Physical Activity as a Health Need
The scientific concept of human needs has an interdisciplinary nature and is associated with the standards of living and development, health and disease status, quality of life, and life satisfaction. Research results indicate that systematic physical activity at any ontogenesis period is of vital importance for optimal development and maintenance of physical efficiency, fitness, and health. Therefore, it has been assumed that physical activity is a health need of each man. The aim of the study is to find relationships between physical activity and health needs. The analysis was intended to reveal the importance, functions, and consequences of the impact of physical activity on the psychophysical condition of man based on examples from available literature. The relationships between physical activity and health needs have been presented from the perspective of public health and promotion targeted at improvement of public health in a way to ensure the best fulfilment of conscious and unconscious needs. According to WHO, health needs are disturbances in the health status or social well-being that require intervention measures such as treatment, rehabilitation, or social assistance as well as prevention measures. Systematic moderate physical activity is one of the most important factors with a beneficial effect on human physiological processes and improves the quality of life. The National Health Programme for 2016–2020 recommends increased physical activity among children, adolescents, and the elderly
Physioprophylaxisin Physiotherapy with Emphasis on Physical Activity
Currently, physiotherapist's work is to provide health services to healthy and sick people. One of the types of these services is physioprophylaxis, i.e. prophylactic activity consisting in promotion of pro-health behaviours as well as development and maintenance of the fitness and endurance of people of all ages to prevent disability. The term 'physioprophylaxis', which has been familiar to physiotherapists only, has been known in Poland in the area of health culture for merely a few years. The authors of the study believe that there is a need to promote the knowledge about the role of physioprophylaxis in the area of health culture, education, science, and society. The role of physical activity in physioprophylaxis is emphasised as well.
It is evident that the legal regulations of the profession of physiotherapists are not reflected in appreciation of their comprehensive preventive and therapeutic competences in the health care system or in the general public awareness

Health behaviours of physical education teachers as an element of their health competence
edukacji zdrowotnej w szkole. Metodą sondażu diagnostycznego przebadano 150 nauczycieli.
Według uzyskanych wyników większość badanych ma dobre relacje rodzinne i zawodowe, dba
o własny rozwój, sprawność fizyczną i dobre samopoczucie.
dbają o urodę i zgrabną sylwetkę. Regularne udzielanie pomocy częściej wskazywały osoby z najdłuższym
oraz najkrótszym stażem pracy. Dobre relacje rodzinne najczęściej deklarowały osoby
z najdłuższym stażem pracy, a dbanie o urodę i zgrabną sylwetkę z najkrótszym stażem.The aim of the following paper is to present health behaviours of physical education teachers,
relating them to their gender and work experience, and to discuss them as significant elements
of their predispositions and competence for realization of the health education programme at
school. 150 teachers were tested with the diagnostic survey method. According to the obtained
results, the majority of respondents have good family and professional relations, care about
their development, physical fitness and good physical and mental state. Nevertheless, there
were observed some undesirable behaviours in teachers’ work, such as alcohol drinking, taking
substances, insufficient self-education or unsatisfactory help for people in need. Men drink
alcohol or use other substances significantly more often than women. Women, in turn, more
often take care about their looks and slim figures. Regular helping the needy is declared most
frequently by the persons with the longest and the shortest work experience. Those with the
longest work experience mostly declare good family relations, whereas caring for their looks
and slim figure is declared first of all by the persons with the shortest work experience

Samoocena stanu zdrowia i czynników warunkujących zdrowie słuchaczy Uniwersytetu Trzeciego Wieku przy PSW w Białej Podlaskiej
We współczesnych cywilizacjach problemy zdrowotne osób starszych nabrały
w ostatnim czasie zainteresowania naukowego. Celem badań było poznanie samooceny
stanu zdrowia badanych osób oraz czynników i zachowań warunkujących
ich zdrowie: fizyczne, psychiczne, społeczne, duchowe i seksualne. W badaniach
wzięły udział 54 osoby starsze w wieku od 60 do 76 lat, należące do
Uniwersytetu Trzeciego Wieku działającego przy Państwowej Szkole Wyższej
im. Papieża Jana Pawła II w Białej Podlaskiej. W pracy posłużono się metodą sondażu
diagnostycznego z wykorzystaniem autorskiego kwestionariusza ankiety.
a 55% to zaradni życiowo optymiści. Zachowania prospołeczne dotyczą 24% badanych,
którzy bezinteresownie pomagają innym, a 17% to udzielający wsparcia.
Satysfakcjonujące życie seksualne prowadzi 9% ogółu, a 24% od czasu do czasu.
Czynniki i zachowania antyzdrowotne tj.: nieregularne spożywanie posiłków,
czasu do czasu
Health needs satisfied by physical activity in the elderly
Materiał i metody. Badania przeprowadzono w 2016 roku wśród mieszkańców powiatu bialskiego
i okolic (północna część województwa lubelskiego). Przebadano 221 osób w wieku 60-
90 lat. Wśród badanych przeważały kobiety (65,6%) oraz mieszkańcy wsi (56,9%). W pracy
zastosowano metodę sondażu diagnostycznego z wykorzystaniem autorskiego kwestionariusza
ankiety.
Wyniki. Najliczniejsza grupa badanych seniorów wskazała, iż przez podejmowaną aktywność
fizyczną realizuje potrzeby prorodzinne (92,3%), profilaktyczne (91,9%), ruchu (89,1%) oraz
antyinwolucyjne i aktywności turystycznej (po 88,7%). Najmniej liczna grupa badanych realizuje
potrzeby aktywnej niepełnosprawności (69,2%) oraz rehabilitacyjne (77,8%).
Wnioski. Badani seniorzy, przez aktywność fizyczną, realizowali wszystkie analizowane potrzeby
zdrowotne. Najliczniejsza grupa realizowała potrzeby prorodzinne, profilaktyczne, ruchu,
antyinwolucyjne oraz aktywności turystycznej. W największym stopniu zaspokajane były
potrzeby prorodzinne, profilaktyczne oraz ruchu, natomiast w najmniejszym potrzeby aktywnej
niepełnosprawności i rekreacji ruchowej.Introduction. In the 1990s, experts stated that, with regard to the public health strategy, increasing
physical activity in society is as significant as treatment of hypertension, lipid metabolism
disorders or battles against tobacco addiction (Drygas, Jagier, 2003). The purpose of the
paper was to present types of health needs of the elderly, which are met by undertaking physical
activity, with further consideration of the degree of its implementation.
Material and method. The research was conducted in 2016 among the residents of Biała Podlaska
district and the surrounding area (northern part of the Lublin Province). Altogether, 221
persons aged 60-90 were examined. The majority of the respondents were women (65.6%) and
rural residents (56.9%). The paper applies the method of the diagnostic survey with the use of
the author’s own survey questionnaire.
Results. The most numerous group of the surveyed seniors indicated that the undertaken PA
satisfies the following needs: family-related (92.3%), prophylactic (91.9%), movement (89.1%),
as well as anti-involutionary and tourism-related (both 88.7%). The fewest indications were
given to the need of becoming active in case of disability (69.2%) and rehabilitation (77.8%).
Conclusions. Physical activity helped the surveyed seniors to satisfy all of the analysed health
needs. The respondents would mainly point to family-related needs, preventive ones, movement,
anti-involutionary as well as tourist and activity-related ones. The needs that seemed
most fulfilled were family-related, prophylactic and those concerning movement while preventing
active disability and physical recreation were met the least
Aksjologiczne wsparcie kompetencji zawodowych promotora zdrowia przez nauczanie Jana Pawła II na temat istoty zdrowia duchowego człowieka / Axiological support for the professional competences of the health promoter by the teachings of John Paul II about the essence of human spiritual health
Celem pracy było ukazanie fundamentalnej wartości i potrzeby obecności duchowego wymiaru zdrowia człowieka w kompetencjach poznawczych i praktycznych promotora zdrowia z uwzględnieniem nauczania Jana Pawła II ukazującego aksjologiczny wymiar sfery duchowej osoby. Należy podkreślić, że brak duchowego wymiaru w złożoności i integralności działań na rzecz zdrowia człowieka posiada znamiona redukcjonizmu zamiast spójnego scalania. Standardy edukacyjne ukazane w działaniach podjętych w Polsce, Europie i skali globalnej dla po-prawy jakości kształcenia kadr promocji zdrowia nie wymagają kształcenia kompetencji zawodowych ukazujących i wyjaśniających transcendentny wymiar zdrowia, który dzięki sumieniu, mocą Ducha Świętego przenika wszystkie sfery zdrowia minimalizując błędne działania człowieka. Potrzebna jest samodzielna mobilizacja promotora zdrowia do pozyskania prawdziwych i wartościowych zasobów mądrości z nauczania Jana Pawła II ukazującego szacunek należny godności osoby i wartość zdrowia duchowego w dobru, jakim jest zdrowie. The aim of the article was to show the fundamental value and need for the presence of the spiritual dimension of human health in the cognitive and practical competences of the health promoter, including the teaching of John Paul II showing the axiological dimension of the spiritual sphere of a person. It should be emphasized that the lack of a spiritual dimension in the complexity and integrity of actions for human health has the features of reductionism instead of coherent merging.Educational standards shown in actions taken in Poland, Europe and on a global scale to improve the quality of education of health promotion personnel do not require the education of professional competences showing and explaining the transcendent dimension of health, which thanks to conscience, through the power of the Holy Spirit penetrates all health spheres minimizing erroneous human activities
