    Compensation Methods for Demand Response

    Recently, more and more disputations about how demand response should be compensated have arisen. Moreover, the court is about to rehear the Order 745. It probably will have significant impact on the whole working system used to be built for demand response before. Nowadays, some power companies and utilities think that they will endure profits leakage while demand response resources still are compensated. In this research, knowledge of demand response, local marginal price, Order 745 and other related concept will be explained in detail in case of misunderstanding. Associated with all these knowledge, a possible compensation method will be proposed. It combines many existing compensation methods. It mainly can be divided into three parts, i.e., high load period, off-peak period and low load period. The demand response resources will be compensated appropriately through these three periods. In the third part, we review the properties of triboluminescence, particularly on the unique characteristics and their improvements.     Realistic Flipped SU(5) from Orbifold SO(10)

    We propose a realistic flipped SU(5) model derived from a five-dimensional orbifold SO(10) model. The Standard Model (SM) fermion masses and mixings are explained by combining the traditional Froggatt-Nielsen mechanism with the five-dimensional wave function profiles of the SM fermions. Employing tree-level spontaneous R-symmetry breaking in the hidden sector and extra(ordinary) gauge mediation, we obtain realistic supersymmetry breaking soft mass terms with non-vanishing gaugino masses. Including the messenger fields at the intermediate scale and Kaluza-Klein states at the compactification scale, we study gauge coupling unification. We show that the SO(10) unified gauge coupling is very strong and the unification scale can be much higher than the compactification scale.     Graphene-oxide modified polyvinyl-alcohol as microbial carrier to improve high salt wastewater treatment

    This work discussed the preparation and characterization of graphene oxide (GO) modified polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) for bacteria immobilization to enhance the biodegrdation efficiency of saline organic wastewater. GO-PVA material has lamellar structure with higher surface area to support bacterial growth and high salinity tolerance. It significantly stimulated the bacterial population by 1.4 times from 2.07×103 CFU/mL to 5.04×103 CFU/mL, and the microbial structure was also improved for salinity tolerance. Acinetobacter, Pseudomonas and Thermophilic hydrogen bacilli were enriched inside GO-PVA materials for glucose biodegradation. Compared to the CODCr removal efficiency with only PVA as the carrier (52.8%), GO-PVA material had better degradation performance (62.8%). It is proved as a good candidate for bioaugmentation to improve biodegradation efficiency in hypersaline organic wastewater

    Pluralistic Aging Diffusion Autoencoder

    Face aging is an ill-posed problem because multiple plausible aging patterns may correspond to a given input. Most existing methods often produce one deterministic estimation. This paper proposes a novel CLIP-driven Pluralistic Aging Diffusion Autoencoder (PADA) to enhance the diversity of aging patterns. First, we employ diffusion models to generate diverse low-level aging details via a sequential denoising reverse process. Second, we present Probabilistic Aging Embedding (PAE) to capture diverse high-level aging patterns, which represents age information as probabilistic distributions in the common CLIP latent space. A text-guided KL-divergence loss is designed to guide this learning. Our method can achieve pluralistic face aging conditioned on open-world aging texts and arbitrary unseen face images. Qualitative and quantitative experiments demonstrate that our method can generate more diverse and high-quality plausible aging results.Comment: Accepted by ICCV 202
