitals from the perspective of relationship management or the joyful interaction with the customer, by focusing on the procedural dimension of the specialized human and professional interaction between the health service provider and its recipient, and conducting an administrative beautification process to get rid of the distortions of medical qualities in dealing For health care providers in local hospitals. The proposed model, which the researcher tried to test in the field of practicing medicine, with a focus on the College of Medicine in Basra, revolves around three main variables:The care of the departments or deanships of medical colleges in Iraq with the customer and the need to go towards him, and work on creating a broad (R) relationship that focuses on the customer’s value and happiness and meeting his needs, and embracing health activities in a way that meets the customer’s desires (C) whether they are actual or potential and mixing these concepts The three (mix). Through a survey of the opinions of people specialized in health performance and other parties related to the research to try to beautify the deformities that occurred in the health performance with a questionnaire prepared by the researcher and distributed to (120) individuals with a variety of assortment to represent a random sample of doctors, workers and students practicing the medical profession, trainees and their supervisors, and at a rate of (20) A form for each of the six Basra hospitals (Basra General Hospital, Basra Maternity and Children Hospital.Ibn Ghazwan, Shifa General Hospital, Al-Sadr Teaching Hospital, Al-Tahrir General Hospital, Al-Fayhaa General Hospital) in which practical lessons are applied and medical cases conducted by the College of Medicine for its students, which are factories of health and medical information and an effective field. For scientific and practical application and observations, with a response rate of (66%), the research concluded, after conducting the statistical analysis process through data processing with the statistical spss program, that the surveyed organizations’ interest in the variables of the proposed model was less than the level required to rise to the trend in applying the concepts of the customer relationship management strategy Similar to the trends of health organizations in the developed world. The research recommended that the administrative authorities in the education corridors that provide the service of science and medical and health knowledge in Iraq must adopt the concept of relationship management with the customer and the recognition that the customer is the focus of the desired success and its role is very important for the educational health organization, which is the basis of information that constitutes the building block of education, and does not determine its activities from Without considering the customer as a source on which to draw its future directions.Therefore, this research was divided into four aspects, the first concerned, with the conceptual approach, the second concerned with the methodological aspect while the third was devoted to the applied aspect, and we concluded with the fourth aspect, under which the conclusions and recommendations reached by the research

Inhibitory Effect of Ethanolic Extract Isolated from Radix Pulasatillae Seeds against Proliferation of A549 Human Lung Cancer Cells

The present study was evaluated the anticancer activity of Radix Pulsatillae ethanol extract at first by using high throughput screening HTS for herb fractions screening in concentration of 100μM to identify the active fraction and then we measured the cytotoxic effects by using morphology changes, and detected apoptosis by Hoechst 33258 staining. Our results showed that Radix Pulsatillae ethanol extract has a strong toxicity against A549 lung cancer cells and low toxicity with mice normal splenocytes and requires more investigation to identify the small natural molecule with new anticancer activity and further mechanistic for cancer pathway
