    At the inaugural conference of the Verband Fachdidaktik Musik Schweiz (Association for Musical Didactics Switzerland) on 16 January 2016, for which the general topic was “Orientations”, the stimulus paper and the ensuing rounds of moderated discussions examined the problems posed by the conflicting priorities of establishing an agreed, standardized reference framework while respecting the great diversity of musical education in Switzerland. It was suggested that a good starting platform might be Huib Schippers’ “Twelve Continuum Transmission Framework”. The discussions produced a consensus that only a process of constant renegotiation of position by all actors can lead to a robust concept of professionalization appropriate to the distinctive history and evolution of Switzerland

    Image-Less THA Cup Navigation in Clinical Routine Setup: Individual Adjustments, Accuracy, Precision, and Robustness.

    Background and Objectives: Even after the 'death' of Lewinnek's safe zone, the orientation of the prosthetic cup in total hip arthroplasty is crucial for success. Accurate cup placement can be achieved with surgical navigation systems. The literature lacks study cohorts with large numbers of hips because postoperative computer tomography is required for the reproducible evaluation of the acetabular component position. To overcome this limitation, we used a validated software program, HipMatch, to accurately assess the cup orientation based on an anterior-posterior pelvic X-ray. The aim of this study were to (1) determine the intraoperative 'individual adjustment' of the cup positioning compared to the widely suggested target values of 40° of inclination and 15° of anteversion, and evaluate the (2) 'accuracy', (3) 'precision', and (4) robustness, regarding systematic errors, of an image-free navigation system in routine clinical use. Material and Methods: We performed a retrospective, accuracy study in a single surgeon case series of 367 navigated primary total hip arthroplasties (PiGalileoTM, Smith+Nephew) through an anterolateral approach performed between January 2011 and August 2018. The individual adjustments were defined as the differences between the target cup orientation (40° of inclination, 15° of anteversion) and the intraoperative registration with the navigation software. The accuracy was the difference between the intraoperative captured cup orientation and the actual postoperative cup orientation determined by HipMatch. The precision was analyzed by the standard deviation of the difference between the intraoperative registered and the actual cup orientation. The outliers were detected using the Tukey method. Results: Compared to the target value (40° inclination, 15° anteversion), the individual adjustments showed that the cups are impacted in higher inclination (mean 3.2° ± 1.6°, range, (-2)-18°) and higher anteversion (mean 5.0° ± 7.0°, range, (-15)-23°) (p < 0.001). The accuracy of the navigated cup placement was -1.7° ± 3.0°, ((-15)-11°) for inclination, and -4.9° ± 6.2° ((-28)-18°) for anteversion (p < 0.001). Precision of the system was higher for inclination (standard deviation SD 3.0°) compared to anteversion (SD 6.2°) (p < 0.001). We found no difference in the prevalence of outliers for inclination (1.9% (7 out of 367)) compared to anteversion (1.63% (6 out of 367), p = 0.78). The Bland-Altman analysis showed that the differences between the intraoperatively captured final position and the postoperatively determined actual position were spread evenly and randomly for inclination and anteversion. Conclusion: The evaluation of an image-less navigation system in this large study cohort provides accurate and reliable intraoperative feedback. The accuracy and the precision were inferior compared to CT-based navigation systems particularly regarding the anteversion. However the assessed values are certainly within a clinically acceptable range. This use of image-less navigation offers an additional tool to address challenging hip prothesis in the context of the hip-spine relationship to achieve adequate placement of the acetabular components with a minimum of outliers

    Reliability and Reproducibility of a Novel Grading System for Lesions of the Ligamentous-Fossa-Foveolar Complex in Young Patients Undergoing Open Hip Preservation Surgery.

    Background Several classification systems based on arthroscopy have been used to describe lesions of the ligamentum teres (LT) in young active patients undergoing hip-preserving surgery. Inspection of the LT and associated lesions of the adjuvant fovea capitis and acetabular fossa is limited when done arthroscopically but is much more thorough during open surgical hip dislocation. Therefore, we propose a novel grading system based on our findings during surgical dislocation comprising the full spectrum of ligamentous-fossa-foveolar complex (LFFC) lesions. Purpose To determine (1) intraobserver reliability and (2) interobserver reproducibility of our new grading system. Study Design Cohort study (diagnosis); Level of evidence, 3. Methods We performed this validation study on 211 hips (633 images in total) with surgical hip dislocation (2013-2021). We randomly selected 5 images per grade for each LFFC item to achieve an equal representation of all grades (resulting in 75 images). The ligament, fossa, and fovea were subcategorized into normal, inflammation, degeneration, partial, and complete defects. All surgeries were performed in a standardized way by a single surgeon. The femur was disarticulated using a bone hook, the LT was inspected, documented and resected, then the fossa and fovea were documented with the femoral head in full dislocation using a 70° arthroscope. Six observers with different levels of expertise in hip-preserving surgery independently conducted the measurements twice, and intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC) were calculated to determine (1) intraobserver reliability and (2) interobserver reproducibility of the novel grading system. Results For intraobserver reliability, excellent ICCs were found in both the junior and the experienced raters for grading the ligament, fossa, fovea, and total LFFC (ICCs ranged from 0.91 to 0.99 for the LFFC score). We found excellent interobserver reproducibility between raters for all items of the LFFC (all interobserver ICCs ≥ 0.76). Conclusion Our new grading system for lesions of the LFFC is highly reliable and reproducible. It covers the full spectrum of damage more precisely than arthroscopic classifications do and offers a scientific basis for standardized intraoperative evaluation

    Vanishing spin alignment : experimental indication of triaxial 28Si+28Si\bf ^{28}Si + {^{28}Si} nuclear molecule

    Fragment-fragment-γ\gamma coincidences have been measured for 28Si+28Si\rm ^{28}Si + {^{28}Si} at an energy corresponding to the population of a conjectured resonance in 56^{56}Ni. Fragment angular distributions as well as γ\gamma-ray angular correlations indicate that the spin orientations of the outgoing fragments are perpendicular to the orbital angular momentum. This differs from the 24Mg+24Mg\rm ^{24}Mg+{^{24}Mg} and the 12C+12C\rm ^{12}C+{^{12}C} resonances, and suggests two oblate 28Si\rm ^{28}Si nuclei interacting in an equator-to-equator molecular configuration.Comment: 14 pages standard REVTeX file, 3 ps Figures -- Accepted for publication in Physical Review C (Rapid Communication

    Deformation effects in the 28^{28}Si+12^{12}C and 28^{28}Si+28^{28}Si reaction Search

    The possible occurence of highly deformed configurations is investigated in the 40^{40}Ca and 56^{56}Ni di-nuclear systems as formed in the 28^{28}Si+12^{12}C,28^{28}Si reactions by using the properties of emitted light charged particles. Inclusive as well as exclusive data of the heavy fragments and their associated light charged particles have been collected by using the {\sc ICARE} charged particle multidetector array. The data are analysed by Monte Carlo CASCADE statistical-model calculations using a consistent set of parameters with spin-dependent level densities.     Inclusive as well as exclusive energy spectra of the light charged particles emitted in the 28Si(Elab=112.6MeV)+28Si,12C^{28}Si(E_{lab}=112.6 MeV) + ^{28}Si,^{12}C reactions have been measured at the Strasbourg VIVITRON facility in the angular range 15^0 - 150^0, using the ICARE multidetector array.     Flavor Decomposition of the Polarized Quark Distributions in the Nucleon from Inclusive and Semi-inclusive Deep-inelastic Scattering

    Spin asymmetries of semi-inclusive cross sections for the production of positively and negatively charged hadrons have been measured in deep-inelastic scattering of polarized positrons on polarized hydrogen and 3He targets, in the kinematic range 0.023<x<0.6 and 1 GeV^2<Q^2<10 GeV^2. Polarized quark distributions are extracted as a function of x for up $(u+u_bar) and down (d+d_bar) flavors. The up quark polarization is positive and the down quark polarization is negative in the measured range. The polarization of the sea is compatible with zero. The first moments of the polarized quark distributions are presented. The isospin non-singlet combination Delta_q_3 is consistent with the prediction based on the Bjorken sum rule.
