Generalized - Model
By parameterizing the t-j model we present a new electron correlation model
with one free parameter for high-temperature superconductivity. This model is
of symmetry. The energy spectrums are shown to be modulated by
the free parameter in the model. The solution and symmetric structures of the
Hilbert space, as well as the Bethe ansatz approach are discussed for special
cases.Comment: 13 page, Latex, to appear in J. Phys.
Research Program towards Observation of Neutrino-Nucleus Coherent Scattering
The article describes the research program pursued by the TEXONO
Collaboration towards an experiment to observe coherent scattering between
neutrinos and the nucleus at the power reactor. The motivations of studying
this process are surveyed. In particular, a threshold of 100-200 eV has been
achieved with an ultra-low-energy germanium detector prototype. This detection
capability at low energy can also be adapted to conduct searches of Cold Dark
Matter in the low-mass region as well as to enhance the sensitivities in the
study of neutrino magnetic moments.Comment: 5 pages, 8 figures ; Proceedings of TAUP-2005 Workshop, Spain, 2005.

Production and decay of the neutral top-pion in high energy colliders
We study the production and decay of the neutral top-pion
predicted by topcolor-assisted technicolor(TC2) theory. Our results show that,
except the dominant decay modes , and , the
can also decay into and modes. It can
be significantly produced at high energy collider(LC) experiments
via the processes and . We further calculate the production cross sections of the
processes and . We find that the signatures of the neutral top-pion
can be detected via these processes.Comment: Latex file, 13 Pages, 6 eps figures. to be published in Phys.Rev.
Single top or bottom production associated with a scalar in \gamma p collision as a probe of topcolor-assisted technicolor
In the framework of the topcolor-assisted technicolor (TC2) models, we study
the productions of a single top or bottom quark associated with a scalar in
\gamma-p collision, which proceed via the subprocesses c\gamma -> t\pi_t^0,
c\gamma -> t h_t^0 and c\gamma -> b\pi^+_t mediated by the anomalous top or
bottom coupling tc\pi_t^0, tch_t^0 and bc\pi_t^+. These productions, while
extremely suppressed in the Standard Model, are found to be significantly
enhanced in the large part of the TC2 parameter space, especially the
production via c\gamma -> b\pi^+ can have a cross section of 100 fb, which may
be accessible and allow for a test of the TC2 models.Comment: 13 pages, 4 figures, comments and references adde
A New Algorithm for Protein Design
We apply a new approach to the reverse protein folding problem. Our method
uses a minimization function in the design process which is different from the
energy function used for folding. For a lattice model, we show that this new
approach produces sequences that are likely to fold into desired structures.
Our method is a significant improvement over previous attempts which used the
energy function for designing sequences.Comment: 10 pages latex 2.09 no figures. Use uufiles to decod
Constraints on Non-Commutative Physics Scale with Neutrino-Electron Scattering
Neutrino-electron scatterings () are purely leptonic processes with
robust Standard Model (SM) predictions. Their measurements can therefore
provide constraints to physics beyond SM. Non-commutative (NC) field theories
modify space-time commutation relations, and allow neutrino electromagnetic
couplings at the tree level. Their contribution to neutrino-electron scattering
cross-section was derived. Constraints were placed on the NC scale parameter
from experiments with reactor and accelerator
neutrinos. The most stringent limit of at 95%
confidence level improves over the direct bounds from collider experiments.Comment: 6 pages, 2 figures, 2 tables, V2: minor revisions to match published

Coherency in Neutrino-Nucleus Elastic Scattering
Neutrino-nucleus elastic scattering provides a unique laboratory to study the
quantum mechanical coherency effects in electroweak interactions, towards which
several experimental programs are being actively pursued. We report results of
our quantitative studies on the transitions towards decoherency. A parameter
() is identified to describe the degree of coherency, and its
variations with incoming neutrino energy, detector threshold and target nucleus
are studied. The ranges of which can be probed with realistic neutrino
experiments are derived, indicating complementarity between projects with
different sources and targets. Uncertainties in nuclear physics and in
would constrain sensitivities in probing physics beyond the standard model. The
maximum neutrino energies corresponding to >0.95 are derived.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures, 3 tables. V2 -- Published Versio
Exclusive Decays and CP Violation in the General two-Higgs-doublet Model
We calculate all the branching ratios and direct CP violations of
decays in a most general two-Higgs-doublet model with spontaneous CP violation.
As the model has rich CP-violating sources, it is shown that the new physics
effects to direct CP violations and branching ratios in some channels can be
significant when adopting the generalized factorization approach to evaluate
the hadronic matrix elements, which provides good signals for probing new
physics beyond the SM in the future B experiments.Comment: 21 page
Protein design in a lattice model of hydrophobic and polar amino acids
A general strategy is described for finding which amino acid sequences have
native states in a desired conformation (inverse design). The approach is used
to design sequences of 48 hydrophobic and polar aminoacids on three-dimensional
lattice structures. Previous studies employing a sequence-space Monte-Carlo
technique resulted in the successful design of one sequence in ten attempts.
The present work also entails the exploration of conformations that compete
significantly with the target structure for being its ground state. The design
procedure is successful in all the ten cases.Comment: RevTeX, 12 pages, 1 figur
