Laser Cooling of Trapped Fermi Gases deeply below the Fermi Temperature
We study the collective Raman cooling of a polarized trapped Fermi gas in the
Festina Lente regime, when the heating effects associated with photon
reabsorptions are suppressed. We predict that by adjusting the spontaneous
Raman emission rates and using appropriately designed anharmonic traps,
temperatures of the order of 2.7% of the Fermi temperature can be achieved in

The FAST Galactic Plane Pulsar Snapshot Survey: IV. Timing results of 30 FAST-GPPS discovered pulsars
Timing observations are crucial for determining the basic parameters of newly
discovered pulsars. Using the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio
Telescope (FAST) with the L-band 19-beam receiver covering the frequency range
of 1.0 -- 1.5 GHz, the FAST Galactic Plane Pulsar Snapshot (GPPS) survey has
discovered more than 600 faint pulsars with flux densities of only a few or a
few tens of Jy at 1.25 GHz. To obtain accurate position, spin parameters,
dispersion measure, and to calculate derived parameters such as characteristic
age and surface magnetic fields, we collect available FAST pulsar data obtained
either through targeted following-up observations or coincidental survey
observations with one of the 19 beams of the receiver. From these data we get
the time of arrival (TOA) measurements for 30 newly discovered pulsars as well
as 13 known pulsars. We demonstrate that the TOA measurements acquired by the
FAST from any beams of the receiver in any observation mode (e.g., the tracking
mode or the snapshot mode) can be combined together to get timing solutions. We
update the ephemeris of 13 previously known pulsars and obtain the first
phase-coherent timing results for 30 isolated pulsars discovered in the FAST
GPPS survey. Notably, PSR J1904+0853 is an isolated millisecond pulsar, PSR
J1906+0757 is a disrupted recycled pulsar, and PSR J1856+0211 has a long period
of 9.89 s that can constrain pulsar death lines. Based on these timing
solutions, all available FAST data have been added together to get the best

Observation and study of the decay
We report the observation and study of the decay
using events
collected with the BESIII detector. Its branching fraction, including all
possible intermediate states, is measured to be
. We also report evidence for a structure,
denoted as , in the mass spectrum in the GeV/
region. Using two decay modes of the meson ( and
), a simultaneous fit to the mass spectra is
performed. Assuming the quantum numbers of the to be , its
significance is found to be 4.4, with a mass and width of MeV/ and MeV, respectively, and a
product branching fraction
. Alternatively, assuming , the
significance is 3.8, with a mass and width of MeV/ and MeV, respectively, and a product
branching fraction
. The angular distribution of
is studied and the two assumptions of the
cannot be clearly distinguished due to the limited statistics. In all

First observations of hadrons
Based on events collected with
the BESIII detector, five hadronic decays are searched for via process
. Three of them, ,
, and are observed for the first
time, with statistical significances of 7.4, , and
9.1, and branching fractions of ,
, and ,
respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second
systematic. No significant signal is observed for the other two decay modes,
and the corresponding upper limits of the branching fractions are determined to

Measurements of Weak Decay Asymmetries of , , , and
Using production from a 567 pb
data sample collected by BESIII at 4.6 GeV, a full angular analysis is carried
out simultaneously on the four decay modes of , , , and . For the first time, the
transverse polarization is studied in unpolarized
collisions, where a non-zero effect is observed with a statistical significance
of 2.1. The decay asymmetry parameters of the weak
hadronic decays into , , and
are measured to be ,
,
, and
, respectively. In comparison with
previous results, the measurements for the and
modes are consistent but with improved precision, while the parameters for the
and modes are measured for the first time
Search for the decay
We search for radiative decays into a weakly interacting neutral
particle, namely an invisible particle, using the produced through the
process in a data sample of
decays collected by the BESIII detector
at BEPCII. No significant signal is observed. Using a modified frequentist
method, upper limits on the branching fractions are set under different
assumptions of invisible particle masses up to 1.2 . The upper limit corresponding to an invisible particle with zero mass
is 7.0 at the 90\% confidence level
Predictors for neonatal death in the rural areas of Shaanxi Province of Northwestern China: a cross-sectional study
Background
Almost all (99%) neonatal deaths arise in low-income and middle-income countries. Approximately 450 new-born children die every hour, which is mainly from preventable causes. There has been increased recognition of the need for these countries to implement public health interventions that specifically target neonatal deaths. The purpose of this paper is to identify the predictors of neonatal death in Type 4 rural (poorest) counties in Shaanxi Province of northwestern China.
Methods
A cross-sectional study was conducted in Shaanxi Province, China. A single-stage survey design was identified to estimate standard errors. Because of concern about the complex sample design, the data were analysed using multivariate logistic regression analysis. Socioeconomic and maternal health service utilization factors were added into the model.
Results
During the study period, a total of 4750 women who delivered in the past three years were randomly selected for interview in the five counties. There were 4880 live births and 54 neonatal deaths identified. In the multiple logistic regression, the odds of neonatal death was significantly higher for multiparous women (OR = 2.77; 95% CI: 1.34, 5.70) and women who did not receive antennal health care in the first trimester of pregnancy (OR = 2.49; 95% CI: 1.41, 4.40). Women who gave birth in a county-level hospital (OR = 0.18; 95% CI: 0.04, 0.86) and had junior high school or higher education level (OR = 0.20; 95% CI: 0.05, 0.84) were significantly protected from neonatal death.
Conclusions
Public health interventions directed at reducing neonatal death should address the socioeconomic factors and maternal health service utilization, which significantly influence neonatal mortality in rural China. Multipara, low educational level of the women, availability of prenatal visits in the first trimester of pregnancy and hospital delivery should be considered when planning the interventions to reduce the neonatal mortality in rural areas
