    Modul 3R: penyebaran kesedaran alam sekitar di Sabah dan Sarawak

    Matlamat kursus Pendidikan Alam Sekitar dan Kelestarian adalah untuk memberi kesedaran kepada guru, supaya ia dapat disalurkan kepada pelajar di sekolah masing-masing. Kesedaran ini diperoleh apabila seseorang itu mengalami sendiri proses pendidikan alam sekitar, antaranya melalui aktiviti reuse, reduce dan recycle (3R). Aktiviti ini dapat dirasai dan boleh dilakukan dengan merancang dan melaksanakan aktiviti melalui modul 3R. Justeru, kajian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan maklum sejauh mana aktiviti modul 3R dapat disebarkan melalui tugasan dalam kursus ini secara meluas di Sabah dan Sarawak. Semua peserta kajian adalah guru yang menyambung pengajian secara separuh masa. Mereka terdiri daripada 28 pelajar Sabah dan 32 pelajar Sarawak yang mengikuti kursus Pendidikan Alam Sekitar dan Kelestarian. Peserta kajian dikehendaki membina modul 3R dan menggunakan modul ini kepada murid di sekolah masing-masing. Data dikumpul melalui dokumen, catatan refleksi dan temu bual. Dapatan menunjukkan sebanyak 56 buah sekolah terlibat (44 sekolah di Sarawak dan 12 sekolah di Sabah) dengan aktiviti modul 3R bagi memberi pengalaman pembelajaran dan kesedaran kepada lebih ramai murid. Aktiviti modul 3R telah melibatkan seramai 4644 murid di Sarawak dan 610 murid di Sabah. Pelbagai platform dijadikan asas kepada pelaksanaan aktiviti modul 3R iaitu pembelajaran dalam kelas sains, minggu sains, minggu kesedaran alam sekitar, aktiviti sekolah hijau dan program khas. Kajian ini memberi implikasi bahawa aktiviti modul 3R berasaskan tugasan pelajar dapat memberi pengalaman pembelajaran bukan sahaja kepada guru yang menyambung pengajian sahaja, malah pengalaman ini dapat disalurkan kepada murid mereka. Pengajian di peringkat tinggi dapat memberikan peluang pembelajaran di semua peringkat secara meluas

    Integration of Tauhid (Faith) Element in Biology Education

    Tauhidik science is one of the Islamization of Knowledge efforts in the field of education. This effort was initiated by many Islamic scholars to fight against secularism. To implement the elements of faith (Tawhid) in Science Education, Al-Qur\u27an is the ultimate guide. The aim of this concept paper is to describe the elements of faith in biology education. In this concept paper, the definition of Tauhidik Science is specified. Next, the strategy of integration of Tauhidic element in Biology is explained. The concept paper also proposes that the implementation of elements of faith made in more in-depth for each subtopic studied. The implementation of Faith element in Science Education is expected to produce a generation whose life is guided by the Quran and have Ulul Albab thought which means having a deep rooted knowledge and strong belief to Allah s.w.t, thus forming the next generation that brings prosperity to the mankind

    This research is aimed to help students develop their mathematical concept, as well as emphasizing the appropriate use of information technology among Year Three students. The current mathematics curriculum in Year Three primary school in Malaysia was introduced in 2018. This quantitative study used a quasi-experimental method. Thus, this study examines the differences in performance between a controlled group and experimental group from a school in Malaysia. Paired samples test results have proven that the experimental group performed better than the controlled group. It was also found that fun and interactive games can increase students’ understanding and interest towards mathematics. Interactive games can contribute least time to master some mathematical concepts in a fun way. Therefore, the fun and interactive game is a superior instrument that can be utilized by primary students in learning mathematics in order to encourage learning and innovation skills in the 21st century.Esta investigación tiene como objetivo ayudar a los estudiantes a desarrollar su concepto matemático, así como enfatizar el uso apropiado de la tecnología de la información entre los estudiantes de tercer año. El plan de estudios matemático actual en la escuela primaria del tercer año en Malasia se introdujo en 2018. Este estudio cuantitativo utilizó un método cuasi-experimental. Por lo tanto, este estudio examina las diferencias en el rendimiento entre un grupo controlado y un grupo experimental de una escuela en Malasia. Los resultados de las pruebas de muestras emparejadas han demostrado que el grupo experimental se desempeñó mejor que el grupo controlado. También se descubrió que los juegos divertidos e interactivos pueden aumentar la comprensión e interés de los estudiantes hacia las matemáticas. Los juegos interactivos pueden aportar menos tiempo para dominar algunos conceptos matemáticos de una manera divertida. Por lo tanto, el juego divertido e interactivo es un instrumento superior que los estudiantes de primaria pueden utilizar en el aprendizaje de las matemáticas para fomentar las habilidades de aprendizaje e innovación en el siglo XXI

    Science teachers’ perspectives on the integration of the quran in science learning

    The integration of the knowledge in Quran and Science is significant and timely. The truth of Quran contents is proven by the phenomenon of Science. However, Science education in Malaysia which is too similar to Western learning style, focuses more on student achievement in examinations. Therefore, efforts to integrate Science and the Quran do not occur in formal teaching and learning activities in the classroom. Thus, this article discusses secondary school science teachers’ perspectives on the Quran-integrated Science learning approach. This study uses qualitative design methodology by conducting interviews with four Science teachers at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama (Tahfiz Model Ulul Albab) in Negeri Sembilan. Data analysis was performed using Atlas.ti software version 9. Thematic analysis method is used to analyze the data based on a fixed comparison of each study findings. The results of the interviews showed that apart from the Islamic vision of Science teachers who are excited to implement Al-Quran Integrated Science learning, there are 4 main factors that need to be examined namely (i) existing problems in the educational environment, (ii) lack of adequate knowledge and skills , (iii) suggestions on the need for tools to implement the integration of science with the Qur’an and (iv) the expectations of Science teachers on the integration of this revelation knowledge in the teaching of Science subjects. This study is expected to be a source of information to the drafters of the Science and revelation knowledge integrated curriculum which is believed to be able to produce generation of ulul albab students who are balanced in academic and spiritual aspects, especially for use in religious schools and Tahfiz Science

    Creative Teaching STEM Module: High School Students’ Perception

    This study aimed to investigate the impacts of enrolling in the creative teaching module in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education from high school students’ perspectives. This study applied a case study and qualitative research approach involving 26 Grade 11 students and 31 Grade 8 students. The creative teaching-STEM (CT-STEM) module, which comprised various activities related to energy literacy in real-world situations for the community’s well-being, involved outdoor STEM education activities with the assistance of two science teachers. The CT-STEM module was developed based on the directed creative process model by applying four creative teaching strategies: (i) constructivism learning, (ii) discovery inquiry, (iii) problem-based learning, and (iv) project-based learning. The theme of these out-of-classroom activities is sustainability education, focusing on energy sustainability. The results showed that the planned approaches could positively impact and build students’ creativity and create an exciting learning experience. Furthermore, the findings from the open-ended questionnaire instrument, observations, and analysis of the worksheets have shown enhancements in five themes: the development of problem-solving skills with an emphasis on the element of sustainability education, high-level thinking skills, active learning skills, communication skills, and humanity skills. The students also showed an increased interest in STEM as they learned using the CT-STEM module

    STUDENTS' REFLECTION ON GREEN SCHOOL

    Education plays an important role in enhancing sustainable development and improving human capacity in addressing the issues of environment. Environment and development need to be incorporated as a key component in learning fields. Environment and Sustainability Course (GGGR6223) is a course offered to postgraduate students who are taking Science Education at the Faculty of Education, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). This course prepares students with the knowledge, skills and approaches in management and environmental sustainability, especially on renewable and non-renewable resources as well as the problems that exist due to human activities. This study aimed to review the reflections made by the students of Environment and Sustainability Course at the National University of Malaysia on Green School. Data were collected through reflections made by the students upon completion of tasks and lectures related to green school carried out in their school. A total of 26 students' reflections were analyzed. Thematic analysis resulted in five key dimensions: positive feelings, awareness of green schools, understanding of green school's concepts, the role of teachers in instilling awareness about green schools and challenges in its implementation. The analysis demonstrated that the students have been exposed and have proper awareness about green schools. Awareness of green schools and environmental education are expected to form the next generations who are able to appreciate life and the environment

    Development of Islamic Value-based Picture in Biology Learning with the ISI-ARE Model

    The development of Islamic-based learning models and pictures media recently has become the focus of research in Indonesia, especially the integration between the values of science and religion. This study aimed to develop pictures of media based on Islamic values in Biology learning for high school students. The research and development procedures proposed by Borg Gall and ADDIE model proposed by Kurt which had been modified into the ISI-ARE (Investigate, Strategy, Improve, Assessment, Realization, and Estimation) model was used as the research method. The data was collected through investigations and questionnaire validation by four experts (material, media, language, and religion). The investigation questionnaire and a media feasibility response questionnaire were distributed to two experienced biology teachers and 20 tenth-grade students (10 males and 10 females). The results showed that the media, religion, and language experts stated that the developed Islamic-based pictures media was highly feasible to be used with the obtained percentage of 90.30 %, 83.70 %, and 81.50 %. However, the material experts rated the media as feasible (75.00 %) and the teachers and students respectively rated the media as highly feasible with a percentage of 75.40 % and 87.20 %. This study illustrates that the Islamic values-based pictures media can be used as an alternative in biology learning

    Students’ Reflection towards the Integration of Tawhidic Science in the “Pandang Alam” Camp

    The purpose of this study is to observe students’ reflection towards the integration of Tawhidic Science at the program “Kem Pandang Alam”, at Tanjung Tuan Wildlife Reserve and several other locations nearby Tanjung Tuan, Teluk Kemang and Si Rusa, Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan Malaysia. The respondents of this study were 32 students from tahfiz schools and tahfiz science schools (15 boys and 17 girls). These students were exclusively selected candidates from their respective schools. Data were analysed based on constant comparative analysis. The finding reveals that there were seven themes including greatness of God’s knowledge; nature as the source of knowledge, education and lesson; improvement of faith; self-development, the formation of identity, the increase of awareness, and the closer of social relations. The implication of this study is to expose these students the importance of the integration of Tawhidic Science where science and religion are inseparable from everyday life

    MOBILE LEARNING: INNOVATION IN TEACHING AND LEARNING USING TELEGRAM

    Innovation in teaching and learning is always done by the teachers to solve the problems. Teachers could use the latest education tools as their innovation. Attendance and students’ engagement are the problems in a class and it could be overcome by using mobile learning as a teaching approach. In this case, Telegram is a tool for mobile learning. The aim of this study was to explore how Telegrams could be used in teaching and learning process. This study involved a case study approach where 31 students were the participants in the post graduate courses "Science Education and Human Development". Data were collected by Telegram discussion. This study found that several techniques can be carried out using Telegram: attendance, one way discussions, technique 1-2-3 discussion, pictures, drawing, and audio. Students responded that the teaching and learning using Telegram allow them to gain new experience, be more creative, generate spontaneous ideas, provide authentic ideas without the risk of being humiliated and encourage them to be excited as well as passionate with their learning. Compared with normal classes, all students can give ideas and the ideas were honest by themselves.
