Coupling between Rydberg states and Landau levels of electrons trapped on liquid helium

    Get PDF
We investigate the coupling between Rydberg states of electrons trapped on a liquid Helium surface and Landau levels induced by a perpendicular magnetic field. We show that this realises a prototype quantum system equivalent to an atom in a cavity, where their coupling strength can be tuned by a parallel magnetic field. We determine experimentally the renormalisation of the atomic transition energies induced by the coupling to the cavity, which can be seen as an analogue of the Lamb shift. When the coupling is sufficiently strong the transition between the ground and first excited Rydberg states splits into two resonances corresponding to dressed states with vacuum and one photon in the cavity. Our results are in quantitative agreement with the energy shifts predicted by the effective atom in a cavity model where all parameters are known with high accuracy

Site-selective measurement of coupled spin pairs in an organic semiconductor

From organic electronics to biological systems, understanding the role of intermolecular interactions between spin pairs is a key challenge. Here we show how such pairs can be selectively addressed with combined spin and optical sensitivity. We demonstrate this for bound pairs of spin-triplet excitations formed by singlet fission, with direct applicability across a wide range of synthetic and biological systems. We show that the site sensitivity of exchange coupling allows distinct triplet pairs to be resonantly addressed at different magnetic fields, tuning them between optically bright singlet (S=0) and dark triplet quintet (S=1,2) configurations: This induces narrow holes in a broad optical emission spectrum, uncovering exchange-specific luminescence. Using fields up to 60 T, we identify three distinct triplet-pair sites, with exchange couplings varying over an order of magnitude (0.3–5 meV), each with its own luminescence spectrum, coexisting in a single material. Our results reveal how site selectivity can be achieved for organic spin pairs in a broad range of systems

The article refers to Ivan Vtorov, the famous bibliophile of the Volga region, to his passion for reading, to the way how he assembled his library. The article describes the activity of son of I.A. Vtorov - Nikolay Ivanovich, who granted the book collection of his father to the city of Kazan for the organization of public library; and he continued to send books for twenty years and contributed to the opening of the library. The article reveals the significance of this book collection, that served as the basis of library stocks of the Kazan City Public Library - nowadays the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan - and played an important role in the formation and development of the Library. There are considered chronological boundaries and characteristics of the unique composition of the book collection of I.A. Vtorov. There are traced the main stages of study of the private library of I.A. Vtorov, and there are marked perspectives of the further research work.

Clinical Measures of Bulbar Dysfunction in ALS

    Get PDF
Bulbar impairment represents a hallmark feature of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) that significantly impacts survival and quality of life. Speech and swallowing dysfunction are key contributors to the clinical heterogeneity of ALS and require well-timed and carefully coordinated interventions. The accurate clinical, radiological and electrophysiological assessment of bulbar dysfunction in ALS is one of the most multidisciplinary aspects of ALS care, requiring expert input from speech-language pathologists (SLPs), neurologists, otolaryngologists, augmentative alternative communication (AAC) specialists, dieticians, and electrophysiologists—each with their own evaluation strategies and assessment tools. The need to systematically evaluate the comparative advantages and drawbacks of various bulbar assessment instruments and to develop integrated assessment protocols is increasingly recognized. In this review, we provide a comprehensive appraisal of the most commonly utilized clinical tools for assessing and monitoring bulbar dysfunction in ALS based on the COnsensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement INstruments (COSMIN) evaluation framework. Despite a plethora of assessment tools, considerable geographical differences exist in bulbar assessment practices and individual instruments exhibit considerable limitations. The gaps identified in the literature offer unique opportunities for the optimization of existing and development of new tools both for clinical and research applications. The multicenter validation and standardization of these instruments will be essential for guideline development and best practice recommendations

Abstract— the article deals with issues of the policy in the sphere of protection of a Supply-Chain management’s rights and legitimate interests in the health centres. The issues of protection of the rights of Supply-Chain management in the field of health care revealed. In today's global and national economy, businesses are increasingly relying on outsourcing some of their activities and processes. Therefore, more and more companies at the Supply-Chain level, in specific networks, operate and compete with their suppliers and service providers. This process of outsourcing and the growing importance of supply chains has its consequences in the working conditions and health and safety of workers of supply companies and contractors. There are two main networks of Supply-Chain or relationships between companies and members of their supply chain: the main network (a company and suppliers of its specific goods and materials) and the secondary network (a company and its contractors and subcontractors special services such as activities Maintenance, construction, cleaning or catering This report provides an overview, analysis, conclusions and recommendations on how to upgrade health centers through the above Supply-Chain networks

The article presents characteristics of the book “Milestones in the History of the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan” [1], dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the National Library of Tatarstan, founded in 1865 as public library of Kazan. The book consisting of two volumes includes archival documents, articles from the periodicals, documents of Kazan City Duma, and annual reports. These documents reveal the initial stage of formation and development of the Kazan municipal public library - 1837-1915, beginning from the idea of opening the city public library and its implementation in life, up to formation of the library, determination of its place in cultural, scientific, educational life of society. The scientific reference apparatus of the book consists of the author index, historical and chronological indexes, bibliography, references, and notes.
