An optimization-based "phase field" model for polycrystalline ferroelectrics

    Get PDF
An optimization-based computational model is proposed to study domain evolution in polycrystalline ferroelectrics composed of numerous grains, each of which consists of multiple domains. Domain switching is realized by an optimization process to minimize the free energy of each grain. Similar to phase field modeling, no priori domain-switching criterion is imposed in the proposed model. Moreover, by focusing on the volume fractions of domains only, the computational complexity of this model becomes much smaller and the domain textures evolution can be captured. Simulation results on both tetragonal and rhombohedral lead titanate zirconate ceramics illustrate the efficiency of this model. © 2010 American Institute of Physics.published_or_final_versio

Allelopathy of root exudates from different resistant eggplants to Verticillium dahliae and the identification of allelochemicals

    Get PDF
Three eggplant cultivars were inoculated with Verticillium dahliae Kleb. to assess their resistance to Verticillium wilt. Solanum tor was resistant, “Liyuanziqie” was tolerant, and “Xi’anlvqie” susceptible. The disease incidence and disease index of Verticillium wilt and the amount of V. dahliae in rhizospheric soil, variation of microbial composition, the allelopathy of root exudates to mycelium growth of V. dahliae and the chemical substances of root exudates from eggplant cultivars with different resistance to Verticillium wilt were investigated in this experiment. The results showed that the root exudates of resistant type could not only affect the growth and development of V. dahliae, but also influence V. dahliae indirectly through regulating soil microbial community composition. This may be one of the reasons for the increase of disease resistance. However, the susceptible type exhibited an opposite trend. It was inferred that the resistant type contained some particular components, such as  acohd, amide, pyranoid, fluorene, while the susceptible one comprised more types of components, that is, ketone, phenol, ester and phenolic acid.Key words: Allelopathy, allelochemical, root exudates, eggplant, Verticillium dahliae, Verticillium wilt, microbial composition

Estimating soil salinity in different landscapes of the Yellow River Delta through Landsat OLI/TIRS and ETM plus Data

    Get PDF
Soil salinization has increasingly become a serious issue in coastal zone due to global climate changes and human disturbances. Assessment of soil salinity, especially at the landscape scale, is critical to coastal management and restoration. Two data from OLI/TIRS and ETM+ sensors of Landsat satellite were used to compare their ability to invert the spatial pattern of soil salinity in both farmland and salt marsh landscapes in the Yellow River Delta, China, respectively. The results showed that the in situ electrical conductivity (EC (a) ) of soil, representing soil salinity, were closely related with spectral parameters and salinity indices calculated by the remote sensing data. The results of multiple regression models have showed that nearly all the spectral parameters and salinity indices calculated by OLI/TRIS data were more sensitive to soil salinity than those by ETM+ data. Therefore, the models based on OLI/TIRS data are superior to those on ETM+ data in estimating the spatial pattern of soil salinity in farmland and salt marsh landscapes. Our results were very helpful to evaluate the levels of soil salinization in the Yellow River Delta

Association of Mineralocorticoid Receptor Antagonists With the Mortality and Cardiovascular Effects in Dialysis Patients: A Meta-analysis

    Get PDF
Whether Mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists (MRA) reduce mortality and cardiovascular effects of dialysis patients remains unclear. A meta-analysis was designed to investigate whether MRA reduce mortality and cardiovascular effects of dialysis patients, with a registration in INPLASY (INPLASY2020120143). The meta-analysis revealed that MRA significantly reduced all-cause mortality (ACM) and cardiovascular mortality (CVM). Patients receiving MRA presented improved left ventricular mass index (LVMI) and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), decreased systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP). There was no significant difference in the serum potassium level between the MRA group and the placebo group. MRA vs. control exerts definite survival and cardiovascular benefits in dialysis patients, including reducing all-cause mortality and cardiovascular mortality, LVMI, and arterial blood pressure, and improving LVEF. In terms of safety, MRA did not increase serum potassium levels for dialysis patients with safety. Synthesis and electromagnetic wave absorption property of amorphous carbon nanotube networks on a 3D graphene aerogel/BaFe12O19 nanocomposite

    Get PDF
Homogeneous amorphous carbon nanotube (ACNT) networks have been synthesized using floating catalyst chemical vapor deposition method on a 3D graphene aerogel (GA)/ BaFe12O19 (BF) nanocomposite which was prepared by a self-propagating combustion process. The as-synthesized ACNT/GA/BF nanocomposite with 3D network structures could be directly used as a good absorber material for electromagnetic wave absorption. The experimental results indicated that the minimum reflection loss of ACNT/GA/BF composite with a thickness of 2 mm was -18.35 dB at 10.64 GHz in the frequency range of 2-18 GHz. The frequency bandwidth of the reflection loss below -10 dB was 3.32 GHz and below -5 dB was 6.24 GHz, respectively. The 3D graphene aerogel structures which composed of dense interlined tubes and amorphous structure bearing quantities of dihedral angles could consume the incident waves through multiple reflection and scattering inside the 3D web structures. The interlinked ACNTs have both the virtues of amorphous CNTs (multiple reflection inside the wall) and crystalline CNTs (high conductivity), consuming the electromagnetic wave as resistance heat. ACNT/GA/BF composite has a good electromagnetic wave absorption performance.Institute of Textiles and Clothing2016-2017 > Academic research: refereed > Publication in refereed journalbcr
