Chaos control in random Boolean networks by reducing mean damage percolation rate
Chaos control in Random Boolean networks is implemented by freezing part of
the network to drive it from chaotic to ordered phase. However, controlled
nodes are only viewed as passive blocks to prevent perturbation spread. This
paper proposes a new control method in which controlled nodes can exert an
active impact on the network. Controlled nodes and frozen values are
deliberately selected according to the information of connection and Boolean
functions. Simulation results show that the number of nodes needed to achieve
control is largely reduced compared to previous method. Theoretical analysis is
also given to estimate the least fraction of nodes needed to achieve control.Comment: 10 pages, 2 figure
Ieee access special section editorial: Cloud and big data-based next-generation cognitive radio networks
In cognitive radio networks (CRN), secondary users (SUs) are required to detect the presence of the licensed users, known as primary users (PUs), and to find spectrum holes for opportunistic spectrum access without causing harmful interference to PUs. However, due to complicated data processing, non-real-Time information exchange and limited memory, SUs often suffer from imperfect sensing and unreliable spectrum access. Cloud computing can solve this problem by allowing the data to be stored and processed in a shared environment. Furthermore, the information from a massive number of SUs allows for more comprehensive information exchanges to assist the
Thermodynamical Metrics and Black Hole Phase Transitions
An important phase transition in black hole thermodynamics is associated with
the divergence of the specific heat with fixed charge and angular momenta, yet
one can demonstrate that neither Ruppeiner's entropy metric nor Weinhold's
energy metric reveals this phase transition. In this paper, we introduce a new
thermodynamical metric based on the Hessian matrix of several free energy. We
demonstrate, by studying various charged and rotating black holes, that the
divergence of the specific heat corresponds to the curvature singularity of
this new metric. We further investigate metrics on all thermodynamical
potentials generated by Legendre transformations and study correspondences
between curvature singularities and phase transition signals. We show in
general that for a system with n-pairs of intensive/extensive variables, all
thermodynamical potential metrics can be embedded into a flat (n,n)-dimensional
space. We also generalize the Ruppeiner metrics and they are all conformal to
the metrics constructed from the relevant thermodynamical potentials.Comment: Latex, 25 pages, reference added, typos corrected, English polished

The potential use of service-oriented infrastructure framework to enable transparent vertical scalability of cloud computing infrastructure
Cloud computing technology has become familiar to most Internet users. Subsequently, there has been an increased growth in the use of cloud computing, including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). To ensure that IaaS can easily meet the growing demand, IaaS providers usually increase the capacity of their facilities in a vertical IaaS increase capability and the capacity for local IaaS amenities such as increasing the number of servers, storage and network bandwidth. However, at the same time, horizontal scalability is sometimes not enough and requires additional strategies to ensure that the large number of IaaS service requests can be met. Therefore, strategies requiring horizontal scalability are more complex than the vertical scalability strategies because they involve the interaction of more than one facility at different service centers. To reduce the complexity of the implementation of the horizontal scalability of the IaaS infrastructures, the use of a technology service oriented infrastructure is recommended to ensure that the interaction between two or more different service centers can be done more simply and easily even though it is likely to involve a wide range of communication technologies and different cloud computing management. This is because the service oriented infrastructure acts as a middle man that translates and processes interactions and protocols of different cloud computing infrastructures without the modification of the complex to ensure horizontal scalability can be run easily and smoothly. This paper presents the potential of using a service-oriented infrastructure framework to enable transparent vertical scalability of cloud computing infrastructures by adapting three projects in this research: SLA@SOI consortium, Open Cloud Computing Interface (OCCI), and OpenStack
Cosmological evolution of interacting phantom (quintessence) model in Loop Quantum Gravity
The dynamics of interacting dark energy model in loop quantum cosmology (LQC)
is studied in this paper. The dark energy has a constant equation of state
and interacts with dark matter through a form . We
find for quintessence model () the cosmological evolution in LQC is the
same as that in classical Einstein cosmology; whereas for phantom dark energy
(), although there are the same critical points in LQC and classical
Einstein cosmology, loop quantum effect reduces significantly the parameter
spacetime () required by stability. If parameters and satisfy
the conditions that the critical points are existent and stable, the universe
will enter an era dominated by dark energy and dark matter with a constant
energy ratio between them, and accelerate forever; otherwise it will enter an
oscillatory regime. Comparing our results with the observations we find at
confidence level the universe will accelerate forever.Comment: 15 pages, 8 figures, to appear in JCA
A cross-sectional study on levels of second-hand smoke in restaurants and bars in five cities in China
OBJECTIVES: To assess indoor second-hand smoke (SHS) exposure in restaurants and bars via PM(2.5) (fine particles 2.5 ÎŒm in diameter and smaller) level measurements in five cities in China. METHODS: The study was conducted from July to September in 2007 in Beijing, Xi'an, Wuhan, Kunming and Guiyang. Portable aerosol monitors were used to measure PM(2.5) concentrations in 404 restaurants and bars. The occupant density and the active smoker density were calculated for each venue sampled. RESULTS: Among the 404 surveyed venues, 23 had complete smoking bans, 9 had partial smoking bans and 313 (77.5%) were observed to have allowed smoking during sampling. The geometric mean of indoor PM(2.5) levels in venues with smoking observed was 208 ÎŒg/m(3) and 99 ÎŒg/m(3) in venues without observed smoking. When outdoor PM(2.5) levels were adjusted, indoor PM(2.5) levels in venues with smoking observed were consistently significantly higher than in venues without smoking observed (F=80.49, p<0.001). Indoor PM(2.5) levels were positively correlated with outdoor PM(2.5) levels (partial rho=0.37 p<0.001) and active smoker density (partial rho=0.34, p<0.001). CONCLUSIONS: Consistent with findings in other countries, PM(2.5) levels in smoking places are significantly higher than those in smoke-free places and are strongly related to the number and density of active smokers. These findings document the high levels of SHS in hospitality venues in China and point to the urgent need for comprehensive smoke-free laws in China to protect the public from SHS hazards, as called for in Article 8 of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, which was ratified by China in 2005
Small anisotropy of the lower critical field and -wave two-gap feature in single crystal LiFeAs
The in- and out-of-plane lower critical fields and magnetic penetration
depths for LiFeAs were examined. The anisotropy ratio is
smaller than the expected theoretical value, and increased slightly with
increasing temperature from 0.6 to . This small degree of anisotropy
was numerically confirmed by considering electron correlation effect. The
temperature dependence of the penetration depths followed a power
law() below 0.3, with 3.5 for both and
. Based on theoretical studies of iron-based superconductors, these
results suggest that the superconductivity of LiFeAs can be represented by an
extended -wave due to weak impurity scattering effect. And the
magnitudes of the two gaps were also evaluted by fitting the superfluid density
for both the in- and out-of-plane to the two-gap model. The estimated values
for the two gaps are consistent with the results of angle resolved
photoemission spectroscopy and specific heat experiments.Comment: 10 pages, 5 figure
Puzzles in physics

The existence of global weak solutions for a weakly dissipative Camassa-Holm equation in H1(R)
The existence of global weak solutions to the Cauchy problem for a weakly dissipative Camassa-Holm equation is established in the space C([0,â)ĂR)nLâ([0,â);H1(R)) under the assumption that the initial value u 0 (x) only belongs to the space H 1 (R) . The limit of viscous approximations, a one-sided super bound estimate and a space-time higher-norm estimate for the equation are established to prove the existence of the global weak solution
