Charmonium states in QCD-inspired quark potential model using Gaussian expansion method
We investigate the mass spectrum and electromagnetic processes of charmonium
system with the nonperturbative treatment for the spin-dependent potentials,
comparing the pure scalar and scalar-vector mixing linear confining potentials.
It is revealed that the scalar-vector mixing confinement would be important for
reproducing the mass spectrum and decay widths, and therein the vector
component is predicted to be around 22%. With the state wave functions obtained
via the full-potential Hamiltonian, the long-standing discrepancy in M1
radiative transitions of and are alleviated
spontaneously. This work also intends to provide an inspection and suggestion
for the possible among the copious higher charmonium-like states.
Particularly, the newly observed X(4160) and X(4350) are found in the
charmonium family mass spectrum as MeV and MeV, which strongly favor the assignments
respectively. The corresponding radiative transitions, leptonic and two-photon
decay widths have been also predicted theoretically for the further

Random field sampling for a simplified model of melt-blowing considering turbulent velocity fluctuations
In melt-blowing very thin liquid fiber jets are spun due to high-velocity air
streams. In literature there is a clear, unsolved discrepancy between the
measured and computed jet attenuation. In this paper we will verify numerically
that the turbulent velocity fluctuations causing a random aerodynamic drag on
the fiber jets -- that has been neglected so far -- are the crucial effect to
close this gap. For this purpose, we model the velocity fluctuations as vector
Gaussian random fields on top of a k-epsilon turbulence description and develop
an efficient sampling procedure. Taking advantage of the special covariance
structure the effort of the sampling is linear in the discretization and makes
the realization possible

Balancing the popularity bias of object similarities for personalised recommendation
Network-based similarity measures have found wide applications in recommendation algorithms and made signicant contributions for uncovering users' potential interests. However, existing measures are generally biased in terms of popularity, that the popular objects tend to have more common neighbours with others and thus are considered more similar to others. Such popularity bias
of similarity quantification will result in the biased recommendations, with either poor accuracy or poor diversity. Based on the bipartite network modelling of the user-object interactions, this paper firstly calculates the expected number of common neighbours of two objects with given popularities in random networks. A Balanced Common Neighbour similarity index is accordingly developed
by removing the random-driven common neighbours, estimated as the expected number, from the total number. Recommendation experiments in three data sets show that balancing the popularity bias in a certain degree can significantly improve the recommendations' accuracy and diversity

Search for the Rare Decays J/Psi --> Ds- e+ nu_e, J/Psi --> D- e+ nu_e, and J/Psi --> D0bar e+ e-
We report on a search for the decays J/Psi --> Ds- e+ nu_e + c.c., J/Psi -->
D- e+ nu_e + c.c., and J/Psi --> D0bar e+ e- + c.c. in a sample of 5.8 * 10^7
J/Psi events collected with the BESII detector at the BEPC. No excess of signal
above background is observed, and 90% confidence level upper limits on the
branching fractions are set: B(J/Psi --> Ds- e+ nu_e + c.c.)<4.8*10^-5, B(J/Psi

Interleukin-6 Attenuates Insulin-Mediated Increases in Endothelial Cell Signaling but Augments Skeletal Muscle Insulin Action via Differential Effects on Tumor Necrosis Factor-α Expression
OBJECTIVE: The cytokine interleukin-6 (IL-6) stimulates AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and insulin signaling in skeletal muscle, both of which result in the activation of endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS). We hypothesized that IL-6 promotes endothelial cell signaling and capillary recruitment in vivo, contributing to increased glucose uptake. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS: The effect of IL-6 with and without insulin on AMPK, insulin, and eNOS signaling in and nitric oxide (NO) release from human aortic endothelial cells (HAECs) was examined. The physiological significance of these in vitro signaling events was assessed by measuring capillary recruitment in rats during control and euglycemic-hyperinsulinemic clamps with or without IL-6 infusion. RESULTS: IL-6 blunted increases in insulin signaling, eNOS phosphorylation (Ser1177), and NO production and reduced phosphorylation of AMPK in HAEC in vitro and capillary recruitment in vivo. In contrast, IL-6 increased Akt phosphorylation (Ser473) in hindlimb skeletal muscle and enhanced whole-body glucose disappearance and glucose uptake during the clamp. The differences in endothelial cell and skeletal muscle signaling were mediated by the cell-specific, additive effects of IL-6 and insulin because this treatment markedly increased tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha protein expression in HAECs without any effect on TNF-alpha in skeletal muscle. When HAECs were incubated with a TNF-alpha-neutralizing antibody, the negative effects of IL-6 on eNOS signaling were abolished. CONCLUSIONS: In the presence of insulin, IL-6 contributes to aberrant endothelial cell signaling because of increased TNF-alpha expression
Measurements of the observed cross sections for exclusive light hadron production in e^+e^- annihilation at \sqrt{s}= 3.773 and 3.650 GeV
By analyzing the data sets of 17.3 pb taken at GeV
and 6.5 pb taken at GeV with the BESII detector at the
BEPC collider, we have measured the observed cross sections for 12 exclusive
light hadron final states produced in annihilation at the two energy
points. We have also set the upper limits on the observed cross sections and
the branching fractions for decay to these final states at 90%

Measurements of psi(2S) decays to octet baryon-antibaryon pairs
With a sample of 14 million psi(2S) events collected by the BESII detector at
the Beijing Electron Positron Collider (BEPC), the decay channels psi(2S)->p
p-bar, Lambda Lambda-bar, Sigma0 Sigma0-bar, Xi Xi-bar are measured, and their
branching ratios are determined to be (3.36+-0.09+-0.24)*10E-4,
(3.39+-0.20+-0.32)*10E-4, (2.35+-0.36+-0.32)*10E-4, (3.03+-0.40+-0.32)*10E-4,
respectively. In the decay psi(2S)->p p-bar, the angular distribution parameter
