Windowed Eigen-Decomposition Algorithm for Motion Artifact Reduction in Optical Coherence Tomography-Based Angiography
Optical coherence tomography-based angiography (OCTA) has attracted attention in clinical applications as a non-invasive and high-resolution imaging modality. Motion artifacts are the most seen artifact in OCTA. Eigen-decomposition (ED) algorithms are popular choices for OCTA reconstruction, but have limitations in the reduction of motion artifacts. The OCTA data do not meet one of the requirements of ED, which is that the data should be normally distributed. To overcome this drawback, we propose an easy-to-deploy development of ED, windowed-ED (wED). wED applies a moving window to the input data, which can contrast the blood-flow signals with significantly reduced motion artifacts. To evaluate our wED algorithm, pre-acquired dorsal wound healing data in a murine model were used. The ideal window size was optimized by fitting the data distribution with the normal distribution. Lastly, the cross-sectional and en face results were compared among several OCTA reconstruction algorithms, Speckle Variance, A-scan ED (aED), B-scan ED, and wED. wED could reduce the background noise intensity by 18% and improve PSNR by 4.6%, compared to the second best-performed algorithm, aED. This study can serve as a guide for utilizing wED to reconstruct OCTA images with an optimized window size
Key fault propagation path identification of CNC machine tools based on maximum occurrence probability
In order to revise the deviation caused by ignoring the dynamic character of fault propagation in traditional fault propagation path identification methods, a method based on the maximum occurrence probability is proposed to identify the key fault propagation path. Occurrence probability of fault propagation path is defined by dynamic importance, dynamic fault propagation probability and fault rate. Taking the fault information of CNC machine tools whichsubject to Weibull distribution as an example, this method has been proven to be reasonable through comparative analysis. Result shows that the key fault propagation path of CNC machine tools is not unique, but changes with time. Before 1000 hours, key fault propagation path is electrical component (E) to mechanical component (M); after 1000 hours, key fault propagation path is auxiliary component (A) to mechanical component (M). This change should be taken into account when developing maintenance strategies and conducting reliability analysis
RinRK1 enhances NF receptors accumulation in nanodomain-like structures at root-hair tip
Abstract Legume-rhizobia root-nodule symbioses involve the recognition of rhizobial Nod factor (NF) signals by NF receptors, triggering both nodule organogenesis and rhizobial infection. RinRK1 is induced by NF signaling and is essential for infection thread (IT) formation in Lotus japonicus. However, the precise mechanism underlying this process remains unknown. Here, we show that RinRK1 interacts with the extracellular domains of NF receptors (NFR1 and NFR5) to promote their accumulation at root hair tips in response to rhizobia or NFs. Furthermore, Flotillin 1 (Flot1), a nanodomain-organizing protein, associates with the kinase domains of NFR1, NFR5 and RinRK1. RinRK1 promotes the interactions between Flot1 and NF receptors and both RinRK1 and Flot1 are necessary for the accumulation of NF receptors at root hair tips upon NF stimulation. Our study shows that RinRK1 and Flot1 play a crucial role in NF receptor complex assembly within localized plasma membrane signaling centers to promote symbiotic infection
Transcriptome Reveals the Effects of Early Weaning on Lipid Metabolism and Liver Health of Yangtze Sturgeon (Acipenser dabryanus)
The Yangtze sturgeon (Acipenser dabryanus) has recently been declared extinct in the wild, and artificial breeding is the only means to protect its germplasm resources, but it has difficulty in weaning (from live prey to artificial food). In this study, we first performed a histological observation, enzyme-activity determination, and transcriptome sequencing on the livers of juvenile Yangtze sturgeons, and we then cloned five critical genes of lipid metabolism according to the transcriptome-sequencing results. We designed a weaning experiment to analyze their expression levels during weaning. The results showed that the density of hepatocytes and the transaminase activity of the juveniles failed to wean. The differentially expressed genes were enriched significantly in the pathways involving steroid synthesis, amino acid metabolism, and pancreatic secretion. It was found that the mRNA level of the fatty acid-synthesis gene decreased, and the mRNA level of the lipolysis gene increased significantly during weaning. The results of this research indicated that weaning could affect the liver health of Yangtze sturgeon, and it could affect the liver lipid metabolism by inhibiting fatty acid synthesis and promoting lipolysis. This study enhances our understanding of the impact of weaning on the lipid metabolism in fish
