Geometric Multi-Model Fitting by Deep Reinforcement Learning
This paper deals with the geometric multi-model fitting from noisy,
unstructured point set data (e.g., laser scanned point clouds). We formulate
multi-model fitting problem as a sequential decision making process. We then
use a deep reinforcement learning algorithm to learn the optimal decisions
towards the best fitting result. In this paper, we have compared our method
against the state-of-the-art on simulated data. The results demonstrated that
our approach significantly reduced the number of fitting iterations
Simultaneous Determination of Six Active Compounds in Yixin Badiranjibuya Granules, a Traditional Chinese Medicine, by RP-HPLC-UV Method
In this study, a sensitive, precise, and accurate HPLC-UV method was developed and validated to simultaneously determine the six analytes (luteolin-7-O-β-D-glucuronide, apigenin-7-O-β-D-glucuronide, diosmetin-7-O-β-D-glucuronide, acacetin-7-O-β-D-glucuronide, tilianin, and rosmarinic acid) in Yixin Badiranjibuya Granules, in which five analytes (i.e., luteolin-7-O-β-D-glucuronide, apigenin-7-O-β-D-glucuronide, diosmetin-7-O-β-D-glucuronide, acacetin-7-O-β-D-glucuronide, and rosmarinic acid) were determined for the first time in Yixin Badiranjibuya Granules, the content of tilianin in Yixin Badiranjibuya Granules was reported in other literatures, and the content of tilianin in our work was higher than that of the literature reports. The quality of 11 batch samples from four different manufacturers was evaluated using the proposed determination method. The contents of the six analytes were largely different among samples from various manufacturers. Therefore, this determination method can provide a scientific basis for quality evaluation and control of Yixin Badiranjibuya Granules
Geniposide Alleviates Glucocorticoid-Induced Inhibition of Osteogenic Differentiation in MC3T3-E1 Cells by ERK Pathway
Glucocorticoid (GC) therapy is the leading cause of secondary osteoporosis and the therapeutic and preventative drugs for GC-induced osteoporosis are limited. In this study, we investigated the protective effects of geniposide on dexamethasone (DEX)-induced osteogenic inhibition in MC3T3-E1 cells. The results showed that there was no obvious toxicity on MC3T3-E1 cells when geniposide was used at the doses ranging from 1 to 75 μM. In DEX-treated MC3T3-E1 cells, geniposide promoted the alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity and the mineralization. In addition, geniposide also significantly increased the mRNA and protein expression of osteopontin (OPN), Runt-related transcription factor 2 (Runx2), and Osterix (Osx) in DEX-treated MC3T3-E1 cells. Furthermore, geniposide activated ERK pathway in DEX-treated MC3T3-E1 cells. The ERK activation inhibitor U0126 and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor antagonist exendin 9-39 abolished the geniposide-induced activation of ERK and inhibited the protective effect of geniposide. Taken together, our study revealed that geniposide alleviated GC-induced osteogenic suppression in MC3T3-E1 cells. The effect of geniposide was at least partially associated with activating ERK signaling pathway via GLP-1 receptor. Geniposide might be a potential therapeutic agent for GC-induced osteoporosis
Application of intraoperative infrared thermography in bypass surgery for adult moyamoya syndrome: A preliminary study
Background and objectivesCerebral revascularization surgery is the mainstay of treatment for moyamoya syndrome (MMS) today, and intraoperative determination of the patency of the revascularized vessel is a critical factor in the success of the procedure. Currently, major imaging modalities include intraoperative indocyanine green (ICG) videoangiography (ICG-VA), digital subtraction angiography (DSA), and vascular ultrasound Doppler. Infrared thermography is a modern imaging modality with non-contact devices for the acquisition and analysis of thermal data. We aimed to investigate the feasibility and advantages of infrared thermography in determining anastomotic patency during MMS surgery.MethodsIndocyanine green videoangiography and infrared thermography were performed simultaneously in 21 patients with MMS who underwent bypass surgery. The detection result of vessel patency was compared, and the feasibility and advantages of infrared thermography were assessed.ResultsThe patency of the anastomosis was accurately determined in 21 patients using either ICG angiography or infrared thermography. In 20 patients, the results of infrared thermography showed that the vascular anastomosis was unobstructed, and there was an agreement with the subsequent results of ICG-VA. In one patient, we suspected inadequate patency after testing the anastomosis with infrared thermography, and the results of ICG-VA evaluation of the anastomosis confirmed that there was indeed an anastomotic obstruction.ConclusionCompared with ICG-VA, infrared thermography might offer an alternative non-invasive, contrast-free option in assessing anastomosis patency compared with ICG-VA, and it is likely to become more widely used in the clinic in the near future

Molecular Precision Engineering for Efficient Binary Organic Photovoltaics through Energy Level and Fibrillar Structure Modulation
Adjusting the energy levels and fibrillar morphology is paramount to enhancing the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of organic solar cells (OSCs). In the present study, an increase in the open-circuit voltage (VOC) is facilitated through the elongation of the alkyl chain within AQx (namely AQx-8), aiming to decrease the free volume ratio (FVR). This reduction in FVR attenuates electron-phonon coupling, thereby augmenting emission efficiency and diminishing the non-radiative energy loss (ΔEnr). To further refine the energy levels and morphological characteristics, the external undecyl chain of AQx-8 is substituted with a shorter carbon chain and cyclohexane noted for its considerable steric hindrance (AQx-H). This alteration significantly mitigates intermolecular aggregation, expands the bandgap, and elevates the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energy level, culminating in an elevated VOC of 0.923 V in devices based on AQx-H. Morphological analysis reveals that blends based on AQx-H exhibit an enhanced multi-length-scale fibrillar structure, which is conducive to exciton dissociation and charge transport, thereby contributing to a high fill factor (FF) nearing 80%. Consequently, this study reports one of the highest binary PCEs documented, standing at 19.5% (with certification at 19.0%)
Rheumatoid meningitis: a rare neurological complication of rheumatoid arthritis
ObjectiveTo describe the clinical and neuroimaging characteristics of rheumatoid meningitis (RM) in Chinese patients. MethodsThe patients admitted to our hospital with the diagnosis of RM in the past 8 years were retrospectively analyzed. ResultsSix patients with RM were identified among 933 patients admitted with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The symptoms of meningitis occurred after onset of arthritis in five patients and before onset in one. Headache (n=6), hyperacute focal neurological deficits (n=4) and seizures (n=3) were the most prevalent symptoms. The nadir modified Rankin Scale score was ≥3 in five patients. Rheumatoid factor was elevated in all patients, and interleukin-6 levels in cerebrospinal fluid were dramatically elevated in three of four tested patients. Magnetic resonance imaging of the brain revealed that the meninges were affected in all patients and the cerebral parenchyma was affected in one patient. The lesions were generally located in the frontoparietal region and showed restricted diffusion along the adjacent subarachnoid space. RM occurred during disease-modifying therapy in four patients. In the acute episode, three patients improved on tocilizumab and the other three improved on pulse corticosteroids. For maintenance therapy, two patients received combined therapy of tocilizumab and other immunosuppressive agents, one received adalimumab and methotrexate, and two received low-dose oral corticosteroids with an immunosuppressive agent. Five patients had a good outcome, and one died of Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia after stabilization of his neurologic conditions. No relapse of RM occurred on immunotherapy during follow-up. ConclusionsChinese patients with RM share some remarkable clinical and neuroimaging features and respond well to appropriate immunotherapy. Tocilizumab could be a treatment option for this severe complication of RA
AgentBench: Evaluating LLMs as Agents
Large Language Models (LLMs) are becoming increasingly smart and autonomous,
targeting real-world pragmatic missions beyond traditional NLP tasks. As a
result, there has been an urgent need to evaluate LLMs as agents on challenging
tasks in interactive environments. We present AgentBench, a multi-dimensional
evolving benchmark that currently consists of 8 distinct environments to assess
LLM-as-Agent's reasoning and decision-making abilities in a multi-turn
open-ended generation setting. Our extensive test over 27 API-based and
open-sourced (OSS) LLMs shows that, while top commercial LLMs present a strong
ability of acting as agents in complex environments, there is a significant
disparity in performance between them and OSS competitors. We identify the
typical reasons of failures in environments and LLMs, showing that poor
long-term reasoning, decision-making, and instruction following abilities are
the main obstacles for developing usable LLM agents. Training on code and high
quality multi-turn alignment data could improve agent performance. Datasets,
environments, and an integrated evaluation package for AgentBench are released

Roadmap on Perovskite Light-Emitting Diodes
In recent years, the field of metal-halide perovskite emitters has rapidly
emerged as a new community in solid-state lighting. Their exceptional
optoelectronic properties have contributed to the rapid rise in external
quantum efficiencies (EQEs) in perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) from
<1% (in 2014) to approaching 30% (in 2023) across a wide range of wavelengths.
However, several challenges still hinder their commercialization, including the
relatively low EQEs of blue/white devices, limited EQEs in large-area devices,
poor device stability, as well as the toxicity of the easily accessible lead
components and the solvents used in the synthesis and processing of PeLEDs.
This roadmap addresses the current and future challenges in PeLEDs across
fundamental and applied research areas, by sharing the community's
perspectives. This work will provide the field with practical guidelines to
advance PeLED development and facilitate more rapid commercialization.Comment: 103 pages, 29 figures. This is the version of the article before peer

ANALYSIS OF THE INFLUENCE OF SOP LEAD SHAPE ON SOLDER JOINT RELIABILITY
3-D finite element models of SOP( Small Outline Package) were constructed,in which Anand visco-plasticity constitutive equation was used to describe the mechanic behavior of solder joint. The solder joint deformation and stress distribution with five kinds of lead shapes were researched. The experimental program for the identification of numerical simulation was performed with three kinds of lead shapes. Both experimental and simulation results showed that the solder joint life is closely related with lead shape. The lead shape with low stiffness can decrease the stress apparently. With decreasing the bending radius or increasing the standoff height, the component reliability will be enhanced. The numerical simulation result was congruous with experimental testing data, can able to reflect the factual behavior of SOP accurately
