Because of rapid economic expansion, China, the USA, and India have become the largest energy producers and sources of CO2 emissions in the world. They burned over 45% of global fuels in 2016. Meanwhile, the developing strategies of 24 polluted states to decrease fossil energy consumption without additional economic output. This paper explores the effect of world top polluted countries’ CO2 emission, their GDP and production of electricity by potential indicators and identifies the basic factors that contribute to changes in an environment where petroleum, natural gas, coal, nuclear, biomass, and other renewable energy and hydroelectric sources are examined with GDP per capita. We estimate our data for the period from 1968 to 2017 and use the GLM model. The results show that more production of electricity is causing abnormal CO2 emissions. The Granger causality test shows that there is a unidirectional relationship between energy consumption and economic advancement. Also, there is a short-run bidirectional causality that exists among the energy indicators. We find a unilateral causality between energy consumption and economic growth. Therefore, the consumption of energy might be conductive of 24 (polluted) countries and better economic development; the consumption of energy may be failsafe and guaranteed, while we should limit the resources of countries

The notion of Industry 4.0 significantly changed the way firms’ operate and has influenced everyday life. The rapid digitalization and emergent trend of information technology (IT) transformation in firms and ample investment in IT by Ghanaian government stimulated the importance of IT-based risks and its associated controls. In addition, technology enabled the auditing and IT-related audit methods have significance when carrying out audit tasks. This study aims to investigate the effects of IT governess effectiveness on audit technology performance in the public sector of Ghana. This study used closed-ended to collect data. An online survey admitted to record 186 responses. The findings of the study stated that top management support, IT support services, and IT committee have a positive and statistically significant influence on audit technology performance. The proposed model of the study explained 65.1% variance in the audit technology performance. The study proposes that public sector companies must strengthen IT governance by developing an appropriate IT committee and IT support services for the auditors. Besides, firms should clearly elucidate their priorities and requirements associated with technology-based training in their IT policies, and action plans to improve the utilization of audit technology. Get PDF
Using a sample of 10 selected banks annual reports covering 2010-2015, this study examines the relationship between corporate governance and performance in Cameroon banking sector. Based on the econometric model, the result indicates that improved performance of the banking sector is not dependent on increasing the number of executive directors and board composition. It shows further that when there are more external board members; performance of banks tends to be worse. The study concludes a need for increase in board size and decrease in board composition as measured by the ratio of outside directors to the total number of directors in order to increase the bank performance

The focus of this study was to assess the effect of organizational ethical behavior on the financial performance of firms in Ghana. Researchers have expressed concerns about the ethical behavior of firms in Ghana with regards to its effect on financial performance. The findings of this study will add to the literature, from which those in the field of academia can continually refer. The return on assets, as an indicator for the financial performance of firms, was adopted as the dependent variable. Independent variables were good ethical behavior (GEB), corruption reduction (C), and nepotism reduction (N). A cross-sectional survey design was followed for primary data and firms’ financial records were sources of secondary data. Thirty (30) corporate firms registered on the stock market were selected for the study. A multiple regression analysis was conducted and findings presented in Tables and Figures. Results showed that firms’ adherence to ethical principles of conducting business stand the chance of increasing their financial performance up to 45.0, 38.4, and 43.7 % by unit increases in GEB, and decreases in C, and N respectively. All independent variables had positive correlations with the financial performance of firms studied (GEB, 0.349; C, -0.503; N, -0.680). On firms’ financial performance, the ROA of firms, according to findings is positively and strongly correlated to their adherence to ethical business standards. Based on these findings, the study recommends that corporate firms pay more attention to practices that enhance good ethical behavior through the implementation of ethics policies, and reduce or eradicate nepotism to increase their chances of performing better financially. In addition, firms should ensure gender equality and equity, employee training on ethical standards of work, and encouragement of ethical leadership. The Finite Element Analysis of the Deflection of the Crankshaft of Rotary Compressor

    Get PDF
The deflection of the crankshaft which transfers the power of motor to the pump of the compressor directly affects the vibration, noises and wear problems in the rotary compressor, therefore, with the requirement of higher reliability, it is important to obtain it exactly in compressor design. Various forces that the crankshaft suffers were calculated by theoretical analysis in the operation process of the compressor. And based on the finite element method (FEM), the deflection of the crankshaft was obtained by simulation in the rotary compressor. And then the measurements were performed concerning the orbit of the top dead centre of the crankshaft with non-contacting displacement sensors in the compressor. In comparison with the tests, the validity of the calculation method was verified. It was found that the results of calculation were good agreement with the tests’. In addition, several factors which affect the deflection of the crankshaft were analyzed with the FEM, and the influences of flange height, shaft diameter, mechanical air gap in the motor, rotor weight on the deflection were found distinctly, which as a primary theoretical basis is provided for the compressor design
