During a speech opening Chile\u27s 1994 Month of the Sea celebration, President Edurado Frei announced initiatives to enhance Chile\u27s presence on the high seas and to protect marine resources within its national jurisdiction. In so doing, he echoed geopolitical thought of Chilean maritime theorist dating from the 1600s. The initatives stemmed in part from disputed over free fishing and navigation on the high seas, wherein, Frei argued, certain maritime powers were disregarding weaker coastal states\u27 interests

The development of management techniques which are in keeping with the changing environment has been termed management science. Thrall points out that management science has not yet reached a stage in which standardization or freezing of educational programs is desirable. Further, he states that we should explore new educational ideas, keeping in mind that many management scientists will become managers. Management science may be in the rut described by Gordon and Howell. They assert that those businessmen and educators who fail to keep pace with change are forced to plod in a rut they dug long ago. For them it is enough to tell students what business did yesterday and the day before. The review of literature for this investigation revealed that little research has been done to ascertain whether college business administration programs are keeping pace with the changing business environment. Most of the available research deals with the problem on a national basis. What is needed is research on a local institution level to determine whether the the management program offered by a given institution meets the needs of the organizations hiring graduates of that program

A medium-speed general purpose digital computer (IBM 1620 Model II) was programmed to solve symbolic Laplace transformation problems. Although the applied mathematician and modern engineer has many uses for the symbolic solution of a problem, the potential of symbolic manipulation by a computer has not yet been sufficiently developed to help them because of many problems. This paper discusses the program and based on the author’s experience with it’s [sic] performance, clarifies the position of several of these difficulties and reaches some conclusions concerning computer solution of such problems --Abstract, page ii
