Short-wavelength stability analysis of thin vortex rings

    Get PDF
The linear stability of thin vortex rings are studied by short-wavelength stability analysis. The modified Hill–Schrödinger equation for vortex rings, which incorporates curvature effect, is derived. It is used to evaluate growth rates analytically. The growth rates are also evaluated by numerical calculation and they agree well with analytical values for small which is the ratio of core radius to ring radius. Two types of vortex rings are considered: Kelvin's vortex ring and a Gaussian vortex ring. For Kelvin's vortex ring the maximum first-order growth rate is found to be 1.65/2.56. For the Gaussian vortex ring the first-order growth rate is larg

Minimization of Arakelov K-energy for many cases

We prove that for various polarized varieties over Q\overline{\mathbb{Q}}, which broadly includes K-trivial case, K-ample case, Fano case, minimal models, certain classes of fibrations, certain metrized ``minimal-like" models minimizes the Arakelov theoretic analogue of the Mabuchi K-energy, as conjectured in [Od15]. This is an Arakelov theoretic analogue of [H22b].Comment: 8 page

    Shell model for rotating turbulence

    Get PDF
A modified shell model for rotating turbulence is proposed. The effect of rotation is introduced by a randomized linear term. Randomization is shown to be important in correctly modeling the rotation effect. Numerical simulation shows that the exponent of the energy spectrum in the inertial range changes from –5/3 to –2 as rotation rate increases. The mechanism behind this change is explained by weak turbulence theory and supported by numerical results

Synthesis of (+)-boronolide and (+)-deacetylboronolide using Pd-catalyzed carbonylation and lactonization

    Get PDF
(+)-Boronolide and (+)-deacetylboronolide were synthesized using Pd-catalyzed CO insertion and lactonization as the key step. As to the C-13 NMR data of (+)-deacetylboronolide, the assignment at C-6 position should be revised.ArticleTETRAHEDRON LETTERS. 55(17):2822-2824 (2014)journal articl
