Ray solvable linear systems and ray S2NS matrices

    Get PDF
AbstractRay solvable linear systems and ray S2NS matrices are complex generalizations of the sign solvable linear systems and S2NS matrices. We use the determinantal ray unique matrices (instead of ray nonsingular matrices) as a generalization of SNS matrices, to generalize some fundamental results of S2NS matrices from the real case to complex case, such as the graph theoretical characterization, the inverse ray patterns and the upper bound of the number of nonzero entries of S2NS matrices. The well known characterization of the sign solvable linear systems (in terms of the L-matrices and S∗ matrices) is also generalized to ray solvable linear systems, and the relationships between the ray S∗-matrices and real S∗-matrices are investigated. Some examples are also given to illustrate that some results, such as the characterization of the sign inconsistent linear systems, do not carry over to the complex case

The title compound, C20H19NO, is a substructure of CP-640186, a potent inhibitor of mammalian acetyl-coenzyme A carboxylases. In the crystal structure, the amide group forms a dihedral angle of 87.0 (1)° with the plane of the anthracene unit and the piperidine ring adopts a chair conformation. Molecules are arranged into layers parallel to (100) and adjacent anthracene units within layers form dihedral angles of 13.2 (1)°. C—H⋯O interactions from the piperidine rings to the C=O group of the amide are observed between layers

Olfactory ensheathing cells (OECs) are a type of 10 glia from the mammalian olfactory system, with neuro- 11 protective and regenerative properties. b-Amyloid peptides 12 are a major component of the senile plaques characteristic 13 of the Alzheimer brain. The amyloid beta (Ab) precursor 14 protein is cleaved to amyloid peptides, and Ab25–35 is 15 regarded to be the functional domain of Ab, responsible for 16 its neurotoxic properties. It has been reported that Ab25–35 17 triggers reactive oxygen species (ROS)-mediated oxidative 18 damage, altering the structure and function of mitochon- 19 dria, leading to the activation of the mitochondrial intrinsic 20 apoptotic pathway. Our goal is to investigate the effects of 21 OECs on the toxicity of aggregated Ab25–35, in human 22 neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells. For such purpose, SH- 23 SY5Y cells were incubated with Ab25–35 and OEC-conditioned medium (OECCM). OECCM promoted the 24 cell viability and reduced the apoptosis, and decreased the 25 intracellular ROS and the lipid peroxidation. In the pres- 26 ence of OECCM, mRNA and protein levels of antioxidant 27 enzymes (SOD1 and SOD2) were upregulated. Concomi- 28 tantly, OECCM decreased mRNA and the protein expres- 29 sion levels of cytochrome c, caspase-9, caspase-3, and Bax 30 in SH-SY5Y cells, and increased mRNA and the protein 31 expression level of Bcl-2. However, OECCM did not alter 32 intracellular Ca 33 2? concentration in SH-SY5Y cells. Taken together, our data suggest that OECCM ameliorates 34 Ab25–35-induced oxidative damage in neuroblastoma SH- 35 SY5Y cells by inhibiting the mitochondrial intrinsic path- 36 way. These data provide new insights into the functional 37 actions of OECCM on oxidative stress-induced cell 38 damage.pre-print2138 K

Know about the work engagement of the primary and middle school headmaster and its influence factors to provide a basis to improve it. Use the self-leadership questionnaires and work engagement scales to conduct a questionnaire survey among 220 primary and middle school headmasters. The self-leadership ability and work engagement of the primary and middle school headmaster are both above the average level; except that there is no significant correlation between self-award or self-punishment dimension and contribution or between self-award and concentration, there exist significant correlations between all the dimensions of self-leadership and those of work engagement of the primary and middle school headmaster; It is discovered with the multiple stepwise regression analysis that the prediction of the two factors goal setting and job inner award entered in the regression equation for work engagement reaches 16.6%. A clear job objective, emphasis on the value of the job itself, neglect of the disappointing side in the job and to think about its positive meaning increase the self-leadership ability of the primary and middle school headmaster and finally improve his or her work engagement as well

Background: Even with drug-eluting stents, the risk of in-stent restenosis (ISR) remains high. The goal of this study was to investigate the use of an endothelial progenitor cell (EPC) capture stent plus regional EPC transplantation to reduce the ISR rate. Methods: Endothelial progenitor cell capture stents were fabricated using fibrin gel and anti-CD34 plus anti-VEGFR-2 dual antibodies. Twenty male New Zealand white rabbits established as an atherosclerotic model were randomly divided into two groups: group 1 (n = 10), in which EPC capture stents were deployed into the right iliac artery; and group 2 (n = 10), in which sirolimus-eluting stents were placed. In both groups, EPCs were transplanted into target vessels beyond the stents, with outflow blocked. Radiologic-pathologic correlation outcomes were reviewed after 2 months.  Results: The technical success rate of EPC capture stent placement plus EPC transplantation was 100%. The ISR rate in group 1 was lower than in group 2 (1/10 vs. 4/10; p > 0.05). Minimal luminal diameters were larger in group 1 than in group 2 (computed tomographic angiography, 1.85 ± 0.15 mm vs. 1.50 ± 0.20 mm; duplex ultrasound, 1.90 ± 0.10 mm vs. 1.70 ± 0.30 mm; p > 0.05). Transplanted EPCs were tracked positively only in group 1. Pathologic analysis demonstrated neointimal hyperplasia thickness of 0.21 ± 0.09 mm in group 1 vs. 0.11 ± 0.07 mm in group 2 (p < 0.05).  Conclusion: Endothelial progenitor cell capture stent placement plus local EPC transplant decreases the ISR rate through thrombosis reduction rather than through neointimal hyperplasia inhibition

Probing vortical structures in heavy-ion collisions at RHIC-BES energies through helicity polarization

We investigate the hydrodynamic helicity polarization of Λ\Lambda hyperons, defined as the projection of the spin polarization vector along the directions of particle momenta, at RHIC-BES energies by utilizing the relativistic (3+1)D CLVisc hydrodynamics framework with SMASH initial conditions. As opposed to local spin polarization at high energy collisions, our hydrodynamic simulations demonstrate that the helicity polarization induced by the kinetic vorticity dominates over other contributions at intermediate and low collision energies. Our findings provide an opportunity to probe the fine structure of local kinetic vorticity as a function of azimuthal angle at intermediate and low collision energies by mapping our predictions to the future measurements in experiments.Comment: 8 pages, 3 figure

Internal Fixation of Intertrochanteric Hip Fractures: A Clinical Comparison of Two Implant Designs

    Get PDF
Objective. To compare two internal fixation devices clinically in stabilisation of intertrochanteric femur fractures. Methods. Eighty-seven patients were randomised upon their admission to the hospital using a sealed envelope method. Forty-five were treated with proximal femur nail antirotation (PFNA) and 42 with reverse less invasive stabilisation system (LISS). The perioperative data were recorded and compared in relation to fracture type. Results. In each type of fractures, no significant differences were found with respect to the blood loss, the quality of reduction, the time to bony healing, and the Harris hip score between the 2 groups. The mean duration of surgery was significantly longer in reverse LISS group than in PFNA group. Conclusion. Both the PFNA and the reversed LISS are effective in the treatment of different types of intertrochanteric femur fractures. PFNA is superior to reverse LISS in terms of surgical time, weight-bearing, and perhaps fluoroscopy time
