Sentiment Analysis for Troll Activity Detection on Sina Weibo

    Get PDF
The impact of social media on the modern world is difficult to overstate. Virtually all companies and public figures have social media accounts on popular platforms such as Twitter and Facebook. In China, the micro-blogging service provider Sina Weibo is the most popular such service. To overcome negative publicity, Weibo trolls the so called Water Army can be hired to post deceptive comments. In recent years, troll detection and sentiment analysis have been studied, but we are not aware of any research that considers troll detection based on sentiment analysis. In this research, we focus on troll detection via sentiment analysis with other user activity data gathered on the Sina Weibo platform, where the content is mainly in Chinese. We implement techniques for Chinese sentence segmentation, word embeddings, and sentiment score calculations. We employ the resulting techniques to develop and test a sentiment analysis approach for troll detection, based on a variety of machine learning strategies. Experimental results are generated, analyzed and the troll detection model we proposed achieved 89% accuracy for the dataset presented in this research. A Chrome extension is presented that implements our proposed technique, which enables real-time troll detection and troll comments filtering when a user browses Sina Weibo tweets and comments

Risk Assessment of Local Government Debt: Evidence from China

The risk of local government debt has been a robust indicator of regional economic development and the smooth operation of local government. The promulgation and implementation of the new Budget Law in 2014 also reflect the determination of China to control government debt risk. Based on the DPSIR model, this paper defines the logical relationship among the driving force, pressure, debt status, influence, debt repayment ability, and local government debt risk. Combined with the entropy method, this paper analyzes the debt risk level of 30 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions in China from 2013 to 2019. The results show that there are apparent regional differences in the debt risk of local governments in China. The debt risk evaluation of the southwest region is higher than the average level in other regions. Overall, we show a downward and upward trend through further analysis of the internal structure and causes of local government debt risk. We offer implications for countermeasures and suggestions

Fast Color-guided Depth Denoising for RGB-D Images by Graph Filtering

Depth images captured by off-the-shelf RGB-D cameras suffer from much stronger noise than color images. In this paper, we propose a method to denoise the depth images in RGB-D images by color-guided graph filtering. Our iterative method contains two components: color-guided similarity graph construction, and graph filtering on the depth signal. Implemented in graph vertex domain, filtering is accelerated as computation only occurs among neighboring vertices. Experimental results show that our method outperforms state-of-art depth image denoising methods significantly both on quality and efficiency.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure

Effects of electroacupuncture on the correlation between serum and central immunity in AD model animals

Objective. The goal was to investigate the connection between neuroinflammation in the brain and serum inflammatory markers as Alzheimer's disease progressed. We also sought to determine whether electroacupuncture had an effect on inflammatory markers found in blood and other brain regions. Methods. As an animal model for AD, we used senescence-accelerated mouse prone 8 (SAMP8) mice. To examine the effects and probable mechanism of electroacupuncture, we used HE staining, immunofluorescence staining, western blotting, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results. Electroacupuncture therapy protected neurons, significantly downregulated the Iba-1 level in the hippocampus (p value was 0.003), frontal lobe cortex (p value was 0.042), and temporal lobe cortex (p value was 0.013) of the AD animal model, all of which had significantly lower levels of IL-6 (p value was 0.001), IL-1β (p value was 0.001), and TNF-α (p value was 0.001) in their serum. Conclusion. The amounts of IL-6, IL-1β, and TNF-α detected in the serum were strongly linked to the levels discovered in the hippocampus and the frontal lobes of the brain, respectively. A better understanding of the electroacupuncture process as well as the course of Alzheimer's disease and the therapeutic benefits of electroacupuncture may be gained by using biomarkers such as serum inflammatory marker biomarkers
