Lessons from Recent Measurements of D-\bar D Mixing

An impressive progress in measurements of the D-\bar D mixing parameters has been made in recent years. We explore the implications of these measurements to models of new physics, especially in view of recent upper bounds on the amount of CP violation. We update the constraints on non-renormalizable four-quark operators. We show that the experiments are close to probing minimally flavor violating models with large tan beta. The data challenge models with a scale of order TeV where the flavor violation in the down sector is suppressed by alignment and, in particular, certain classes of supersymmetric models and of warped extra dimension models.Comment: 20 pages, 1 figure. Batako is a building material to replace brick, which is composed of sand, portland cement, and water. This type of research is an experimental study in the form of compressive strength testing with the addition of glass powder. We are planning a mixture of brick making materials with a ratio of 1: 6 cement and sand. Making the test object size and external appearance and testing the absorption capacity using a mortar specimen measuring 5 x 5 x 5 cm. Variations in adding glass powder by reducing the amount of sand starting from 0%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25% of the weight of the sand. Testing of the mechanical properties of the brick was carried out at the age of 7, 14, and 28 days for the compressive strength test of the brick, and 28 days for the absorption test of the brick. The compressive strength of the concrete blocks increases with age. From the test, it was concluded that the most optimum mixture was the concrete block with a mixture concentration of 25%, namely 58.00 kg / cm² for the results of the concrete block compressive strength test and 11.19 grams for the brick absorption test.

Selective oxidation of 4-amino-2-methyl-5,10-dioxo-1,5,10,10a-tetrahydrobenzo[g]-quinoline-3-carbonitrile (1) with selenium dioxide provided, 4-amino-2-formyl-5,10-dioxo-1,5,10,10a-tetrahydrobenzo[g]quinoline-3-carbonitrile (2). The one-pot reaction of compound 2 with ethyl cyanoacetate and thiourea in ethanol yielded 4-amino-2-(5-cyano-6-oxo-2-thioxo-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyrimidin-4-yl)-5,10-dioxo-1,5,10,10a-tetrahydrobenzo[g]-quinoline-3-carbonitrile (3). The cycloaddition reaction of chloroacetic acid with compound 3 yielded 7-(4-amino-3-cyano-5,10-dioxo-1,5,10,10a-tetrahydrobenzo-[g]quinolin-2-yl)-3,5-dioxo-3,5-dihydro-2H-thiazolo[3,2-a]pyrimidine-6-carbonitrile (4). Moreover, Ehrlich-Sachs condensation reaction of compound 4 with the aromatic nitroso compounds 5a-c gave the corresponding new Schiff bases 6a-c. Staudinger's ketene-imine cycloaddition reaction of compounds 6a-c with chloroacetyl chloride afforded the corresponding spiro[chloroazetidinethiazolopyrimidine] derivatives, 7a-c. On the otherhand, cycoladdition reaction of thioglycolic acid with Schiff bases 6a-c yielded the corresponding spiro[thiazolidinethiazolopyrimidine] derivatives, 8a-c. Structures of the new compounds were elucidated by compatible analytical and spectroscopic (IR, 1H NMR and MS) measurements. Moreover, the reaction mechanisms that account for formation of the synthesized compounds have been discussed

ABSTRACT Methanolic extracts of 13 commercially available citrus spp., peels and tissues growing in Iran were investigated for their antioxidant activity by DPPH method. IC 50 for antioxidant activity ranged from 0.6-3.8 mg ml -1 . Total phenolic content of the citrus spp. samples (based on folin Ciocalteu method) varied from 66.5 to 396.8 mg gallic acid equivalent/g of extract and flavonoids content (based on colorimetric AlCl3 method) varied from 0.3 to 31.1 mg quercetin equivalent/g of extract. There were no correlation between the total phenolic and/ or flavonoids contents and antioxidant activity in tissues and/or peels

Effect of microbial transglutaminase on gelling properties of kiddi shrimp (Parapenaeopsis stylifera) mince

The properties of kiddi shrimp (Parapenaeopsis stylifera) gel added with different levels of microbial transglutaminase (MTGase) (0.6, 1, 1.4 and 1.8 units/g) were studied. Most textural parameters of the gels improved by adding MTGase espacially at higher levels (1.8 and 1.4).The expressible moisture and trichloroacetic acid content declined with the increase in MTGase content. MTGase espacially at higher levels was effective in the color of the gels so that it increased L* and decreased a*andb* value. SDS-PAGE study revealed that myosin heavy chain underwent polymerization to a higher extent in the presence of MTGase. Microstructure of gels added with 1.8 units of MTGase had more ordered fibrillar structure compared with those of gels without MTGase. Therefore it could be concluded that at MTGase play an important role in improving the gel properties of kiddi shrimp mince

Implications of the CP asymmetry in semileptonic B decay

Recent experimental searches for ASLA_{SL}, the CP asymmetry in semileptonic B decay, have reached an accuracy of order one percent. Consequently, they give meaningful constraints on new physics. We find that cancellations between the Standard Model (SM) and new physics contributions to B0Bˉ0B^0 - \bar B^0 mixing cannot be as strong as was allowed prior to these measurements. The predictions for this asymmetry within the SM and within models of minimal flavor violation (MFV) are below the reach of present and near future measurements. Including order mc2/mb2m_c^2/m_b^2 and ΛQCD/mb\Lambda_{QCD}/m_b corrections we obtain the SM prediction: 1.3×103<ASL<0.5×103-1.3 \times 10^{-3} < A_{SL} < -0.5 \times 10^{-3}. Future measurements can exclude not only the SM, but MFV as well, if the sign of the asymmetry is opposite to the SM or if it is same-sign but much enhanced. We also comment on the CP asymmetry in semileptonic BsB_s decay, and update the range of the angle βs\beta_s in the SM: 0.026<sin2βs<0.0480.026 < \sin2\beta_s < 0.048.Comment: 16 pages, a sign typo in eq.(11) fixed, to appear in Phys. Rev.
