Translating Tenor: With Reference to the English Versions of Hong Lou Meng
The objective of this paper is to see how the Chinese tenor as exhibited by the use of titles and honorifics in the classic novel Hong Lou Meng is translated in its five English versions. I shall compare the translations of several dialogues from the novel with special reference to the tenor-markers. By adopting House’s interpersonal equivalence as a criterion to measure the social distance and power between the dyads as shown by the tenor in both the SL conversations and their respective TL versions, I shall investigate the relationship between the interpersonal equivalence that is acquired in the TT and the strategies that are adopted to translate the dialogues. The argument put forward here is that in order to produce a translation that not only reads fluently but also retains the linguistic and cultural features of a foreign literary work, foreignising should be adopted as a mainstream rather than exclusive strategy, with assistance drawn from domesticating solutions.L’article cherche à montrer comment le ténor chinois, tel qu’il est présenté par des titres et des formules de politesse dans le roman classique Hong Lou Meng, est traduit dans cinq versions anglaises.
Toric Intraocular Lenses

Meanwhile, this chapter also discussed toric IOL in some special cases like keratoconus corneal ectatic disorders, post-refractive surgery and post-keratoplasty, etc
DeepAAT: Deep Automated Aerial Triangulation for Fast UAV-based Mapping
Automated Aerial Triangulation (AAT), aiming to restore image pose and
reconstruct sparse points simultaneously, plays a pivotal role in earth
observation. With its rich research heritage spanning several decades in
photogrammetry, AAT has evolved into a fundamental process widely applied in
large-scale Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) based mapping. Despite its
advancements, classic AAT methods still face challenges like low efficiency and
limited robustness. This paper introduces DeepAAT, a deep learning network
designed specifically for AAT of UAV imagery. DeepAAT considers both spatial
and spectral characteristics of imagery, enhancing its capability to resolve
erroneous matching pairs and accurately predict image poses. DeepAAT marks a
significant leap in AAT's efficiency, ensuring thorough scene coverage and
precision. Its processing speed outpaces incremental AAT methods by hundreds of
times and global AAT methods by tens of times while maintaining a comparable
level of reconstruction accuracy. Additionally, DeepAAT's scene clustering and
merging strategy facilitate rapid localization and pose determination for
large-scale UAV images, even under constrained computing resources. The
experimental results demonstrate DeepAAT's substantial improvements over
conventional AAT methods, highlighting its potential in the efficiency and
accuracy of UAV-based 3D reconstruction tasks. To benefit the photogrammetry
society, the code of DeepAAT will be released at:

Electrically tunable Gilbert damping in van der Waals heterostructures of two-dimensional ferromagnetic metals and ferroelectrics
Tuning the Gilbert damping of ferromagnetic (FM) metals via a nonvolatile way
is of importance to exploit and design next-generation novel spintronic
devices. Through systematical first-principles calculations, we study the
magnetic properties of the van der Waals heterostructure of two-dimensional FM
metal CrTe2 and ferroelectric (FE) In2Te3 monolayers. The ferromagnetism of
CrTe2 is maintained in CrTe2/In2Te3 and its magnetic easy axis can be switched
from in-plane to out-of-plane by reversing the FE polarization of In2Te3.
Excitingly, we find that the Gilbert damping of CrTe2 is tunable when the FE
polarization of In2Te3 is reversed from upward to downward. By analyzing the
k-dependent contributions to the Gilbert damping, we unravel that such
tunability results from the changed intersections between the bands of CrTe2
and Fermi level on the reversal of the FE polarizations of In2Te3 in
CrTe2/In2Te3. Our work provides an appealing way to electrically tailor Gilbert
dampings of two-dimensional FM metals by contacting them with ferroelectrics.Comment: 4 Figures, accepted by Applied Physics Letter
Intraoperative Liposomal Bupivacaine Does Not Reduce Opioid Use vs. Ropivacaine: A Systematic Review
Introduction: Liposomal bupivacaine (LB) is a long-acting analgesic that, due to its liposomal formulation, purportedly extends its analgesic effect up to 72 hours. However, the clinical efficacy of LB appears mixed. This systematic review seeks to evaluate the effectiveness of liposomal bupivacaine in improving postoperative outcomes compared to ropivacaine (ROPI), another commonly used long-acting analgesic.
Materials and Methods: Prospective and randomized controlled trials (RCTs) evaluating the efficacy of LB compared to ROPI were selected for review. Primary outcomes included hospital length of stay (LOS) and postoperative opioid consumption measured in oral morphine equivalents (OME). Secondary outcomes included analgesic cost.
Results: 14 studies met the review criteria. We found that LB and ROPI are equivalent in managing postoperative pain. 8 of the 14 trials reported equal efficacy between LB and ROPI as determined by OME post-procedure and 10 of the 14 trials reported similar LOS after surgery. These findings remained consistent across multiple surgical procedures and multiple drug administrative modalities.
Conclusion: Our systematic review found that LB was not superior to ROPI in reducing postoperative OME use and hospital LOS. The only consistent finding was the significantly increased cost of LB compared to that of ROPI. Therefore, the use of LB over ROPI cannot be justified
catena-Poly[cobalt(II)-bis(μ-3,7-dichloroquinoline-8-carboxylato-κ3 N,O:O′)]
In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Co(C10H4Cl2NO2)2]n, the CoII cation lies on a twofold rotation axis. Each cation is N,O-chelated by the carboxylate anions of two 3,7-dichloroquinoline-8-carboxylate ligands. The second carboxylate O atom of each ligand coordinates to the CoII cation of an adjacent molecule, linking the cations into a linear chain. Strong interchain π–π stacking interactions are observed in the crystal structure (perpendicular distance 3.42 Å, centroid-to-centroid distance 3.874 Å
Planning Model for Integrated Energy Supply System in Park Level Regions Under the Energy Internet
With the reduction of traditional fossil fuels and the increasing severity of environmental issues, it is of great significance to study energy system planning and optimization models that complement and integrate multiple energy utilization methods in the context of the energy internet for building an integrated energy supply system. Firstly, this article divides the planning indicators of the regional integrated energy supply system into four categories based on the goal of “two highs and three lows”; Secondly, analyze the three key issues of exergy efficiency, economy, and multi energy coupling in regional integrated energy planning; Finally, a multi-objective planning model for regional integrated energy systems that takes into account equipment capacity planning and operation scheduling optimization is proposed, with the optimization objectives of minimizing the annual value of full life cycle cost and maximizing efficiency, and a double-layer optimization structure is designed for efficient solution
Authentication using c-VEP evoked in a mild-burdened cognitive task
In recent years, more and more researchers are devoting themselves to the studies about authentication based on biomarkers. Among a wide variety of biomarkers, code-modulated visual evoked potential (c-VEP) has attracted increasing attention due to its significant role in the field of brain-computer interface. In this study, we designed a mild-burdened cognitive task (MBCT), which can check whether participants focus their attention on the visual stimuli that evoke c-VEP. Furthermore, we investigated the authentication based on the c-VEP evoked in the cognitive task by introducing a deep learning method. Seventeen participants were recruited to take part in the MBCT experiments including two sessions, which were carried out on two different days. The c-VEP signals from the first session were extracted to train the authentication deep models. The c-VEP data of the second session were used to verify the models. It achieved a desirable performance, with the average accuracy and F1 score, respectively, of 0.92 and 0.89. These results show that c-VEP carries individual discriminative characteristics and it is feasible to develop a practical authentication system based on c-VEP
