High pressure magnetic state of MnP probed by means of muon-spin rotation
We report a detailed SR study of the pressure evolution of the magnetic
order in the manganese based pnictide MnP, which has been recently found to
undergo a superconducting transition under pressure once the magnetic ground
state is suppressed. Using the muon as a volume sensitive local magnetic probe,
we identify a ferromagnetic state as well as two incommensurate helical states
(with propagation vectors aligned along the crystallographic and
directions, respectively) which transform into each other through first
order phase transitions as a function of pressure and temperature. Our data
appear to support that the magnetic state from which superconductivity develops
at higher pressures is an incommensurate helical phase.Comment: 11 pages, 9 figure
Superconductivity in Geometrically Frustrated Pyrochlore RbOs2O6
We report the basic thermodynamic properties of the new geometrically
frustrated beta-pyrochlore bulk superconductor RbOs2O6 with a critical
temperature Tc = 6.4 K. Specific heat measurements are performed in magnetic
fields up to 12 T. The electronic density of states at the Fermi level in the
normal state results in gamma = (33.7 \pm 0.2) mJ/mol_f.u./K^2. In the
superconducting state, the specific heat follows conventional BCS-type behavior
down to 1 K, i.e. over three orders of magnitude in specific heat data. The
upper critical field slope at Tc is 1.2 T/K, corresponding to a Maki-parameter
alpha = 0.64 \pm 0.1. From the upper critical field mu0 Hc2 \approx 6 T at 0 K,
we estimate a Ginzburg-Landau coherence length xi \approx 7.4 nm. RbOs2O6 is
the second reported metallic AB2O6 type pyrochlore compound after KOs2O6, and
one of only three pyrochlore superconductors in addition to Cd2Re2O7 and
KOs2O6

Observation of Leggett's collective mode in a multi-band MgB2 superconductor
We report observation of Leggett's collective mode in a multi-band MgB2
superconductor with T_c=39K arising from the fluctuations in the relative phase
between two superconducting condensates. The novel mode is observed by Raman
spectroscopy at 9.4 meV in the fully symmetric scattering channel. The observed
mode frequency is consistent with theoretical considerations based on the first

Pressure-induced electronic phase separation of magnetism and superconductivity in CrAs
The recent discovery of pressure induced superconductivity in the binary
helimagnet CrAs has attracted much attention. How superconductivity emerges
from the magnetic state and what is the mechanism of the superconducting
pairing are two important issues which need to be resolved. In the present
work, the suppression of magnetism and the occurrence of superconductivity in
CrAs as a function of pressure () were studied by means of muon spin
rotation. The magnetism remains bulk up to ~kbar while its volume
fraction gradually decreases with increasing pressure until it vanishes at
7~kbar. At 3.5 kbar superconductivity abruptly appears with its
maximum ~K which decreases upon increasing the pressure. In the
intermediate pressure region (~kbar) the
superconducting and the magnetic volume fractions are spatially phase separated
and compete for phase volume. Our results indicate that the less conductive
magnetic phase provides additional carriers (doping) to the superconducting
parts of the CrAs sample thus leading to an increase of the transition
temperature () and of the superfluid density (). A scaling of
with as well as the phase separation between magnetism and
superconductivity point to a conventional mechanism of the Cooper-pairing in

Type-1.5 Superconductors
We demonstrate the existence of a novel superconducting state in high quality
two-component MgB2 single crystalline superconductors where a unique
combination of both type-1 (kappa_1 0.707)
superconductor conditions is realized for the two components of the order
parameter. This condition leads to a vortex-vortex interaction attractive at
long distances and repulsive at short distances, which stabilizes
unconventional stripe- and gossamer-like vortex patterns that we have
visualized in this type-1.5 superconductor using Bitter decoration and also
reproduced in numerical simulations.Comment: accepted in Phys. Rev. Let
Single crystal of superconducting SmFeAsO1-xFy grown at high pressure
Single crystals of SmFeAsO1-xFy of a size up to 120 micrometers have been
grown from NaCl/KCl flux at a pressure of 30 kbar and temperature of 1350-1450
C using the cubic anvil high-pressure technique. The superconducting transition
temperature of the obtained single crystals varies between 45 and 53 K.Obtained
crystals are characterized by a full diamagnetic response in low magnetic
fields and by a high critical current density in high magnetic fields.
Structural refinement has been performed on single crystal. Differential
thermal analysis investigations at 1 bar Ar pressure show decomposition of
