UNE VUE DEPUIS LES ANTĂCĂDENTS
There is wide agreement that background infrastructure is unconsciously applied and is not formally representable, but views diverge as to whether this sort of skill should be considered knowledge in the proper sense. In this paper I attempt to show that background infrastructure is a type of skilled knowledge which serves as a precondition for the mind to be about things in the world. Contrary to the common understanding that background is primarily mechanical, the view presented here affirms that it as a totality of knowing taken up by the body and converted into an implicit âknow-howâ. It appears as a mode of mindâs âenworldmentâ, as well as an organ of potentiality.
The paper deals with some misconceptions concerning âprivilegedâ (and at the same time âmysteriousâ?) access to our own experiences from the first-person perspective, points to the limitations of this immediacy, and questions the solipsist privacy of subjectivity. Based on the conviction that the identification of âpoint of viewâ with âperspectiveâ proves to be problematic, the author argues that we may take different perspectives from the same (person) point of view. As embodied and embedded cognitive persons we practice the interchange of perspectival attitudes towards our own subjectivity in our daily lives far more easily and frequently than we are prone to admit in our theories. This kind of methodology, part of which is also the objectivist third-person approach, does not have the power to revise the irreducibility between the subjective and the empirical, although it does appeal to the mind open to the intersubjective space, in which the irreducible can still be communicated, compared and complemented.Lâarticle traite de certaines conceptions erronĂ©es liĂ©es Ă des approches « privilĂ©giĂ©es » â et en mĂȘme temps mystĂ©rieuses â des expĂ©riences autonomes Ă la premiĂšre personne.
The Background: An Embodied Reason of Coping in the World
This paper is motivated by the general idea that philosophical ambition to understand and define the human mind exclusively in terms of conscious, propositional, and deliberative behaviour cannot be adequate, for it leaves out great part of our mentality, which resides in the background. On a more specific plane it focuses on the background as a means of providing the cognitive organism with most plausible scenarios of reality, and prepares it for what appears most likely to be the case in the world, in an instant way and without engaging in contemplation. The background proves to be a powerful instrument of initiating guesswork and does it in automatic and effortless manner. In such a way this backgrounded âreasonâ acts ahead of actuality and drives our behaviour and modes of our coping in the natural, social, and cultural world in an implicit way, not available in the conscious foreground. This paper is motivated by the general idea that philosophical ambition to understand and define the human mind exclusively in terms of conscious, propositional, and deliberative behaviour cannot be adequate, for it leaves out great part of our mentality, which resides in the background.
Primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) is a distinct form of aggressive non-Hodgkinâs lymphoma (NHL) confined to the central nervous system. PCNSL typically affects older population. Individuals with HIV infection are especially at risk of PCNSL development and their outcome is extremely poor. Due to the presence of the blood brain barrier, PCNSL is treated differently from other extranodal NHLs. The mainstay of treatment is the high-dose methotrexate (MTX). Despite the treatment, local relapses are frequent and almost inevitably fatal. Intensification of treatment is possible in patients younger than 60 years. Radiotherapy is effective but complicated with significant delayed neurotoxicity, especially in the elderly. There are no curative treatment options in older patients who represent the majority of patients. Novel less toxic agents have modest activity. Prospective multicentric trials are needed to establish the optimal treatment for PCNSL.Primarni limfom srediĆĄnjeg ĆŸivÄanog sustava (PLSZĆ ) je poseban oblik agresivnog ne-Hodgkinovog limfoma (NHL) lokaliziran u srediĆĄnjem ĆŸivÄanom sustavu.
This paper attempts to suggest that subjectivity should be viewed as extroverted and worldoriented rather than exclusively as introverted. It further suggests that subjectivities congregate in social surroundings, and that this type of experience is primary. If this is true, the question arises as to whether we cannot conceive of intersubjectivity as a method of possibly bypassing the gap that, according to skeptics, the problem of other minds has created. The paper then discusses the concept of the plurality of the self as a counterpoint to individualist and isolationist assessments of the mind that regard it inaccessible; however, this paper also states that not every joint attending is proper sharing. With more complex objects of attention, such as cultural artifacts, a version of mutual knowledge (for which the term âcontext of commonalityâ has been coined) is necessary on the part of co-attenders and co-agents for this interaction to be considered shared experience.
The View from the Background
There is wide agreement that background infrastructure is unconsciously applied and is not formally representable, but views diverge as to whether this sort of skill should be considered knowledge in the proper sense. In this paper I attempt to show that background infrastructure is a type of skilled knowledge which serves as a precondition for the mind to be about things in the world. Contrary to the common understanding that background is primarily mechanical, the view presented here affirms that it as a totality of knowing taken up by the body and converted into an implicit âknow-howâ. It appears as a mode of mindâs âenworldmentâ, as well as an organ of potentiality
