E-Courant algebroids
In this paper, we introduce the notion of -Courant algebroids, where
is a vector bundle. It is a kind of generalized Courant algebroid and contains
Courant algebroids, Courant-Jacobi algebroids and omni-Lie algebroids as its
special cases. We explore novel phenomena exhibited by -Courant algebroids
and provide many examples. We study the automorphism groups of omni-Lie
algebroids and classify the isomorphism classes of exact -Courant
algebroids. In addition, we introduce the concepts of -Lie bialgebroids and
Manin triples.Comment: 29 pages, no figur
Dirac structures of omni-Lie algebroids
Omni-Lie algebroids are generalizations of Alan Weinstein's omni-Lie
algebras. A Dirac structure in an omni-Lie algebroid \dev E\oplus \jet E is
necessarily a Lie algebroid together with a representation on . We study the
geometry underlying these Dirac structures in the light of reduction theory. In
particular, we prove that there is a one-to-one correspondence between
reducible Dirac structures and projective Lie algebroids in \huaT=TM\oplus E;
we establish the relation between the normalizer of a reducible Dirac
structure and the derivation algebra \Der(\pomnib (L)) of the projective
Lie algebroid \pomnib (L); we study the cohomology group
and the relation between and
; we describe Lie bialgebroids using the adjoint
representation; we study the deformation of a Dirac structure , which is

Whither the roads lead to? estimating association between urbanization and primary healthcare service use with Chinese prefecture-level data in 2014
With the rapid economic development across China over recent decades, examining how urbanization may affect healthcare service use and its implications is more than urgent. This study estimates the association between urbanization and primary healthcare services use in China. We construct a prefecture-level dataset on healthcare services utilization and urbanization. We regress the proportion of residents using healthcare services in primary healthcare centers versus secondary or tertiary hospitals on a set of prefecture-level control variables. Results suggest that use of primary healthcare centers outpatient service is positively associated with being in the proximity of a provincial capital, but negatively correlated with the percentage of the urban population and the availability of public transportation. Higher likelihood of seeking care in major hospitals instead of primary healthcare centers is associated with urbanization, justifying a need for primary care physicians as gatekeepers in China’s healthcare delivery system
Divergent and Stereoselective Synthesis of β-Silyl-α-Amino Acids through Palladium-Catalyzed Intermolecular Silylation of Unactivated Primary and Secondary C−H Bonds
A general and practical Pd^(II)-catalyzed intermolecular silylation of primary and secondary C−H bonds of α-amino acids and simple aliphatic acids is reported. This method provides divergent and stereoselective access to a variety of optical pure β-silyl-α-amino acids, which are useful for genetic technologies and proteomics. It can also be readily performed on a gram scale and the auxiliary can be easily removed with retention of configuration. The synthetic importance of this method is further demonstrated by the late-stage functionalization of biological small molecules, such as (−)-santonin and β-cholic acid. Moreover, several key palladacycles were successfully isolated and characterized to elucidate the mechanism of this β−C(sp^3)-H silylation process
Antiarrhythmic and proarrhythmic effects of subcutaneous nerve stimulation in ambulatory dogs
Background
High output subcutaneous nerve stimulation (ScNS) remodels the stellate ganglia and suppresses cardiac arrhythmia.
Objective
To test the hypothesis that long duration low output ScNS causes cardiac nerve sprouting, increases plasma norepinephrine concentration and the durations of paroxysmal atrial tachycardia (PAT) in ambulatory dogs.
Methods
We prospectively randomized 22 dogs (11 males and 11 females) into 5 different output groups for 2 months of ScNS: 0 mA (sham) (N=6), 0.25 mA (N=4), 1.5 mA (N=4), 2.5 mA (N=4) and 3.5 mA (N=4).
Results
As compared with baseline, the changes of the durations of PAT episodes per 48 hours were significantly different among different groups (sham, -5.0±9.5 s; 0.25 mA 95.5±71.0 s; 1.5 mA, -99.3±39.6 s; 2.5 mA, -155.3±87.8 s and 3.5 mA, -76.3±44.8 s, p<0.001). The 3.5 mA group had greater reduction of sinus heart rate than the sham group (-29.8±15.0 bpm vs -14.5±3.0 bpm, p=0.038). Immunohistochemical studies showed that the 0.25 mA group had a significantly increased while 2.5 mA and 3.5 mA stimulation had a significantly reduced growth-associated protein 43 nerve densities in both atria and ventricles. The plasma Norepinephrine concentrations in 0.25 mA group was 5063.0±4366.0 pg/ml, which was significantly higher than other groups of dogs (739.3±946.3, p=0.009). There were no significant differences in the effects of simulation between males and females.
Conclusions
In ambulatory dogs, low output ScNS causes cardiac nerve sprouting, increases plasma norepinephrine concentration and the duration of PAT episodes while high output ScNS is antiarrhythmic
A Quantization-Friendly Separable Convolution for MobileNets
As deep learning (DL) is being rapidly pushed to edge computing, researchers
invented various ways to make inference computation more efficient on
mobile/IoT devices, such as network pruning, parameter compression, and etc.
Quantization, as one of the key approaches, can effectively offload GPU, and
make it possible to deploy DL on fixed-point pipeline. Unfortunately, not all
existing networks design are friendly to quantization. For example, the popular
lightweight MobileNetV1, while it successfully reduces parameter size and
computation latency with separable convolution, our experiment shows its
quantized models have large accuracy gap against its float point models. To
resolve this, we analyzed the root cause of quantization loss and proposed a
quantization-friendly separable convolution architecture. By evaluating the
image classification task on ImageNet2012 dataset, our modified MobileNetV1
model can archive 8-bit inference top-1 accuracy in 68.03%, almost closed the
gap to the float pipeline.Comment: Accepted At THE 1ST WORKSHOP ON ENERGY EFFICIENT MACHINE LEARNING AND

Sex‐specific activation of SK current by isoproterenol facilitates action potential triangulation and arrhythmogenesis in rabbit ventricles
Sex has a large influence on cardiac electrophysiological properties. Whether sex differences exist in apamin‐sensitive small conductance Ca2+‐activated K+ (SK) current (IKAS) remains unknown. We performed optical mapping, transmembrane potential, patch clamp, western blot and immunostaining in 62 normal rabbit ventricles, including 32 females and 30 males. IKAS blockade by apamin only minimally prolonged action potential (AP) duration (APD) in the basal condition for both sexes, but significantly prolonged APD in the presence of isoproterenol in females. Apamin prolonged APD at the level of 25% repolarization (APD25) more prominently than APD at the level of 80% repolarization (APD80), consequently reversing isoproterenol‐induced AP triangulation in females. In comparison, apamin prolonged APD to a significantly lesser extent in males and failed to restore the AP plateau during isoproterenol infusion. IKAS in males did not respond to the L‐type calcium current agonist BayK8644, but was amplified by the casein kinase 2 (CK2) inhibitor 4,5,6,7‐tetrabromobenzotriazole. In addition, whole‐cell outward IKAS densities in ventricular cardiomyocytes were significantly larger in females than in males. SK channel subtype 2 (SK2) protein expression was higher and the CK2/SK2 ratio was lower in females than in males. IKAS activation in females induced negative intracellular Ca2+–voltage coupling, promoted electromechanically discordant phase 2 repolarization alternans and facilitated ventricular fibrillation (VF). Apamin eliminated the negative Ca2+–voltage coupling, attenuated alternans and reduced VF inducibility, phase singularities and dominant frequencies in females, but not in males. We conclude that β‐adrenergic stimulation activates ventricular IKAS in females to a much greater extent than in males. IKAS activation plays an important role in ventricular arrhythmogenesis in females during sympathetic stimulation
Polymorphisms of the _ENPP1_ gene are not associated with type 2 diabetes or obesity in the Chinese Han population
*Objective:* Type 2 Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder characterized by chronic hyperglycemia and with a major feature of insulin resistance. Genetic association studies have suggested that _ENPP1_ might play a potential role in susceptibility to type 2 diabetes and obesity. Our study aimed to examine the association between _ENPP1_ and type 2 diabetes and obesity.

*Design:* Association study between two SNPs, rs1044498 (K121Q) and rs7754561 of ENPP1 and diabetes and obesity in the Chinese Han population.

*Subjects:* 1912 unrelated patients (785 male and 1127 female with a mean age 63.8 ± 9 years), 236 IFG/IGT subjects (83 male and 153 female with a mean age 64 ± 9 years) and 2041 controls (635 male and 1406 female with a mean age 58 ± 9 years).

*Measurements:* Subjects were genotyped for two SNPs using TaqMan technology on an ABI7900 system and tested by regression analysis.

*Results:* By logistic regression analysis, rs1044498 (K121Q) and rs7754561 showed no statistical association with type 2 diabetes, obesity under additive, dominant and recessive models either before or after adjusting for sex and age. Haplotype analysis found a marginal association of haplotype C-G (p=0.05) which was reported in the previous study.

*Conclusion:* Our investigation did not replicated the positive association found previously and suggested that the polymorphisms of _ENPP1_ might not play a major role in the susceptibility to type 2 diabetes or obesity in the Chinese Han population
