    A single-end protection scheme for hybrid MMC HVDC grids considering the impacts of the active fault current-limiting control

    In the hybrid modular multilevel converter (MMC) based high voltage direct current (HVDC) systems, the fault current can be actively suppressed by the converter itself, which endows a smaller requirement for current-limiting reactors (CLR) and a larger time margin for fault detection algorithms, comparing with the half-bridge MMC. But the robustness to fault resistance and noise disturbance of existing boundary protection schemes will be deteriorated with small CLRs. Moreover, the fast response of the fault current-limiting control will change the output DC voltage of hybrid MMC, which affects the fault characteristics and may cause mal-operation of existing protection algorithms. Thus, a single-end protection scheme considering the impacts of the active current-limiting control is proposed for the hybrid MMC based DC grids. The traveling-wave characteristics under different fault stages are analyzed to evaluate the impacts of the fault current-limiting control. In addition, a coordination protection strategy versus different fault conditions is adopted to improve reliability. Various cases in PSCAD/EMTDC are simulated to verify that the proposed method is robust to fault resistance, fault distance, power reversal, AC faults, and immune to noise

    System Dynamics Model and Simulation of Employee Work-Family Conflict in the Construction Industry.

    The construction industry is a demanding work environment where employees' work-family conflict is particularly prominent. This conflict has a significant impact on job and family satisfaction and performance of employees. In order to analyze the dynamic evolution of construction industry employee's work-family conflict between work and family domains, this paper constructs a bi-directional dynamic model framework of work-family conflict by referring to the relevant literature. Consequently, a system dynamics model of employee's work-family conflict in the construction industry is established, and a simulation is conducted. The simulation results indicate that construction industry employees experience work interference with family conflict (WIFC) levels which are significantly greater than the family interference with work conflict (FIWC) levels. This study also revealed that improving work flexibility and organizational support can have a positive impact on the satisfaction and performance of construction industry employees from a work and family perspective. Furthermore, improving family support can only significantly improve employee job satisfaction

    The Mediating Role of Cognitive Flexibility in the Influence of Counter-Stereotypes on Creativity

    The aim of this study is to explore the relationship between counter-stereotypes and creativity, and further explore the mechanism underlying the impact of priming counter-stereotypic information on individual creativity. More importantly, here we have proposed cognitive and emotional dual processing pathways, which may mediate the influences of counter-stereotypes on creativity. Two experiments examined how counter-stereotypes impacted creativity through the dual processing pathways. A total of 152 university students were recruited to test their creativity performance. In Experiment 1, we replicated results of past studies. Participants were randomly allocated to different priming conditions (stereotype or counter-stereotype), in which descriptions of male governors and female nurses served as priming of stereotypes, whereas descriptions of male nurses and female governors served as priming of counter-stereotypes. Measurements of creativity were based on the poster paradigm. The poster paradigm required participants to design a poster for a college fellowship party. In Experiment 2, we recruited 104 participants to examine the mediating roles of emotions and cognitive flexibility. The procedure of Experiment 2 was similar to that of Experiment 1, except for the measurement of creativity, which was Chinese idiom riddle test. Participants who selected more creative answers were more creative, based on the criteria of our experimental design. Also, we included measurements of emotions (i.e., surprise and delight) and cognitive flexibility (using the Cognitive Flexibility Scale) after priming of stereotypes and counter-stereotypes in Experiment 2. We also verified the credibility of our counter-stereotype measurements. The results of Experiment 1—which replicated previous studies—demonstrated that priming of counter-stereotypes promoted creative performance compared with priming of stereotypes in the poster paradigm. However, our proposed dual processing pathways were not fully verified by Experiment 2. The results of this experiment showed that neither surprising nor delighted emotion mediated the influence of counter-stereotypes on creativity, whereas cognitive flexibility did. In conclusion, our current study reveals a mechanism of creative performance in terms of cognitive flexibility, and further inspires us to focus on the positive influence of counter-stereotypes on creativity

    Exploring the role of antecedents of product innovativeness and corporate social responsibility in extending customer citizenship behavior

    In recent times, enhancing and extending the customer base is possible when organizations increase customer citizenship behavior among their consumers. Since the customers are much aware of firms’ social and environmental contributions thus, organizations take adequate measures to improve their product innovativeness and corporate social responsibility. Hence the current study is designed to ascertain the role of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and product innovativeness in patronizing Customer Citizenship Behavior. Based on the survey research design, the current study applies structural equation modeling using Partial Least squares on the data set of 453 respondents. The results revealed that all proposed hypotheses were significant and positive. These findings imply that the service providers and manufacturers should increase transparency in the communication process through which CSR and innovativeness are effectively communicated to the customers, eventually assisting them in increasing their Customer Citizenship Behavior among customers. These results offer valuable policy insights

    Multiple Events of Allopolyploidy in the Evolution of the Racemose Lineages in Prunus (Rosaceae) Based on Integrated Evidence from Nuclear and Plastid Data.

    Prunus is an economically important genus well-known for cherries, plums, almonds, and peaches. The genus can be divided into three major groups based on inflorescence structure and ploidy levels: (1) the diploid solitary-flower group (subg. Prunus, Amygdalus and Emplectocladus); (2) the diploid corymbose group (subg. Cerasus); and (3) the polyploid racemose group (subg. Padus, subg. Laurocerasus, and the Maddenia group). The plastid phylogeny suggests three major clades within Prunus: Prunus-Amygdalus-Emplectocladus, Cerasus, and Laurocerasus-Padus-Maddenia, while nuclear ITS trees resolve Laurocerasus-Padus-Maddenia as a paraphyletic group. In this study, we employed sequences of the nuclear loci At103, ITS and s6pdh to explore the origins and evolution of the racemose group. Two copies of the At103 gene were identified in Prunus. One copy is found in Prunus species with solitary and corymbose inflorescences as well as those with racemose inflorescences, while the second copy (II) is present only in taxa with racemose inflorescences. The copy I sequences suggest that all racemose species form a paraphyletic group composed of four clades, each of which is definable by morphology and geography. The tree from the combined At103 and ITS sequences and the tree based on the single gene s6pdh had similar general topologies to the tree based on the copy I sequences of At103, with the combined At103-ITS tree showing stronger support in most clades. The nuclear At103, ITS and s6pdh data in conjunction with the plastid data are consistent with the hypothesis that multiple independent allopolyploidy events contributed to the origins of the racemose group. A widespread species or lineage may have served as the maternal parent for multiple hybridizations involving several paternal lineages. This hypothesis of the complex evolutionary history of the racemose group in Prunus reflects a major step forward in our understanding of diversification of the genus and has important implications for the interpretation of its phylogeny, evolution, and classification
