BackgroundExercise intervention is a method of improving and preventing frailty in old age through physical exercise and physical activity. It has a positive impact on many chronic diseases and health risk factors, in particular cardiovascular disease, metabolic disease, osteoporosis, mental health problems and cancer prevention, and exercise therapies can also fight inflammation, increase muscle strength and flexibility, improve immune function, and enhance overall health. This study was aimed to analyze research hotspots and frontiers in exercise therapies for frailty through bibliometric methods.MethodsIn this study, data of publications from 1st January 2003 to 31st August 2023 were gathered from the Web of Science Core Collection and analyzed the hotspots and frontiers of frailty research in terms of remarkable countries/regions, institutions, cited references, authors, cited journals, burst keywords, and high-frequency keywords using CiteSpace 6.2.R3 software. The PRISMA reporting guidelines were used for this study.ResultsA collection of 7,093 publications was obtained, showing an increasing trend each year. BMC Geriatrics led in publications, while Journals of Gerontology Series A-Biological Sciences and Medical Sciences dominated in citations. The high-temperature non-equilibrium effect is a novel and significant issue in the flows over a high Mach number (above Mach 8) air-breathing vehicle. Thus, this study attempts to inves-tigate the high-temperature non-equilibrium flows of a curved compression two-dimensional scram -jet inlet at Mach 8 to 12 utilizing the two-dimensional non-equilibrium RANS calculations. Notably, the thermochemical non-equilibrium gas model can predict the actual high-temperature flows, and the numerical results of the other four thermochemical gas models are only used for com-parative analysis. Firstly, the thermochemical non-equilibrium flow fields and work performance of the inlet at Mach 8 to 12 are analyzed. Then, the influences of high-temperature non-equilibrium effects on the starting characteristics of the inlet are investigated. The results reveal that a large sep-aration bubble caused by the cowl shock/lower wall boundary layer interaction appears upstream of the shoulder, at Mach 8. The separation zone size is smaller, and its location is closer to the down-stream area while the thermal process changes from frozen to non-equilibrium and then to equilib-rium. With the increase of inflow Mach number, the thermochemical non-equilibrium effects in the whole inlet flow field gradually strengthen, so their influences on the overall work performance of the high Mach number inlet are more obvious. The vibrational relaxation or thermal non -equilibrium effects can yield more visible influences on the inlet performance than the chemical non-equilibrium reactions. The inlet in the thermochemical non-equilibrium flow can restart more easily than that in the thermochemical frozen flow. This work should provide a basis for the design and starting ability prediction of the high Mach number inlet in the wide operation range. GROUND FAULT DIAGNOSTICS FOR AUTOMOTIVE ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNITS

    Get PDF
An electronic control unit (ECU) with a floating ground is not able to receive or transmit messages or participate in controller area network (CAN) communication. The absence of any ECU, either temporarily or permanently, negatively impacts vehicle functionalities. The offset ground, which by itself won’t affect bus functionalities if the grounding resistance is small, however, may evolve into a floating ground or behave similarly if the resistance is large. In this work, the correlation among ground faults, either offset or floating, and CAN bus voltage or messages are analyzed based on the equivalent circuit models and the bus protocol. A voltage-based solution to detect ground faults is proposed. With the help of bus messages, both faults can be isolated at the ECU level. Considering the inherent system delay between the message fetching and voltage measurement, a normalized voltage-message correlation approach with the bus load estimation is developed as well. All proposed approaches are implemented to an Arduino-based embedded system and validated on a vehicle frame

Near-infrared photoactivatable control of Ca signaling and optogenetic immunomodulation

The application of current channelrhodopsin-based optogenetic tools is limited by the lack of strict ion selectivity and the inability to extend the spectra sensitivity into the near-infrared (NIR) tissue transmissible range. Here we present an NIR-stimulable optogenetic platform (termed Opto-CRAC ) that selectively and remotely controls Ca2+ oscillations and Ca2+-responsive gene expression to regulate the function of non-excitable cells, including T lymphocytes, macrophages and dendritic cells. When coupled to upconversion nanoparticles, the optogenetic operation window is shifted from the visible range to NIR wavelengths to enable wireless photoactivation of Ca2+-dependent signaling and optogenetic modulation of immunoinflammatory responses. In a mouse model of melanoma by using ovalbumin as surrogate tumor antigen, Opto-CRAC has been shown to act as a genetically-encoded photoactivatable adjuvant to improve antigen-specific immune responses to specifically destruct tumor cells. Our study represents a solid step forward towards the goal of achieving remote control of Ca2+-modulated activities with tailored function

Throwing light upon the structure-property relationship of the excited state properties for next-generation fluorescent materials is crucial for the organic light emitting diode (OLED) field. Herein, we designed and synthesized three donor-acceptor (D-A) structure compounds based on a strong spin orbit coupling (SOC) acceptor benzo[a, c]phenazine (DPPZ) to research on the three typical types of excited states, namely, the locally-excited (LE) dominated excited state (CZP-DPPZ), the hybridized local and charge-transfer (HLCT) state (TPA-DPPZ), and the charge-transfer (CT) dominated state with TADF characteristics (PXZ-DPPZ). A theoretical combined experimental research was adopted for the excited state properties and their regulation methods of the three compounds. Benefiting from the HLCT character, TPA-DPPZ achieves the best non-doped device performance with maximum brightness of 61,951 cd m−2 and maximum external quantum efficiency of 3.42%, with both high photoluminescence quantum efficiency of 40.2% and high exciton utilization of 42.8%. Additionally, for the doped OLED, PXZ-DPPZ can achieve a max EQE of 9.35%, due to a suppressed triplet quenching and an enhanced SOC

The Elongator Complex Interacts with PCNA and Modulates Transcriptional Silencing and Sensitivity to DNA Damage Agents

Histone chaperones CAF-1 and Asf1 function to deposit newly synthesized histones onto replicating DNA to promote nucleosome formation in a proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) dependent process. The DNA replication- or DNA repair-coupled nucleosome assembly pathways are important for maintenance of transcriptional gene silencing and genome stability. However, how these pathways are regulated is not well understood. Here we report an interaction between the Elongator histone acetyltransferase and the proliferating cell nuclear antigen. Cells lacking Elp3 (K-acetyltransferase Kat9), the catalytic subunit of the six-subunit Elongator complex, partially lose silencing of reporter genes at the chromosome VIIL telomere and at the HMR locus, and are sensitive to the DNA replication inhibitor hydroxyurea (HU) and the damaging agent methyl methanesulfonate (MMS). Like deletion of the ELP3, mutation of each of the four other subunits of the Elongator complex as well as mutations in Elp3 that compromise the formation of the Elongator complex also result in loss of silencing and increased HU sensitivity. Moreover, Elp3 is required for S-phase progression in the presence of HU. Epistasis analysis indicates that the elp3Δ mutant, which itself is sensitive to MMS, exacerbates the MMS sensitivity of cells lacking histone chaperones Asf1, CAF-1 and the H3 lysine 56 acetyltransferase Rtt109. The elp3Δ mutant has allele specific genetic interactions with mutations in POL30 that encodes PCNA and PCNA binds to the Elongator complex both in vivo and in vitro. Together, these results uncover a novel role for the intact Elongator complex in transcriptional silencing and maintenance of genome stability, and it does so in a pathway linked to the DNA replication and DNA repair protein PCNA

Classifying early and late mild cognitive impairment stages of Alzheimer’s disease by fusing default mode networks extracted with multiple seeds

Abstract Background The default mode network (DMN) in resting state has been increasingly used in disease diagnosis since it was found in 2001. Prior work has mainly focused on extracting a single DMN with various techniques. However, by using seeding-based analysis with more than one desirable seed, we can obtain multiple DMNs, which are likely to have complementary information, and thus are more promising for disease diagnosis. In the study, we used 18 early mild cognitive impairment (EMCI) participants and 18 late mild cognitive impairment (LMCI) participants of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). First, we used seeding-based analysis with four seeds to extract four DMNs for each subject. Then, we conducted fusion analysis for all different combinations of the four DMNs. Finally, we carried out nonlinear support vector machine classification based on the mixing coefficients from the fusion analysis. Results We found that (1) the four DMNs corresponding to the four different seeds indeed capture different functional regions of each subject; (2) Maps of the four DMNs in the most different joint source from fusion analysis are centered at the regions of the corresponding seeds; (3) Classification results reveal the effectiveness of using multiple seeds to extract DMNs. When using a single seed, the regions of posterior cingulate cortex (PCC) extractions of EMCI and LMCI show the largest difference. For multiple-seed cases, the regions of PCC extraction and right lateral parietal cortex (RLP) extraction provide complementary information for each other in fusion, which improves the classification accuracy. Furthermore, the regions of left lateral parietal cortex (LLP) extraction and RLP extraction also have complementary effect in fusion. In summary, AD diagnosis can be improved by exploiting complementary information of DMNs extracted with multiple seeds. Conclusions In this study, we applied fusion analysis to the DMNs extracted by using different seeds for exploiting the complementary information hidden among the separately extracted DMNs, and the results supported our expectation that using the complementary information can improve classification accuracy

Weight prioritized slicing based on constraint logic programming for fault localization.

Fault localization, a technique to fix and ensure the dependability of software, is rapidly becoming infeasible due to the increasing scale and complexity of multilingual programs. Compared to other fault localization techniques, slicing can directly narrow the range of the code which needed checking by abstracting a program into a reduced one by deleting irrelevant parts. Only minority slicing methods take into account the fact that the probability of different statements leading to failure is different. Moreover, no existing prioritized slicing techniques can work on multilingual programs. In this paper, we propose a new technique called weight prioritized slicing(WP-Slicing), an improved static slicing technique based on constraint logic programming, to help the programmer locate the fault quickly and precisely. WP-Slicing first converts the original program into logic facts. Then it extracts dependences from the facts, computes the static backward slice and calculates the statements' weight. Finally, WP-Slicing provides the slice in a suggested check sequence by weighted-sorting. By comparing it's slice time and locate effort with three pre-exsiting slicing techniques on five real world C projects, we prove that WP-Slicing can locate fault within less time and effort, which means WP-Slicing is more effectively

Constructal minimization of emitter grid resistance of solar cell with variable cross-section collectors

586-592In constructal theory, the optimal shape (geometry) and structure of nature and engineered systems are the outcome of their functionality and resources and constraints. The constructal volume-point flow model is applied to the design and performance optimization of solar cells in this paper. The optimal electrode distribution in emitter of a solar cell is obtained by using optimized variable cross-section collectors and rectangular elemental areas. The minimum series electrical resistance is taken as optimization objective. The minimum series electrical resistance obtained herein is smaller than that obtained by using optimized constant cross-section collectors. The results show that the constructal design succeeds to compromise effectively the conflict between decreasing the series electrical resistance and decreasing shadow for the design of solar cells
