Effects of progesterone and estradiol-17β on the growth and the differentiation of the mouse blastocyst during the pre-implantation and implantation stages was investigated inducing to delayed implantation by ovariectomy. When the ovariectomy was followed by daily injection of 1 mg progesterone (Group II), the area of blastocyst on the 6th day of pregnancy was significantly larger than that on the 4th day of pregnancy. When a single dose of estradiol-17β (0.5μg) was injected to ovariectomized and progesterone treated mice on the 4th or 6th day of pregnancy (Group III-A and III-B), the implantation was observed between 24 and 30 hrs. after the injection. In addition the area of blastocyst in Group III-A was significantly larger than that in Group II after 24 hrs. estradiol-17β injection and was as large as those in intact group (Group I) and Group II after 6 hrs. estradiol-1719 injection. The area of blastocyst in Group III-B was also significantly larger than that in Group II on and after 18 hrs. estradiol-17β injection. These results indicate that progesterone and estradiol-17β are important for the growth and the differentiation of delayed-implanting mouse blastocyst and they induce the implantation.Article信州大学農学部紀要 18(2): 133-144(1981)departmental bulletin pape

OPTIMAL PATHWAY IN INNER LANE CURVING DURING MAXIMAL EFFORT SPRINT SPEED SKATING

    Get PDF
The purpose of this study was to investigate experimentally the optimal pathway in the inner lane curving during maximal effort sprint skating with reference to changes in skating speed and crossover cycle motion for three different types of pathway by using wide-range three-dimensional motion analysis. This study suggests that the optimal pathway to enter the first inner curve might be to pass through the center of a 4m-wide lane or across a slightly more outer position at the inflection point of the skating oval. Taking the recommended pathway, skaters would improve their crossover technique, especially for the left stroke, and their final lap time could be faster in spite of the disadvantage of the roundabout way

Analyzing the Number of Varieties in Frequently Found Flows

Abnormal traffic that causes various problems on the Internet, such as P2P flows, DDoS attacks, and Internet worms, is increasing; therefore, the importance of methods that identify and control abnormal traffic is also increasing. Though the application of frequent-itemset-mining techniques is a promising way to analyze Internet traffic, the huge amount of data on the Internet prevents such techniques from being effective. To overcome this problem, we have developed a simple frequent-itemset-mining method that uses only a small amount of memory but is effective even with the large volumes of data associated with broadband Internet traffic. Using our method also involves analyzing the number of distinct elements in the itemsets found, which helps identify abnormal traffic. We used a cache-based implementation of our method to analyze actual data on the Internet and demonstrated that such an implementation can be used to provide on-line analysis of data while using only a small amount of memory

COMPARATIVE STUDIES ON PHYSICOCHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF THE MINERAL SOILS IN THE MAJOR SAGO-PALM (METROXYLON SAGU ROTTB.)-GROWING AREAS OF EASTERN INDONESIA

Physicochemical properties of the mineral soils, under major sago-palm-growing areas in  the eastern  Indonesia around Sentani near Jayapura, Papua  Province (hereafter Jayapura);  Kairatu,  Seram Island, Maluku Province (Seram);  Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi Province (Kendari); were studied and compared. The soil samples of 0-15 cm and 15-30 cm depth were collected from every site, respectively, from September 2005 to January 2008. The results revealed that the average of physicochemical properties of the soils from 0-30 cm depth  in  the sago-palm-growing areas varied depending on  the site.  Soil bulk densities were  averagely  higher  in Seram (1.35 g cm-3)  than those  in Kendari (0.98 g cm-3) and Jayapura (0.89 g cm-3). Soil textures around Jayapura were dominated by silty loam. While in Seram soil texture was dominated by silty loam and loam,  and around Kendari  it was dominated by  sandy loam,  loam  and silty clay. The averages of soil pHs were slightly acid (6.4) in Jayapura, acid in both Seram (5.5) and Kendari (4.9). Total carbons (total-C) in Kendari were higher (30.5 g kg-1) than those in Jayapura (27.2 g kg-1) and Seram (9.9 g kg-1). Based on the averages of nutrient contents including the CEC and the total-C, the sago-palm-growing areas showed the same trend in the order of Kendari > Jayapura > Seram in the CEC, total-N and total-C. On the other hand, the exchangeable-K, and the available-P were showed the trend in the order of Jayapura > Seram > Kendari. Variations of soil fertility such as the exchangeable-K, CEC, and total-N among the soils collected sites in each area are higher in the order of Kendari > Jayapura > Seram. And also we tried to discuss about the relation between the soil physicochemical properties and the reported growth parameters or starch productivity of sago palms grown on the same researched areas

First Total Synthesis of (+/-)-6 '-Methoxyretrojusticidin B Using Regiocontrolled Benzannulation: Structural Inconsistency with Procumphthalide A and Its Revision to 5 '-Methoxyretrochinensin

    Get PDF
We achieved the first total synthesis of a novel (+/-)-6'-methoxyretrojusticidin B, which was proposed as procumphthalide A, utilizing regiocontrolled benzannulation of an aryl(aryl')-2,2-dichlorocyclopropylmethanol as the key step. (1)H NMR spectral data suggested that the structure of the synthesized product, 6'-methoxyretrojusticidin B, was inconsistent with that of natural procumphthalide A. A computational study of the rotational barrier rationally supports the existence of a rigid chiral axis in 6'-methoxyretrojusticidin B. The revised structural elucidation of natural procumphthalide A was concluded to be 5'-methoxyretrochinensin.ArticleSYNLETT. 2010(15):2275-2278 (2010)journal articl

Development of Bioactivity and Pull-out Torque Control Technology on Ti Implant Surface and its Application for Cold Thread Rolled Bone Screw

    Get PDF
AbstractThe influence of cold thread rolling conditions and a production method of titania (TiO2) films on surface bioactivity and pull-out torque of a titanium bone screw was investigated. The bone screw with micro surface roughness distribution was formed by cold thread rolling with a pair of parallel dies. The die shape and surface roughness distribution were changed to the 3 grades. The TiO2 films were coated on the surface of the bone screw using anodizing in aqueous solutions (hydro-coating). We introduced the rolled bone screws into tibia of rats for two weeks and examined the effects of the combinations of the surface morphology and the TiO2 film on osteoconductivity in an in-vivo experiment. As the results, it is found that we could control the bioactivity and pull-out torque by controlling the surface roughness at the bottom of the screw root
