    The purpose of this survey was to determine nurse administrators and hospital directors’ perspectives about nurses’ abilities in performing specific medical practices in hospitals in Tokushima Prefecture. The nurse administrators and hospital directors of all hospitals (113 hospitals) in Tokushima Prefecture were invited to respond to a survey questionnaire by mail posted during the period between February and March of 2015. Responses were received from 46 nurse administrators (response rate, 41%) and 38 hospital directors (response rate, 34%). The obtained data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the narrative descriptions summarized. Majority of responses from nurse administrators and hospital directors were accepting that nurses have responsibilities for administering medicines such as tranquilizers, anti-anxiety and anticonvulsant drugs. This result was not affected by the size of the hospital, in which fifty four percent (54%) of respondents were from hospitals with less than 100 beds. In Japan, only hospitals with 100 beds or more may have procedures involving highly invasive treatments. Because of this, many of the respondents answered “not applicable” to statements in the questionnaire which were related to invasive treatments. Recruitment of nurses, strategies to cope with accidents and education curriculum were important concerns of nurse administrators and hospital directors which remain to be answered in future investigations

    Análise da interface adesiva entre pinos de fibra de vidro e dentina intrarradicular submetida à irrigação com diferentes agentes condicionantes

    The purpose of this study was to evaluate the interaction of conditioning agents and resin cements in the luting procedure of glass fiber posts in different thirds of intra-root dentin, through the bond strength test, mechanical properties and sealing ability of the adhesive interface. Ninety single-rooted premolares human teeth were used in this study. After endodontic filling and mechanical preparation of root canal, teeth were divided into five groups according to the conditioning agents (distilled water, 5.25% sodium hypochlorite, 25% polyacrylic acid, 2% chlorhexidine and 23 ppm silver nanoparticles dispersion). Three adhesive cementation technique were adopted: Group 1: ScotchbondTM Universal self-etching adhesive + RelyX ARC resin cement, Group 2: RelyX U200 self-adhesive resin cement, Group 3: Maxcem Elite self-adhesive resin cement. The mechanical properties (Martens hardness and elastic modulus) of the adhesive interface structures (resin cement and underlying dentin) were measured in a DUH-211 digital ultra-microhardness tester (Shimadzu), under load of 5mN in different areas of intra-root dentin (cervical, middle and apical). Push-out bond strength was measured in a universal testing machine (Emic DL 3000). Sealing ability was quantified with a fluid-filtration system (Flodec) during 5 min was immediately measured. The data of bond strength and mechanical properties were subjected to statistical tests of normality and analyzed by ANOVA for repeated measures and Fisher's test (α=0.05). The results showed that the mechanical properties of Martens hardness and elastic modulus of resin cements and the underlying dentine can be influenced by conditioning agents, as well as the depth of intraradicular dentin. The same phenomenon was observed in the push-out bond strength test. The 23ppm silver nanoparticle dispersion...O propósito deste estudo foi avaliar a interação das soluções irrigantes e tipos de cimentos resinosos na cimentação de pinos de fibra de vidro nos diferentes terços da dentina intrarradicular, através do teste de resistência de união, avaliação das propriedades mecânicas e capacidade de selamento da interface adesiva. Noventa dentes pré-molares humanos unirradiculares foram utilizados neste estudo. Após obturação endodôntica e preparo mecânico dos condutos radiculares, os dentes foram divididos em 5 grupos de acordo com os agentes condicionantes (água destilada, hipoclorito de sódio 5,25%, ácido poliacrílico 25%, clorexidina 2%, dispersão de nanopartículas de prata à 23 ppm) e subdivididos em 3 grupos experimentais (n=6), de acordo com a técnica adesiva adotada para cimentação de pinos de fibra de vidro: Grupo SBU: adesivo autocondicionante ScotchbondTM Universal + cimento resinoso convencional RelyX ARC; Grupo U200: cimento resinoso autoadesivo RelyX U200; Grupo MCE: cimento resinoso autoadesivo Maxcem Elite. As propriedades mecânicas de dureza e módulo de elasticidade das estruturas da interface adesiva (cimento resinoso e dentina subjacente) foram mensuradas em ultramicrodurômetro digital DUH-211 (Shimadzu), sob carga de 5mN nos diferentes terços da dentina intrarradicular (cervical, médio e apical). A resistência de união foi mensurada pelo teste de push-out em máquina de ensaio universal (Emic DL 3000). A capacidade de selamento foi quantificada através de um sistema de infiltração de fluido (Flodec) durante 5 minutos. Os dados de resistência de união, propriedades mecânicas e capacidade de selamento foram submetidos a testes estatísticos de normalidade e analisados pela ANOVA para medidas repetidas e teste de Fisher (α = 0,05).     Multiple gingival recessions may cause mainly dentinary sensibility and aesthetic alterations. The subepithelial graft is a mucogingival technique which can be used to treat multiple gingival recessions. In this case report the Erbium YAG laser was applied to promote radicular surface decontamination, an important step to reach reinsertion of the gingival tissues on exposed radicular surface.Las recesiones gingivales múltiples, pueden provocar sensibilidad dentinaria y alteraciones estéticas principalmente, lo que hace que el paciente busque tratamiento periodontal. El injerto subepitelial es una técnica mucogingival que puede ser utilizada para solucionar las recesiones múltiples. En este caso clínico se utilizó laser de Erbium YAG para descontaminar la raíz, un paso importante en la técnica del injerto subepitelial para alcanzar reinserción de los tejidos gingivales en las raíces expuestas.Recessões gengivais múltiplas podem causar principalmente sensibilidade dentinaria e alterações estéticas que fazem o paciente buscar tratamento periodontal. O enxerto subepitelial é uma técnica mucogengival que pode ser aplicada para a resolução das recessões múltiplas.     An alternative maneuver to treat gingival recession

    This article reports a clinical case in which was applied autologous bone graft associated with subepithelial connective tis- sue graft, harvested by gingivectomy procedure with technical modifications to increase gingival graft extension, also to be used as guided tissue regeneration, to treat a single gingival recession. After 1 year and 2 months of follow-up, the cover- age of the recession was 4.0 mm, which corresponded to the gain of attached keratinized gingival tissue. An increase in the gingival tissue thickness was observed, without significant probing depth. The procedures applied to treat this case may be biologically and clinically useful to treat gingival recession

    Necrotizing ulcerative periodontitis is associated with bacteria and predisposing risk factors. The treatment is centered in elimination and/or control of the bacteria and predisposing risk factors. However the disease acute phase could induce sequelae as periodontal tissue destruction which may be treated by periodontal surgical procedures.La peridontitis ulcerada necrosante tiene un factor que causan la enfermedad relacionado a la acción de las bacterias y predispone a factores de riesgo. Su tratamiento se basa en la eliminación y/o control de los agentes que causan la enfermedad, pero por provocar secuelas tales como perdida de tejido peridontal, puede existir la necesidad de cirugias peridontales para intentar recuperar tejidos perdidos durante la etapa crítica de la enfermedad.A periodontite ulcerativa necrosante tem fator etiológico relacionado à ação de bactérias e fatores predisponentes de risco. Seu tratamento é baseado na eliminação e/ou controle dos agentes etiológicos, mas por provocar sequelas como perdas de tecidos periodontais, pode haver a necessidade de cirurgias periodontais que visem tentar recuperar tecidos perdidos durante a fase aguda da doença
