Free Cash Flows and Price Momentum

    Get PDF
This study investigates the role of free cash flows and (cross-sectional and time-series) price momentum in predicting future stock returns. Past returns and free cash flows each positively predict future stock returns after controlling for the other, suggesting that cash flows and momentum both contain valuable and distinctive information about future stock returns. A strategy of buying past winners with high free cash flows and shorting past losers with low free cash flows significantly outperforms the traditional momentum trading strategy. The enhanced performance is not sensitive to investor sentiment, time variations, or transaction costs. Further analysis shows that the incremental cash flow effects are largely attributable to net distributions to equity/debt holders. Overall, our findings shed light on the role of corporate fundamentals in technical trading strategies

In the title complex, [Zn(C13H16NOS2)2], the ZnII ion is four-coordinated by two N,O-bidentate Schiff base ligands, resulting in a distorted trans-ZnN2O2 square-planar geometry for the metal ion

Short-Term Traffic Prediction Based on Genetic Algorithm Improved Neural Network

    Get PDF
This paper takes the time series of short-term traffic flow as research object. The delay time and embedding dimension are calculated by C-C algorithm, and the chaotic characteristics of the time series are verified by small data sets method. Then based on the neural network prediction model and the chaotic phase space reconstruction theory, the network topology is determined, and the prediction is conducted by the wavelet neural network and RBF neural network using Lan-Hai expressway experimental data. The results show that the prediction effect of RBF neural network is better. Due to the poor stability of the network caused by the initial parameters randomness, the genetic algorithm is used to optimize the initial parameters. The results show that the prediction error of the optimized wavelet neural network or RBF neural network is reduced by more than 10%, and prediction accuracy of the latter is better

The expression of Sirtuins 1 and 4 in peripheral blood leukocytes from patients with type 2 diabetes

This study was designed to investigate the relationship between SIRTs 1 and 4 in peripheral blood leukocytes (PBLs) and human type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). SIRTs 1 and 4 have been confirmed to be associated with homeostasis of glucose/lipid metabolism, but their roles in T2DM are still poorly understood. Peripheral blood and biochemical data were collected from 52 healthy individuals (normal control group, NC group) and 113 cases of T2DM patients. Immunocytochemical staining was used to detect SIRT1 and SIRT4 and reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was used to detect SIRT1 or SIRT4 mRNA levels in PBLs. Immunocytochemical staining showed that SIRT1 is expressed in both nucleus and cytoplasm, and SIRT4 in the cytoplasm of granulocytes and monocytes. No SIRT1 or SIRT4 was found in lymphocytes. RT-PCR showed that SIRT1 and SIRT4 mRNA levels in T2DM group were lower than those in NC group (P<0.01). Correlation analysis showed that there is a negative correlation between SIRTs 1 and 4 and fasting plasma glucose (FPG) (P<0.05) (r= −0.161 and −0.156), a positive correlation between SIRT4 mRNA levels and triglyceride (TG)/lipoprotein a (LPa) levels (P<0.05), and a negative correlation between SIRT4 mRNA levels and high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL) (P<0.05). SIRTs 1 and 4 may have a role in the pathogenesis of T2DM and their expression in granulocytes and monocytes may indirectly reflect the homeostasis of glucose/lipid metabolism in T2DM

In the title salt, C18H19N4O+·PF6 −, the dihedral angle between the benzimidazolium and benzimidazole ring systems is 16.24 (2)°. In the cation, a π–π interaction is observed between the imidazolium ring and the benzene ring of the benzimidazole ring system [centroid–centroid distance = 3.5713 (11) Å]. The PF6 − ion is disordered over two sites, with occupancies of 0.895 (2) and 0.105 (2). In the crystal structure, pairs of N—H⋯N hydrogen bonds link the cations, forming centrosymmetric dimers. The dimers are linked via π–π interactions [centroid–centroid distance = 3.5606 (11) Å]. In addition, C—H⋯F hydrogen bonds are observed

Realization of Zero-Refractive-Index Lens with Ultralow Spherical Aberration

Optical complex materials offer unprecedented opportunity to engineer fundamental band dispersion which enables novel optoelectronic functionality and devices. Exploration of photonic Dirac cone at the center of momentum space has inspired an exceptional characteristic of zero-index, which is similar to zero effective mass in fermionic Dirac systems. Such all-dielectric zero-index photonic crystals provide an in-plane mechanism such that the energy of the propagating waves can be well confined along the chip direction. A straightforward example is to achieve the anomalous focusing effect without longitudinal spherical aberration, when the size of zero-index lens is large enough. Here, we designed and fabricated a prototype of zero-refractive-index lens by comprising large-area silicon nanopillar array with plane-concave profile. Near-zero refractive index was quantitatively measured near 1.55 um through anomalous focusing effect, predictable by effective medium theory. The zero-index lens was also demonstrated to perform ultralow longitudinal spherical aberration. Such IC compatible device provides a new route to integrate all-silicon zero-index materials into optical communication, sensing, and modulation, and to study fundamental physics on the emergent fields of topological photonics and valley photonics.Comment: 14 pages, 4 figure
