neXtProt: a knowledge platform for human proteins
neXtProt (http://www.nextprot.org/) is a new human protein-centric knowledge platform. Developed at the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB), it aims to help researchers answer questions relevant to human proteins. To achieve this goal, neXtProt is built on a corpus containing both curated knowledge originating from the UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot knowledgebase and carefully selected and filtered high-throughput data pertinent to human proteins. This article presents an overview of the database and the data integration process. We also lay out the key future directions of neXtProt that we consider the necessary steps to make neXtProt the one-stop-shop for all research projects focusing on human protein
Development and Validation of a Symptom-Based Activity Index for Adults With Eosinophilic Esophagitis
Standardized instruments are needed to assess the activity of eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), to provide endpoints for clinical trials and observational studies. We aimed to develop and validate a patient-reported outcome (PRO) instrument and score, based on items that could account for variations in patients’ assessments of disease severity. We also evaluated relationships between patients’ assessment of disease severity and EoE-associated endoscopic, histologic, and laboratory findings

High-resolution two-dimensional in-phase multiplets in nuclear magnetic resonance correlation spectroscopy
It is shown how selective high resoln. 2-dimensional NMR spectra can be obtained which feature multiplets where all peaks have the same pos. sign and pure absorption lineshapes. [on SciFinder (R)
Suppression of spin diffusion in selected frequency bands of nuclear Overhauser spectra
A variant of 2-dimensional nuclear Overhauser effect spectroscopy (NOESY) is described that yields information about cross-relaxation rates between pairs of spins, while the migration of magnetization through several consecutive steps (spin diffusion via neighboring spins) is largely suppressed. This can be achieved by inserting a doubly-selective inversion pulse in a conventional NOESY sequence. [on SciFinder (R)
Generation of complementary multiplets for automated analysis of selective correlation spectra
Passive spin filters are combined with pure in-phase correlation spectroscopy (PICSY) to obtain SIS-(p,q)-PICSY expts., where p and q are the nos. of passive spins that are simultaneously or sequentially inverted during the evolution period and that are coupled to both source and target spins, resp. Conventional PICSY and SIS-(0,1)-PICSY spectra of cyclo-(L-proline1-L-proline2-D-proline3) are compared. [on SciFinder (R)
