Purpose: We developed a Japanese version of the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire for Children and Adolescents (ERQ-CA) and examined its reliability and validity across three studies.Patients and Methods: In Study 1, the Japanese version of ERQ-CA was developed and administered to 389 children aged 8– 12 years. In Study 2, the questionnaire was administered to 1738 adolescents aged 12– 18 years. In Study 3, utilizing a sample of 1300 children and adolescents, the test was administered twice over a period of four weeks in order to assess test–retest reliability. Results: In Study 1, the Japanese version of ERQ-CA showed the same factor structure as the original version, along with good internal consistency reliability and acceptable construct validity. In Study 2, the questionnaire’s factor structure, internal consistency reliability, and construct validity were again confirmed. Finally, in Study 3, measurement invariance was tested across distinct age groups (8– 11, 12– 15, and 16– 18 years), and the questionnaire had good test–retest reliability over a period of four weeks. Conclusion: The Japanese version of the ERQ-CA had good reliability and validity

The aim of the current study was to investigate personality traits associated with body shape. In a pilot study, 12 pairs of adjectives were selected. In the main study, 91 university students rated pictures of body shape using the semantic differential method. The results show that the normal figures were rated most positively. The very thin figure was least likely to be regarded as favorable or active. Overall, figures farther from normal were rated as less active and less favorable. Thin figures were rated as more reliable than large figures

Passion is defined as a strong inclination toward an activity that one likes, that one finds important, and in which one invests time and energy. These activities are eventually internalized as part of one\u27s identity. The Dualistic Model of Passion posits the existence of two types of passion - harmonious and obsessive passion (Vallerand et al., 2003; Vallerand, 2015). These two types of passion have been assessed through the Passion Scale (Marsh et al., 2013). The purpose of the present study was to develop a Japanese version of the Passion Scale and to evaluate its reliability and validity. In Study 1, Japanese university students completed a questionnaire that examined the relationship between the Passion Scale and measures of flow, concentration, anxiety, shame, depression, wellbeing and positive and negative affect. In Study 2, we examined the test-retest reliability. The results provided support for the two-factor structure of the Japanese Passion Scale and showed high reliability and validity. Overall, this evidence supports the practical applicability of the Japanese Passion Scale

This study examined the associations between sexual orientation, interpersonal factors, response styles, and mental health. A total of 1,330 graduate and undergraduate students—205 LGBs (lesbians, gays, and bisexuals) and 1,125 heterosexuals—completed a questionnaire on the topics of interpersonal stress, social support, two types of response styles (rumination and problem-solving), depression, and anxiety. The analysis of variance results indicated that LGB respondents reported more rumination and interpersonal stress and less social support than heterosexual respondents. Moreover, path and mediation analyses revealed that sexual orientation can increase depression and anxiety through interpersonal factors that promote rumination or inhibit problem-solving. These results suggest that LGB youth experience greater stress in interpersonal relationships, and this stress promotes maladaptive response styles that can exacerbate mental health
