On the Beginning of the Demographic Transition in Russia

В статье автор ставит перед собой теоретическую задачу — определить хронологический период вступления российского населения в первый демографический переход от традиционного к современному типу воспроизводства населения. По этому вопросу нет единого мнения среди исследователей. На основе анализа текущего учета демографических событий и материалов Первой всеобщей переписи населения Российской империи в статье исследуются особенности развития демографических процессов и динамика численности населения в России в XIX в., рассматривается зарождение признаков глубинных изменений демографических процессов и структуры населения России.The article sets a theoretical task to chronologically determine the beginning of the first demographic transition from the traditional to the modern type of population reproduction for the Russian population. There is no consensus among researchers on this issue. Based on the analysis of current demographic events and materials of the First general census of the population of the Russian Empire, the paper examines the features of demographic processes and population dynamics in Russia in the 19th century, as well as considers signs of profound changes in demographic processes and the structure of the Russian population.Исследование выполнено в рамках реализации проекта Института российской истории РАН «История России».The article has been prepared within the framework of the project of the Institute of Russian History of RAS «History of Russia»
