    A Multidomain Survivable Virtual Network Mapping Algorithm

    Although the existing networks are more often deployed in the multidomain environment, most of existing researches focus on single-domain networks and there are no appropriate solutions for the multidomain virtual network mapping problem. In fact, most studies assume that the underlying network can operate without any interruption. However, physical networks cannot ensure the normal provision of network services for external reasons and traditional single-domain networks have difficulties to meet user needs, especially for the high security requirements of the network transmission. In order to solve the above problems, this paper proposes a survivable virtual network mapping algorithm (IntD-GRC-SVNE) that implements multidomain mapping in network virtualization. IntD-GRC-SVNE maps the virtual communication networks onto different domain networks and provides backup resources for virtual links which improve the survivability of the special networks. Simulation results show that IntD-GRC-SVNE can not only improve the survivability of multidomain communications network but also render the network load more balanced and greatly improve the network acceptance rate due to employment of GRC (global resource capacity)

    KINETIC AND EMG ANALYSIS OF THE NEW DEDIGN STEPWISE LOADING SYSTEM

    The great muscle strength and power are important factors for successful sport performance. Many strength coaches instructed their athletes to move the weight for developing muscle strength. However, most weight training systems consist of lifting a steady load, this having the drawback of nol accounting for the change in strength with the change in muscle length. In order to solve this problem, this study developed a stepwise weight training system using linkage which is capable of increasing the load in isotonic contraction, then compared kinetics and muscle activation between the stepwise contraction and the traditional isotonic contraction. The results showed that both the normalized peak tension and the angle of peak tension of the stepwise contraction were significantly larger than traditional isotonic contraction. The normalized impulse and the integrated EMG of the stepwise contraction was more than traditional isotonic contraction but not reached the significance The findings suggest that stepwise loading system can provide greater stimulus to muscle training effect than traditional weight training systems

    DreamLLM: Synergistic Multimodal Comprehension and Creation

    This paper presents DreamLLM, a learning framework that first achieves versatile Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) empowered with frequently overlooked synergy between multimodal comprehension and creation. DreamLLM operates on two fundamental principles. The first focuses on the generative modeling of both language and image posteriors by direct sampling in the raw multimodal space. This approach circumvents the limitations and information loss inherent to external feature extractors like CLIP, and a more thorough multimodal understanding is obtained. Second, DreamLLM fosters the generation of raw, interleaved documents, modeling both text and image contents, along with unstructured layouts. This allows DreamLLM to learn all conditional, marginal, and joint multimodal distributions effectively. As a result, DreamLLM is the first MLLM capable of generating free-form interleaved content. Comprehensive experiments highlight DreamLLM's superior performance as a zero-shot multimodal generalist, reaping from the enhanced learning synergy.Comment: see project page at https://dreamllm.github.io

    Multicast Capacity of Optical WDM Packet Ring for Hotspot Traffic

    Packet-switching WDM ring networks with a hotspot transporting unicast, multicast, and broadcast traffic are important components of high-speed metropolitan area networks. For an arbitrary multicast fanout traffic model with uniform, hotspot destination, and hotspot source packet traffic, we analyze the maximum achievable long-run average packet throughput, which we refer to as \textit{multicast capacity}, of bi-directional shortest-path routed WDM rings. We identify three segments that can experience the maximum utilization, and thus, limit the multicast capacity. We characterize the segment utilization probabilities through bounds and approximations, which we verify through simulations. We discover that shortest-path routing can lead to utilization probabilities above one half for moderate to large portions of hotspot source multi- and broadcast traffic, and consequently multicast capacities of less than two simultaneous packet transmissions. We outline a one-copy routing strategy that guarantees a multicast capacity of at least two simultaneous packet transmissions for arbitrary hotspot source traffic

    Dynamics of cadmium and arsenic at the capillary fringe of paddy soils: A microcosm study based on high-resolution porewater analysis

    Arsenic (As) and cadmium (Cd) are prevalent in paddy soils, posing potential threats to food safety and public health. The concentrations of soluble ​As and Cd is sensitive to moisture-driven changes in soil pH and Eh, which is barely described at the critical dry-wet interface. Here, tempo-spatial changes of soluble As and Cd were captured by In-situ Porewater Iterative samplers at the capillary fringe that extended from saturated to unsaturated moisture gradient at the millimeter scale (60 ​mm profile in depth) through two episodic dry-wet cycles (55 days in total). The As and Cd concentrations showed less significant fluctuation in second cycle compared to the initial dry-wet cycle. The study also revealed at the capillary fringe profile (20–40 ​mm), the As concentrations increased from 4.6 μg L−1 in unsaturated soils to 13.5 μg L−1 in saturated soils, while Cd decreased from 3.3 to 0.2 μg L−1. This observed correlation was aligned with the vertical changes in soil Eh (+287 to +381 ​mV) and pH (3.42–6.07). This study found a distinct zone characterized by low As and low Cd concentrations, typically situated approximately 10–30 ​mm beneath the capillary fringe. Upon further analysis, it was determined that soil with an Eh of 249 ​mV and a pH of 4.3 potentially serves as an optimal environment for decreasing As and Cd levels in porewater. These findings suggest that it is feasible to reduce As and Cd concentration in the soil by implementing appropriate depth-controlled water management techniques

    Mendelian randomization study of gastroesophageal reflux disease and major depression.

    This study systematically investigated the causal relationship between gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and major depression (MD). Single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with disorders of interest were screened via the genome-wide association study (GWAS) enrolling individuals of European descent. Summary-level data for GERD and MD were extracted from the UK Biobank. The inverse-variance-weighted (IVW) method was utilized as the primary analysis. Sensitivity analyses were performed using the MR-Egger method, the Maximum likelihood method, the MR-pleiotropy residual sum outlier (MR-PRESSO) method, and MR-robust adjusted profile score (MR-RAPS) method. MR-Egger regression, heterogeneity tests, pleiotropy tests, and leave-one-out tests were also performed to analyze sensitivity. The MR Steiger test was used to verify the directionality of the exposure to the outcome. An available website tool (https://shiny.cnsgenomics.com/mRnd/) was used to calculate the statistical power of MR analysis. Meta-analysis was applied to test MD's average genetically predicted effect on GERD. Our MR study showed a bidirectional causal association between MD and GERD. Regarding MD to GERD, there was a positive association between them; the ORs were 1.500 (95% CI = 1.320-1.704; P = 4.91E-10) and 2.058 (95% CI = 1.868-2.267; P = 2.20E-48) in the IVW method, respectively. In addition, the meta-analysis also showed a strong positive causal association between MD and GERD. When exposure and outcome were reversed, genetic predisposition to GERD was significantly associated with the overall Risk of advanced MD (ieu-a-1187, OR = 1.982, 95% CI = 1.694-2.319, P = 1.41E-17; ieu-b-102, OR = 1.612, 95% CI = 1.530-2.700, P = 1.15E-70). Our study provides 100% power to detect the causal effect of MD on GERD and vice versa. Genetically predicted MD was positively associated with higher GERD risk, and vice versa. Our study reminds clinicians to pay attention to screening for GERD when diagnosing and treating MD and vice versa. Moreover, there may be positive feedback between MD and GERD when treating and preventing one disorder may benefit the treatment and prevention of the other
