Polyhedra with few 3-cuts are hamiltonian

In 1956, Tutte showed that every planar 4-connected graph is hamiltonian. In this article, we will generalize this result and prove that polyhedra with at most three 3-cuts are hamiltonian. In 2002 Jackson and Yu have shown this result for the subclass of triangulations. We also prove that polyhedra with at most four 3-cuts have a hamiltonian path. It is well known that for each k≥6k \ge 6 non-hamiltonian polyhedra with kk 3-cuts exist. We give computational results on lower bounds on the order of a possible non-hamiltonian polyhedron for the remaining open cases of polyhedra with four or five 3-cuts.Comment: 21 pages; changed titl

The dynamical behavior of f(T)f(T) theory

Recently, a new model obtained from generalizing teleparallel gravity, named f(T)f(T) theory, is proposed to explain the present cosmic accelerating expansion with no need of dark energy. In this paper, we analyze the dynamical property of this theory. For a concrete power law model, we obtain that the dynamical system has a stable de Sitter phase along with an unstable radiation dominated phase and an unstable matter dominated one. We show that the Universe can evolve from a radiation dominated era to a matter dominated one, and finally enter an exponential expansion phase.Comment: 10 pages, 1 figure; accepted by PL

On the problem of phase transitions in lysozyme crystals

We present experimental evidence of the fact that lysozyme crystals, which are grown from their mother solution and exist in it, dissolve on heating above T=307 K. We argue that the anomaly in the light scattering recently observed at the temperature T=307 K and identified in the reference [Svanidze A. V. et al. 2006. JETP Lett. 84: 551] as a structural crystalline phase transition in the single lysozyme crystals, in fact, corresponds to a temperature limit of the crystal existence.Comment: 6 pages, 1 figur
