Some new decay estimates for (2+1)(2+1)-dimensional degenerate oscillatory integral operators

In this paper, we consider the (2+1)−(2+1)-dimensional oscillatory integral operators with cubic homogeneous polynomial phases, which are degenerate in the sense of \cite{Tan06}. We improve the previously known L2→L2L^2\to L^2 decay rate to 3/83/8 and also establish a sharp L2→L6L^2\to L^6 decay estimate based on fractional integration method.Comment: This new version adds some missed argument and correct some typo

TOWARDS SMART MANUFACTURING: COMPLIANCE MONITORING FOR COMPUTATIONAL AUDITING

    Get PDF
Manufacturers operating in international markets are faced with complex rules and regulations that must be complied with in order to trade successfully. A general phenomenon among international enterprises is that, when they are conducting business across borders, their internal information systems fail to interface well with systems or platforms built specially for compliance reports. This leads to inventory mismatch and results in other types of problems, such as delay of goods delivery or incorrect duty payment. One of the main difficulties in fully integrating information systems arises from the highly flexible and volatile nature of manufacturing processes, which would need highly customizable and adaptive information systems. Currently, there is a lack of systematic method to monitor compliance within flexible multinational manufacturing processes and supply chains. Moreover, improper operations could hamper compliance even normal business processes. In order to have well integrated systems as well as timely detection and mitigation of compliance faults, data processing tools are needed to identify and diagnose inconsistencies in manufacturing and inventory management. This research aims to innovate accounting information systems by designing a framework with the application of process mining and engineering techniques in computational auditing. An in-depth case study is conducted for research validation

Short-Term Rental Regulation and House Sharing Behavior: Evidence From Airbnb.com

The controversial short-term rental (STR) industry and the relevant STR regulation have been in the spotlight in recent years. Despite all the pros and cons of regulating the STR industry, yet it is unclear what the real effects of the STR regulation are. This study seeks to shed light on the questions regarding how the city STR regulation and should be conceived as well as what the outcomes of the regulation implementation are. We employ a comprehensive data set assembled from multiple resources to analyze the effects of the STR regulation from different geographic levels. Indeed, STR regulation turns out to be effective in improving the STR business. Registration requirement would encourage people from affluent neighborhoods to list their properties online. And internal requirements of the listed properties are critical in preventing listings from those non-affluent neighborhoods. At the clause level, the clauses vary in their effects in different types of neighborhoods. The clause specifically requiring listing to achieve certain standards would be more efficient in crowding out the listings with low quality from the STR market. STR regulation would be able to raise the quality of the listings online and standardize the listing process. Consequently, STR regulation would reduce the information-based uncertainties exist in the online STR mediatory platforms. Overall, the results suggest that STR regulation helps release the “lemon problems” in the STR market by encouraging listings with good quality while crowd out the “bad apples” from the platforms by adjusting the STR business in different types of neighborhoods

Fault Detection and Diagnosis for Compliance Monitoring in International Supply Chains

Currently international supply chains are facing risks concerning faults in compliance, such as altering shipping documentations, fictitious inventory, and inter-company manipulations. In this paper a method to detect and diagnose fault scenarios regarding customs compliance in supply chains is proposed. This method forms part of a general approach called model-based auditing, which is based on a normative meta-model of the movement of money and goods or services. The modeling framework is proposed on compliance monitoring of supply chains with focus on information systems and compliance reporting tools. The innovation lies in the application and mapping of modeling techniques from dynamical systems engineering to business process analysis for audit and supervision purposes. Specifically, the application domain is where money, goods as well as information are transferred between international supply chain partners. A case study of a leading company in electronics manufacturing applying the model is analyzed

Pre-configured Error Pattern Ordered Statistics Decoding for CRC-Polar Codes

In this paper, we propose a pre-configured error pattern ordered statistics decoding (PEPOSD) algorithm and discuss its application to short cyclic redundancy check (CRC)-polar codes. Unlike the traditional OSD that changes the most reliable independent symbols, we regard the decoding process as testing the error patterns, like guessing random additive noise decoding (GRAND). Also, the pre-configurator referred from ordered reliability bits (ORB) GRAND can better control the range and testing order of EPs. Offline-online structure can accelerate the decoding process. Additionally, we also introduce two orders to optimize the search order for testing EPs. Compared with CRC-aided OSD and list decoding, PEPOSD can achieve a better trade-off between accuracy and complexity

An Encoder-Decoder Based Approach for Anomaly Detection with Application in Additive Manufacturing

    Get PDF
We present a novel unsupervised deep learning approach that utilizes an encoder-decoder architecture for detecting anomalies in sequential sensor data collected during industrial manufacturing. Our approach is designed to not only detect whether there exists an anomaly at a given time step, but also to predict what will happen next in the (sequential) process. We demonstrate our approach on a dataset collected from a real-world Additive Manufacturing (AM) testbed. The dataset contains infrared (IR) images collected under both normal conditions and synthetic anomalies. We show that our encoder-decoder model is able to identify the injected anomalies in a modern AM manufacturing process in an unsupervised fashion. In addition, our approach also gives hints about the temperature non-uniformity of the testbed during manufacturing, which was not previously known prior to the experiment

Studies on the therapeutic effects of three TCM methods on steroid-induced osteonecrosis of femoral head

Purpose: To determine the therapeutic effects of kidney yang-tonifying, blood-activating and phlegmeliminating methods on steroid-induced osteonecrosis of femoral head (SONFH), and their mechanisms of action. Methods: A rabbit model of SONFH was established. Six rabbit groups were used: control, SONFH (given normal saline); tongluo shenggu group, kidney-tonifying group, blood-activating group, and phlegm--eliminating group, which received tongluo shenggu capsule (0.28 g/kg/day), yougui yin (YGY, 2.52 g/kg/day), taohong siwu decoction (TSD, 2.38 g/kg/day) and linggui zhugan decoction (LZD,1.54 g/kg/day), respectively, for 8 weeks. The following serum indices were assayed on the 2nd, 4th and 8th weeks: total cholesterol, triglycerides, thromboxane B2 (TXB2), 6-keto-PGF1α, osteoprotegerin (OPG), and receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-Β ligand (RANKL). At the end of the 8th week, mRNA levels of OPG, BMP-2 and VEGF were assayed using real-time fluorescent quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RTF-qPCR).Results: Serum OPG in the kidney-tonifying group was increased, while its RANKL was decreased on the 2nd week, but these parameters, along with mRNA of OPG and BMP-2, reached normal levels at the 8th week (p <0.05). The TXB2 of blood-activating group was decreased, while its 6-keto-PGF1 level was increased at the 2nd week, but both of them attained normal levels at the 8th week, along with VEGF mRNA. Serum total cholesterol, triglycerides and TXB2 in the phlegm-eliminating group were decreased, while its 6-keto-PGF1α was increased at the 2nd week, but the levels of serum total cholesterol and triglycerides were normalized at the 8th week (p <0.05). Histological examination showed increases in bone trabeculae and bone marrow cells, while the proliferation of fat cells was decreased in kidney-tonifying, blood-activating and phlegm-eliminating groups. Conclusion: These findings suggest that the therapeutic effects of the three different TCM methods on SONFH involve different mechanisms.
