Search for a circum-planetary material and orbital period variations of short-period Kepler exoplanet candidates
A unique short-period Mercury-size Kepler exoplanet candidate KIC012557548b
has been discovered recently by Rappaport et al. (2012). This object is a
transiting disintegrating exoplanet with a circum-planetary material -
comet-like tail. Close-in exoplanets, like KIC012557548b, are subjected to the
greatest planet-star interactions. This interaction may have various forms. In
certain cases it may cause formation of the comet-like tail. Strong interaction
with the host star, and/or presence of an additional planet may lead to
variations in the orbital period of the planet. Our main aim is to search for
comet-like tails similar to KIC012557548b and for long-term orbital period
variations. We are curious about frequency of comet-like tail formation among
short-period Kepler exoplanet candidates. We concentrate on a sample of 20
close-in candidates with a period similar to KIC012557548b from the Kepler
mission.Comment: 19 pages, 75 figures, AN accepte
Determination of organic acids evolution during apple cider fermentation using an improved HPLC analysis method
An efficient method for analyzing ten organic acids in food, namely citric, pyruvic, malic, lactic, succinic, formic, acetic, adipic, propionic and butyric acids, using HPLC was developed. Boric acid was added into the mobile phase to separate lactic and succinic acids, and a post-column buffer solution [5 mmol/L p-toluensulfonic acid (p-TSA) + 20 mmol/L bis (2-hydroxyethyl) iminotris (hydroxymethyl) methane (bisÂżtris) + 100 Âżmol/L sodium ethylenediaminetetraacetic (EDTA-2Na)] was used to improve the sensitivity of detection. The average spiked recoveries for the ten organic acids ranged from 82.9 to 127.9% with relative standard deviations of 1.44Âż4.71%. The linear ranges of determination were from 15 to 1,000 mg/L with correlation coefficients of 0.9995Âż0.9999. The metabolism of organic acids in cider, and the effect of nutrients including diammonium phosphate (DAP), thiamine, biotin, niacinamide and pantothenic acid on their metabolism, were studied using this method of analysis. We found that before cider brewing, additions of 200 mg/L DAP and 0.3 mg/L thiamine to apple juice concentrate results in a high quality cider
Charmless decays B->pipi, piK and KK in broken SU(3)symmetry
Charmless B decay modes and aresystematically
investigated with and without flavor SU(3) symmetry. Independent analyses on
and modes both favor a large ratio between color-suppressed
tree () and tree ( diagram, which suggests that they are more likely to
originate from long distance effects. The sizes of QCD penguin diagrams
extracted individually from , and modes are found to
follow a pattern of SU(3) breaking in agreement with the naive factorization
estimates. Global fits to these modes are done under various scenarios of
SU(3)relations. The results show good determinations of weak phase in
consistency with the Standard Model (SM), but a large electro-weak penguin
(P_{\tmop{EW}}) relative to with a large relative strong phase are
favored, which requires an big enhancement of color suppressed electro-weak
penguin (P_{\tmop{EW}}^C) compatible in size but destructively interfering
with P_{\tmop{EW}} within the SM, or implies new physics. Possibility of
sizable contributions from nonfactorizable diagrams such as -exchange (),
annihilation() and penguin-annihilation diagrams() are investigated.
The implications to the branching ratios and CP violations in modes are
discussed.Comment: 27 pages, 9 figures, reference added, to appear in Phy.Rev.
Finite-dimensional integrable systems associated with Davey-Stewartson I equation
For the Davey-Stewartson I equation, which is an integrable equation in 1+2
dimensions, we have already found its Lax pair in 1+1 dimensional form by
nonlinear constraints. This paper deals with the second nonlinearization of
this 1+1 dimensional system to get three 1+0 dimensional Hamiltonian systems
with a constraint of Neumann type. The full set of involutive conserved
integrals is obtained and their functional independence is proved. Therefore,
the Hamiltonian systems are completely integrable in Liouville sense. A
periodic solution of the Davey-Stewartson I equation is obtained by solving
these classical Hamiltonian systems as an example.Comment: 18 pages, LaTe
Anatomy of molecular structures in Ne
We present a beyond mean-field study of clusters and molecular structures in
low-spin states of Ne with a multireference relativistic energy density
functional, where the dynamical correlation effects of symmetry restoration and
quadrupole-octupole shapes fluctuation are taken into account with projections
on parity, particle number and angular momentum in the framework of the
generator coordinate method. Both the energy spectrum and the electric
multipole transition strengths for low-lying parity-doublet bands are better
reproduced after taking into account the dynamical octupole vibration effect.
Consistent with the finding in previous studies, a rotation-induced dissolution
of the O molecular structure in Ne is predicted.Comment: 6 pages with 6 figures, version to be published in Phys. Lett.
