An Approximate PML Applied to Cylindrical and Spherical Coordinate Sectors

This letter proposes an approximate perfectly matched layer (PML) that is applicable to cylindrical and spherical coordinate sectors. The proposed PML is based on complex coordinate stretching, which enables the truncation of finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) grids, not only at the ρ- and r-coordinates but also at the φ- and θ-coordinates. Diseño arquitectónico conceptual, aplicación y evaluación de criterios bioclimáticos y sustentables para el Concurso Internacional de Arquitectura para Estudiantes, Escuela Internacional – Museo de Flamenco

Especialización en Diseño.El presente trabajo se realizó para la participación en el Concurso Internacional de Arquitectura para Estudiantes que tuvo como tema la Escuela Internacional–Museo de Flamenco ubicado en la ciudad de Jerez de la Frontera en la provincia de Cádiz en España. El contenido es el proceso de diseño que se llevó a cabo que, además de hacer un análisis de los requerimientos y el programa arquitectónico, se tomó como base la metodología de diseño bioclimático del Dr. Víctor Fuentes que contempla todos los aspectos en cuanto al análisis de sitio: el estudio del medio natural, el medio artificial y el medio socio-cultural; y el análisis del usuario del cual se toman en cuenta el bienestar, confort, necesidades y requerimientos. Se presentan las pruebas experimentales que se llevaron a cabo en el laboratorio de diseño bioclimático que son: maquetas en el heliodón, para el aprovechamiento del sombreado y la iluminación natural; el túnel de viento, para verificar el comportamiento del viento en la edificación y realizar los ajustes para no crear situaciones de disconfort y el aprovechamiento de la ventilación natural. También se presenta el análisis de asoleamiento y pruebas de dispositivos de control solar con modelos tridimensionales en programas computacionales como 3d Studio Max y Ecotect de Autodesk. Se muestran los resultados del análisis matemático del comportamiento térmico de los sistemas constructivos de la edificación que es el Balance Térmico y la norma mexicana NOM-008-ENE. También el estudio del confort acústico, en cuanto cómo afecta el ruido ambiental a los espacios interiores y el diseño acústico del auditorio. Finalmente, la aplicación de eco tecnologías para la sustentabilidad energética y aprovechamiento de la energía solar; el tratamiento y el uso eficiente del agua; dispositivos para el aprovechamiento de la iluminación natural y equipos eficientes de iluminación artificial; el empleo de vegetación como aislante térmico y acústico además de sus efectos psicológicos y ecológicos para el ambiente. Se realizó la participación en el concurso con el diseño de un cartel que contemplara todos los aspectos, se envió de manera electrónica.This document was made to participate in the Students International Contest of Architecture with the theme of ISMOF (International School Museum of Flamenco) located in the city of Jerez de la Frontera in the province of Cadiz, Spain. The content is the design process which made, furthermore to make an analysis of the requirements and the architectural program, it was taken like the methodological basis of bioclimatic design by the Dr. Víctor Fuentes, which contemplate all the aspects about the site analysis: the environment, the artificial environment and the socio cultural environment; and the user analysis which are taken into consideration the welfare, comfort, needs and requirements. Presents the results of the experimental tests which were carried out in the bioclimatic design laboratory, they are: models in the heliodon, for the advantage of the shades and the natural lighting; the wind tunnel, to test the wind behavior in the building and to make adjustments to avoid discomfort situations and to take advantage of the natural wind. It presents too the solar analysis and the tests of solar control devices with three dimensional models with software like Autodesk’s 3d Studio Max and Ecotect. It shows the results of the mathematical analysis of the thermal behavior of building construction systems which is the Thermal Balance and the Mexican norm NOM-008-ENE. Also the acoustic comfort studies, how the environment noise affects the interior spaces and the acoustic design of the auditorium. Finally the application of eco technologies for the energy sustainability and the solar energy behavior; water treatment and efficient use; use of natural lighting devices and efficient artificial lighting equipment; the use of vegetation like a thermal and acoustic insulation also the psychological and ecological effects for the environment. Ecotecnología para el uso sustentable y ahorro de agua de uso sanitario en la vivienda urbana

Maestría en Diseño.La Ciudad de México se encuentra en una crisis hídrica histórica y de acuerdo a la Comisión Nacional del Agua, si continúan los mismos niveles de desperdicio y consumo, en pocos años no se va a poder abastecer de agua a la ciudad con los recursos actuales. El agua es un recurso renovable, pero la falta de precipitación pluvial en los últimos tiempos y la sobre explotación de los mantos freáticos para cubrir las necesidades de la ciudad con una población en constante crecimiento, aumento de demanda de vivienda y de densidad de población, hace insuficiente el abastecimiento del agua potable de manera equitativa. A pesar de que las autoridades promueven la cultura del agua, muchos habitantes continúan sin estar conscientes de la realidad y son contrastantes los niveles de uso del agua en distintas zonas de la ciudad. Aunque aumentaron las tarifas del suministro de agua hasta un 620% en las cuadras consideradas de nivel alto de acuerdo al Índice de Desarrollo Económico, el costo sigue sin ser un factor determinante que promueva la reducción del consumo. Es necesaria la concientización en todos los sectores de la sociedad. En la vivienda el mayor consumo de agua es en el uso sanitario y en el lavado de ropa. Se busca incentivar en los créditos de nuevos desarrollos de vivienda y en créditos para remodelación y mejoramiento de viviendas existentes la sustentabilidad por medio de la promoción del uso de ecotecnologías que reducen el consumo de agua, pero se necesitaría que se promoviera de la misma manera en las viviendas existentes. Por ello, se propone el diseño de una ecotecnología que de manera integral, innovadora y estética, se pueda instalar de manera sencilla a cualquier disposición de cuarto de baño de las viviendas habitadas sin modificar las instalaciones previas; así como, su configuración para proyectos nuevos integrándose a la construcción. Con opciones para que pueda satisfacer las necesidades en todos los niveles socioeconómicos, que permita además del uso reducido y eficiente, el reaprovechamiento del agua pre utilizada en el lavado de manos y en la regadera para emplearla en la descarga del inodoro. Con esta propuesta, dependiendo del número de usuarios y hábitos, se podría obtener un ahorro de agua hasta del 50% del consumo en el uso sanitario

MEASUREMENT OF ANTIOXIDANT POWER OF MOUTHWASHES INDICATED IN STOMATITIS

ABSTRACTObjective: Hospital formulations containing allopurinol and rebamipide are used in the prophylactic and therapeutic management of stomatitis,owing to their antioxidant powers. The objective of this study was to measure the antioxidant powers of Zyloric® tablets (allopurinol), Mucosta®tablets (rebamipide), different hospital formulations indicated in the management of stomatitis (allopurinol and rebamipide mouthwashes), andAzulene® 0.4% for Gargle (sodium azulene sulfonate).Methods: We measured the antioxidant powers of Zyloric® and Mucosta® tablets, all hospital formulations indicated in the management of stomatitis(allopurinol and rebamipide mouthwashes), and the widely used Azulene® 0.4% for Gargle by employing the biological antioxidant potential test. Wecompared the efficacy of each of these drugs in the management of stomatitis.Results: Azulene® 0.4% for Gargle was found to have stronger antioxidant power than Zyloric® (100 mg) and Mucosta® (100 mg) tablets dissolved inwater. The antioxidant power of the solvent used in hospital formulations was similar to that of the prepared hospital formulation. Antioxidant powerof the drugs themselves was not observed in both the allopurinol and rebamipide mouthwashes.Conclusion: The antioxidant power of the drugs was not observed in both the allopurinol and rebamipide mouthwashes; therefore, hospitalformulations used as antioxidants were found to be less effective in the treatment of stomatitis. Are Two z~6 Quasars Gravitationally Lensed ?

Several high-z (z > 5.7) quasars have been found in the course of Sloan Digital Sky Survey. The presence of such very high-z quasars is expected to give constraints on early structure formation. On one hand, it is suggested that these most luminous objects at high redshift are biased toward the highly magnified objects by gravitational lensing. To clarify the effect of gravitational lensing on the high-z quasars, we began the imaging survey of intervening lensing galaxies. Indeed our previous optical image showed that SDSSp J104433.04+012502.2 at z=5.74 is gravitationally magnified by a factor 2. In this paper, we report our new optical imaging of other two high-z quasars, SDSSp J103027.10+052455.0 at z=6.28 and SDSSp J130608.26+035626.3 at z=5.99. Since we find neither intervening galaxy nor counter image with i^{\prime} < 25.4-25.8 around each quasar, we conclude that they are not strongly magnified regardless that a lens galaxy is dusty.Comment: 10 pages, 8 figures, Accepted for PAS
