Quantum coherent transport in a three-arm beam splitter and a Braess paradox
The Braess paradox encountered in classical networks is a counterintuitive
phenomenon when the flow in a road network can be impeded by adding a new road
or, more generally, the overall net performance can degrade after addition of
an extra available choice. In this work, we discuss the possibility of a
similar effect in a phase-coherent quantum transport and demonstrate it by
example of a simple Y-shaped metallic fork. To reveal the Braess-like partial
suppression of the charge flow in such device, it is proposed to transfer two
outgoing arms into a superconducting state. We show that the differential
conductance-vs-voltage spectrum of the hybrid fork structure varies
considerably when the extra link between the two superconducting leads is added
and it can serve as an indicator of quantum correlations which manifest
themselves in the quantum Braess paradox.Comment: 9 pages, 3 figures, the author version presented at the Quantum 2017

Infra-red Spectroscopic Studies of GdBaCo2O5.5
This paper reports infrared spectroscopic studies on GdBaCoO
layered perovskite which exhibits successive magnetic transitions from
paramagnetic to ferromagnetic to antiferromagnetic states as well as high
temperature metal to insulator transition and a change in charge transport
mechanism at low temperature. Infrared absorption spectra recorded at various
temperatures in the range 80 K to 350 K reveal changes in the positions of Co-O
stretching and bending frequencies which provide an explanation to the magnetic
and transport behaviour of this compound.Comment: 5 figure
EFFECT OF RARE EARTH ELEMENTS ADDITION ON NONMETALLIC INCLUSIONS BASED ON CaO AND Al2O3 OF 13HFA STEEL
Impurity of 13HFA steel modified by rare earth elements is estimated using the metallographic method. Nonmetallic inclusions were studied using SEM and X-ray diffraction method. It has been established that the treatment of the steel by rare earth elements leads to the production of nonmetallic inclusions that are complex in structure and composition
Intrinsically shunted Josephson junctions for electronics applications
Conventional Josephson metal-insulator-metal devices are inherently underdamped and exhibit hysteretic current -voltage response due to a very high subgap resistance compared to that in the normal state. At the same time, overdamped junctions with single-valued characteristics are needed for most superconducting digital applications. The usual way to overcome the hysteretic behavior is to place an external low-resistance normal-metal shunt in parallel with each junction. Unfortunately, such solution results in a considerable complication of the circuitry design and introduces parasitic inductance through the junction. This paper provides a concise overview of some generic approaches that have been proposed in order to realize internal shunting in Josephson heterostructures with a barrier that itself contains the desired resistive component. The main attention is paid to self-shunted devices with local weak-link transmission probabilities that are so strongly disordered in the interface plane that transmission probabilities are tiny for the main part of the transition region between two super-conducting electrodes, while a small part of the interface is well transparent. We discuss the possibility of realizing a universal bimodal distribution function and emphasize advantages of such junctions that can be considered as a new class of self-shunted Josephson devices promising for practical applications in superconducting electronics operating at 4.2 K
Оn Methodological Approaches to the Formation of Indicators of Trade Organizations Effectiveness
The article focuses on the importance of methodological approaches to determining the effectiveness of organizations; considers such approaches to the calculation of performance indicators as the “costly” approach, the “net return” approach and the approach “characterizing the effectiveness of capital allocation”. It identifies the factors which influence the availability of reliable information for assessing the organization effectiveness by external users of accounting (financial) statements and complicate this assessment for internal users. The authors carry out a comparative analysis of the calculation of performance indicators dynamics, made by the traditional method and the refined method, in terms of adjusting the differentiation of complex articles of accounting (financial) reporting and excluding tax accounting items. It is concluded that to increase the reliability of the information base for evaluating the effectiveness of organizations, it is important to take into account the estimated characteristics of the reported indicators at fair value or amortized cost. The article substantiates the expediency of making adjustments to accounting (financial) items not related to cash flows

The Higher Accounting Education in Primorsky Territory: History and New Horizons of Development
This article is devoted to the history of development of the higher accounting education in Primorsky Territory: starting from the creation of the Vladivostok branch of the Moscow institute of a national economy of G.V. Plekhanov and up to the creation of the joint chair of accounting, the analysis and auditing of the School of Economics and Management of the Far Eastern Federal University. The article considers how the purposes of educational programs changed through the years depending on the requirements of the economy, and which tasks are defined for the perspective. The article states historical milestones of the development of the accounting chair, since 1964 and until present, the formations of scientific and pedagogical faculties during this period, when the first head of that chair was Ivan Fyodorovich Machnev, an outstanding scientist and organizer. The authors paid special attention to the perspectives of implementation of the new educational programs for the bachelor degree and master degree, which were developed by the chair according to the educational standards that are independently set by the Far Eastern Federal University, and are oriented at modern business community requests and recommendations of the International Federation of Accountants in the field of accounting education and the experience of implementation of similar programs at leading universities of Asian-Pacific region
