Genre Peculiarities of H. L. Oldie's "Sherlock Holmes vs. Martians": between Mashup and Crossover
As mass culture becomes an important part of the contemporary literary process, one cannot ignore it. New forms and genres of mass literature and culture could often be regarded as reaction to the changes in the social and public life. The most striking examples of those genres are mashup and crossover fiction, which are based on the multiple references to already existing texts. Mashup literature is a combination of classic text with a dominant storyline and new plot details added by modern authors. Crossover (according to Jenkins) relies on pre-existing texts, "breaking down not only the boundaries between texts but also those between genres, suggesting how familiar characters might function in radically different environments". An example of the combination of mashup and crossover is the novel by Russian-speaking Ukrainian writers Henry Lyon Oldy "Sherlock Holmes vs. the Martians" (2014).
Literature and cinema: Ways of interaction in the 21st century
© 2019, Association for Social Studies Educa. All rights reserved. The research is based on the analysis of interaction of different forms of art: cinema and literature. Cinema is in very close connection with literature since the moment of emergence. In spite of this various discussions about the literature and cinema’s interaction continue. There is no consensus about the status of film adaptation, its fidelity approach or the influence of film to the text reception. It is possible to speak about the variety of types of relationship existing today between cinema and literature. For a long time, it was considered that cinema plays a secondary role in comparison with literature. The only possible algorithm of interaction between these types of arts is "literary work-scenario-screen version". However, there is a strong tendency towards the impact of cinema on setting new trends in literature. Along with the traditional “literary work – scenario – screen version” algorithm we also consider "literary work – scenario – screen version – literary work" (when details which appeared in the screen version influence the following parts of a literary work) or "scenario – movie – literary work" (when a literary work is created on the basis of the original scenario or the movie). Today writers and directors look for new ways of transferring of one art form’s peculiarities into another. As a result, we can speak about the existing interdependence between them

Language Policy Dilemmas in Modern Russia
Political dilemmas arising in a multi-ethnic state in the priorities of language policy context are always acute political issues. The difficulty of balancing the language policy is at the heart of the conflict of interests of different ethnic groups. Frequently, their interests are directly opposed, and the interests of the elites run counter to the interests of the ethnic groups, which creates a set of intractable dilemmas. The authors believe that we face a set of such dilemmas in modern Russia. Throughout the 20th century, the political leaders and elites of the Russian Empire, the USSR, and then the Russian Federation followed diametrically different approaches to the issue of languages. Recent years have witnessed purposeful activity of the Russian Federal center to develop a certain unified concept of language policy to form a common civil identity. However, the measures taken by the Federal center - in particular, the transition to the optional study of regional languages at school - meet with certain resistance from the regional ethnic and national elites for whom they become matters of principle. Regional elites would resist erosion of regional identities, which occurs also through the mechanisms of language policy. Another factor in this political process is associated with the ratio of ethnic groups with certain interests in different regions of Russia (we can often observe the following situation: ethnic majority and Russian minorit.В статье рассматривается специфика языковой ситуации, особенности функционирования и взаимодействия языков в многонациональной Республике Татарстан
