The Expression Of Insulin-Like Growth Factors And Their Receptors At Preimplantation Stage In Reproductive Tissue Of Diabetic Mouse [RG580.D5 R148 2007 f rb].
Kami menghipotesis bahawa embrio praimplantasi yang berkembang dalam persekitaran diabetes mengalami kekurangan faktor pertumbuhan tertentu.
We hypothesized that the alteration in the expression of IGFs and their receptors may create an abnormal intrauterine environment thus affect embryos development

The effects of combination behavioural intervention of nutritional education and exercise (combine) on oxidate stress markers in obese subject
Alterations in the levels of oxidative stress and haemostatic markers have
been proposed as one of the mechanisms for obesity-related cardiovascular
disease. This study aims to evaluate the effect of 12-week behavioral lifestyle
modification program on the oxidative stress levels in obese subjects. This is
an interventional prospective study conducted from April 2009 through
December 2010. Thirty four obese adult recruited from the Obesity Clinic,
Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia participated in the 12-week behavioral
lifestyle modification program consisting of diet and exercise interventions.
Body weight, BMI and body fat were significantly reduced after 12-week
interventions. Plasma GPx activity and 4-HNE concentration increased
significantly after 12-week interventions. Other enzymatic antioxidant activities
such as CAT and SOD increased, and GSH:GSSG ratio reduced but the
changes were not statistically significant. Plasma fibrinogen, factor VII, TAFI,
t-PA and PAI-1 levels were significantly decreased and plasma Heparin
Cofactor II level was significantly increased after 12-week intervention. In
conclusion, diet and exercise interventions reduce cardiovascular risk factors
by reducing body fat, increasing enzymatic antioxidant defense and
beneficially altering the levels of haemostatic markers in obese adults
Moving Beyond on Home Country: Developing Global Citizenship Through International Learning in Japan
Globalization causes increasing competition in facing future challenges become more intense. Students as new generation the future need to improve their ability and talents in term of foreign language proficiency, knowledge, intercultural competency to remain viable. Students mobility to abroad as platform to build student's knowledge, skills and character and the experience become more reflective to the workforce needs of today. This paper examine the impact of study abroad program among Malaysian students (N=245) who studying in Japan. Quantitative analysis of the data revealed that strongest influenced study abroad participation that (a) enhanced their tolerance towards people who different culture, (b) enhanced their awareness about cultural difference, (c) influenced their awareness of the importance of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Japan and (d) increased their desire to engage in employment sector organization or International company and enhanced their Japanese language skills. The result gives an insight that study abroad program will give them opportunity to get out from their own culture and society to explore new worlds, build their own identity and competencies, and challenge ourselves to work or living together with people who have different cultural background. Study abroad program will provide first-hand learning experience to students
Enhancement of BDNF Concentration and Restoration of the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal Axis Accompany Reduced Depressive-Like Behaviour in Stressed Ovariectomised Rats Treated with Either Tualang Honey or Estrogen
A possible interaction between glucocorticoids and estrogen-induced increases in brain-derived-neurotrophic factor (BDNF)
expression in enhancing depressive-like behaviour has been documented. Here we evaluated the effects of Tualang honey, a
phytoestrogen, and 1
Zoophilia in a Patient with Frontotemporal Dementia
Objective: A 65-year-old divorced man who presented with a 4-year history of personality and behavioural changes with
inappropriate sexual behaviour was studied.
Result: Cognitive impairment was indicated by low scores in MMSE and RUDAS. Neuropsychological assessment showed
poor melokinetic ability, delayed response, personality change and, poor visual learning and memory signifying frontal lobe with
predominantly right temporal deficits. CT brain showed multifocal cerebellar infarction and old right occipital infarct.
However, brain MRI was not done as the patient could not afford it.
Conclusion: A patient with bvFTD and hypersexuality is at risk of zoophilia if they also have the traditional risk factors of
zoophilia such as low education, residing in a rural area and lack of opportunities to have sex with human partners
The Potential Role of Melatonin on Memory Function: Lessons from Rodent Studies
Pineal melatonin biosynthesis is regulated
by the circadian clock located in the suprachiasmatic
nucleus of the hypothalamus. Melatonin has been
found to modulate the learning and memory process
in human as well as in animals. Endogenous melatonin
modulates the process of newly acquired information
into long-term memory, while melatonin
treatment has been found to reduce memory deficits
in elderly people and in various animal models.
However, the mechanisms mediating the enhancing
effect of melatonin on memory remain elusive. This
review intends to explore the possible mechanisms
by looking at previous data on the effects of melatonin
treatment on memory performance in rodents
The effect of consumers’ interest, information access and spending willingness on halal products trustworthiness / Nor Balkish Zakaria … [et al.]
Halal certification provides assurance to the consumers particularly the Muslims that the ingredients used and the production processes are according to shariah. The urge of attention to this issue departs from the trust of Muslim consumer to the certification process itself as many fake Halal logo certifications were lodged. Although, many recent studies on Halal issues, nevertheless, much left to be explored on the trustworthiness of Halal for consumers with regard to their purchasing decision. Hence, the purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of consumers’ interest, information access and spending willingness towards the trustworthiness on Halal products. Based on a survey of 167 Malaysian Muslim respondents, the results of this study reveal that trust worthiness of Halal is significantly affected by consumers’ interest on Halal products, their spending willingness and their level of education. This study contributes to the extent literature on Halal trustworthiness among related consumers
Melatonin, insomnia and the use of melatonergic drugs
Due to inconsistency among reports on the therapeutic efficacy of melatonin, attention has been focused on the
development of more potent melatonin analogues with prolonged effects. Melatonergic drugs, ramelteon and
agomelatine have been effective in treating either sleep disorders or sleep disturbances associated with depressive
disorders. MT1 and MT2 melatonergic receptor agonist, ramelteon, was found effective in increasing total sleep
time and sleep efficiency, and in reducing sleep latency in patients with insomnia. No reduction in its efficacy was
found even after 6-12 months of continuous use. The mechanism of sleep promoting action of ramelteon is entirely
different from that of conventional hypnotics that are in use today. Ramelteon’s use is not associated with any
adverse effects even after six months to one year after its continuous usage. Another melatonergic drug, agomelatine,
has also been found effective in improving sleep efficiency and quality, and this action of agomelatine is suggested
to be one of the major mechanism by which agomelatine ameliorates depressive symptoms in patients with major
depressive disorders and bipolar disorders
