Global analysis of solar neutrinos (assumed to be Majorana particles) together with the new KamLAND data
Assuming neutrinos are Majorana particles having non-zero transition magnetic
moments, a global analysis of solar neutrino data, together with the new
KamLAND data, is presented in the resonant spin flavor precession (RSFP)
framework. The allowed regions from solar data combined with new KamLAND data
are examined at 0.95 confidence level (CL). The electron antineutrino flux from
the Sun is calculated, and via the results obtained several limits are set for
muB.Comment: 13 pages, 6 figure
Fractal Measures of Sea, Lake, Strait, and Dam-Reserve Shores: Calculation, Differentiation, and Interpretation
The fractal dimensions d_f of the shore lines of the Mediterranean, the
Aegean, the Black Sea, the Bosphorus Straits (on both the Asian and European
sides), the Van Lake, and the lake formed by the Ataturk Dam have been
calculated. Important distinctions have been found and explained.Comment: 3 pages, 2 figures, 1 tabl
On the geometric phases in entangled states
Correlation relations for the spin measurements on a pair of entangled
particles scattered by the two separate arms of interferometers in hybrid
setups of different types are investigated. Concurrence, entanglement of
formation, quantum fidelity, Bures distance are used to clarify how the
geometric phase affects the initial bipartite state. This affect causes a
quantum interference due to the movement of charged particles in regions where
electromagnetic fields are not present. We shown that in some cases the
geometric phase information is carried over to the final bipartite entangled
state.Comment: 17 pages, 2 figures, 1 Tabl
An Overview and Assessment of Wireless Technologies and Co- existence of ZigBee, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Devices
AbstractWi-Fi, ZigBee and Bluetooth wireless communication systems utilize the Industrial Scientific and Medical-(ISM) Band, which results in a high mutual interference between these technologies since they all these systems operate at the same or very close frequency bands. The interference problem increases with an in-device Co-existence (technologies existing on same device). This is primarily due to the characteristics of each technology such as access mechanism, frame structure, peak transmit power and frequency of operation. This work describes the interference between the Wi-Fi mostly as an aggressor on Bluetooth and ZigBee wireless networks. So the experimental analysis of the coexistence of these three technologies in an assumed home environment is studied especially when ZigBee is enabled for a Home Automation Network where there could be close proximity of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices such as PDAs and mobile phones. The obtained result shows that there is severe degradation on ZigBee and Bluetooth packet transmission of packets as well as re-transmission of ZigBee packets when Wi-Fi is operating
A critical analysis of sunlight patches in patient rooms via simulation
Recent research on patient recovery has indicated significant improvement in the conditions of patients treated in sunny rooms compared to those treated in shaded rooms. In this study, the amount of sunlight received in patient rooms with different orientations and opening positions was observed. Desktop Radiance 1.02 software was used to simulate the conditions in a typical double patient room. The area and location of sunlight patches on room surfaces were considered as analog indicators for the investigation. Seven orientations and three positions of standard window openings were studied on an hourly basis in different combinations at solstices and equinoxes from sunrise to sunset. Data were statistically analyzed for advantageous combinations of orientation and opening positions. Results indicated that rooms with right- and left-shifted openings receive direct sunlight more than rooms with centered openings, and these have sunlight mostly on walls, while those with centered openings have it mostly on floors. The study revealed that opening positions rather than orientation is crucial to the design of patient rooms regarding the penetration of sunlight. Orientation is effective only when the room surfaces are studied individually. The study enabled sun patches to be visualized in relation to patient beds, which is a significant determinant that can affect the location of the bed, and so patient in the room. The paper concludes with four proposals of an informal choice from these combinations that both admits sunlight and protects the patient from glare and excessive heat gain. © 2008 University of Sydney. Borrelia burgdorferi s.l. and rickettsia spp. in ticks collected from european part of turkey
This study was performed in ticks collected with the flagging method from localities situated along Anatolian side of Istanbul to
the Bulgarian border of Turkey which is under the effect of Black Sea climate. All ticks which were collected seasonally were screened
for the presence of B. burgdorferi s.l. and Rickettsia spp. in pools. As a result, indicated agents were revealed to be common in ticks of
studied localities, Ixodes ricinus being the predominant tick which was active throughout the year
Economic Models Involving Time Fractal
In this article, the price adjustment equation has been proposed and studied in the frame of fractal calculus which plays an important role in market equilibrium. Fractal time has been recently suggested by researchers in physics due to the self-similar properties and fractional dimension. We investigate the economic models from the viewpoint of local and non-local fractal Caputo derivatives. We derive some novel analytical solutions via the fractal Laplace transform. In fractal calculus, a useful local fractal derivative is a generalized local derivative in the standard computational sense, and the non-local fractal Caputo fractal derivative is a generalization of the non-local fractional Caputo derivative. The economic models involving fractal time provide a new framework that depends on the dimension of fractal time. The suggested fractal models are considered as a generalization of standard models that present new models to economists for fitting the economic data. In addition, we carry out a comparative analysis to understand the advantages of the fractal calculus operator on the basis of the additional fractal dimension of time parameter, denoted by , which is related to the local derivative, and we also indicate that when this dimension is equal to , we obtain the same results in the standard fractional calculus as well as when and the nonlocal memory effect parameter, denoted by , of the nonlocal fractal derivative are both equal to , we obtain the same results in the standard calculus
